"Little Italy" without italians .... the National Shrine Church of San Gennaro is located on Baxter Street with an additional entrance on Mulberry Street, the Church of the Most Precious Blood is part of Manhattan's Little Italy neighborhood.
My GF used to bring me to the feast every September during the mid-60's. Her family originally lived in the neighborhood. Not sure about now (I don't go now because of all the touristas) but back in the day - man the cannoli was "to die for". Cheers.
Nice memories! Love those cannolis and Italian ice! San Gennaro festival was on my agenda each September...and there was another one in May I think. 1970's, long time ago!
Hi Action Kid - I loved going back and seeing this walk through a part of NY that I love so much. I saw a terrific video with you and Jon eating amazing Chinese foods in Brooklyn and that was also so fabulous. I enjoyed it so much. Good to know your name is Kenneth. Thanks for the high quality work, Kenneth. I get so much out of it, especially as I recover at home, from cancer treatment. It helps to have things to watch that I enjoy so much!! Gratitude!
You do very nice videos. I left New York 42 years ago. Moved west coast. It's nice to see how New York has improved in many areas. When I lived there it was very stressful and dirty. People everywhere have to pick up trash in the city streets whatever state we live the city belongs to all of us it's our home too.
I never knew about what Nolita stood for, I always thought it had something to do with little italy, thanks action kid for teaching me stuff that I didn’t know about in my home city 😁👍
Wow it looks so different now. newer buildings now. This is a whole other experience. I like the singing and music from some ofthe restaurants..Again the ambiance is gone. Cannoli's are to die for. Wonderful job AK as usual.
Looking forward to another Feast of San Gennaro! There' s a live cam there somewhere, and i' ve been watching it forever! Thanks for the video, i love it!
Its great that you state the date, time and temperature. Imagine someone viewing your video in the distant future... this will be a great historical reference. You managed to capture a snapshot in time. 😮👍🏾
It was reported in 2018 " the Most Precious Blood Church is selling its rectory. (The church itself is on Baxter Street.)" That's the San Gennaro church.
At 04:10 to the left and at 12:50 to the right you find the (live) webcam of Earthcam.com called "Mullberry street". It's above the Muberry Sigars shop. Ruud Mulder (NYC fan) The Netherlands
Action there nothing like italiano food,i have little italy in my house everyday my wife makes it all haha, great vid as always keep the great work going
thanks for the video. Although like you said you read off the Google article, your narration helps me understand the brief modern history and culture of the lil Italy
My NYC "tour guide" in the late 70's was of Italian American decent so we always went to Mullberry St. We even dined at Umberto's once or twice. Maybe you could do a narration tour of some of the "notorious" areas of NYC. My favorite Italian restaraunt (today) in NYC is Arturo's (corner of Houston and Thompson)
Okay, you have gone and done it. Teasing me with showing and talking about the Italian food, pastries and gourmet coffee. Sadly, I've never been able to afford to travel to New York City for a vacation. I'm big time into cycling, love Italian food because it's my top favorite and have always cheered for Italian pro cyclists. I'm 57 and live in Texas so I hope to travel to NYC as soon as I can. My first stop, upon arrival and checking into a hostel, is Little Italy. I just bought a tiramisu mini cake at the local Kroger store tonight and it was the only one they had. I didn't see any cannolis, so sad. When I lived in metro Denver there was a Sicilian bakery/delicatessen a short drive from home and they spoiled me big time with family recipes five generations old.
Great Vid. Didnt know about Fridays closed to traffic. Thanks. And can you believe last time i was there, i didnt have a cannoli. Ate at Da Ncos but didnt eat a Canmoli.
There used to be a lot of working class Italians living in the Soho area, especially on Sullivan and Thompson streets between Spring St. and Houston. They used to celibate the feast of St.Anthony yearly.
This is not my New York.. The New York I grew up with.. Now its a giant money-pit tourist trap.. All foreigners and no real Americans.. Its actually sad.. All the real people are gone.. Now you can't understand anybody. You do a great job with the videos. They are a wonderful birds-eye view of a once beautiful city... Now the videos are just a reminder of where not to go...

I'm using your videos to plan my trip to NYC next month. I know I want to see the 9/11 memorial, trying to decide what else. I grew up 45 minutes out of Manhattan, and went to college in Tarrytown.
Buona sera questa bono Action kid. I gotta ask you. Would youse be able or willing to do a walking tour in the city as to where Charles Lucky Lucciano and some other wise guy's neighborhood's are ??And since your walking on Mulbury street? And you past several restaurant's? How come youse don't some of the foods. Mamma Mia! Not even a cannoli ??? Marone... do those gift shop's have any Mobster bobble heads? Lol... just kidding . Anyway Grazie mille for the tour. Questa bono. Ciao.

If you do - I would love to see that street on your walks !

I have a question action kid what got you into doing what you do? You kind of inspiring me to do the same thing in Tulsa Oklahoma but Tulsa Oklahoma is boring compared to New York City.
I started recording my longer bicycle rides and was surprised that people were watching them. I also like to travel and explore within my own city so it was only natural 😊

It's such a great vibe in little Italy. I hope they preserve what's left of it because it is a staple neighborhood of NY.
AK, I hope you took the opportunity after filming to sit and enjoy some of the wonderful eats on Mulberry Street. Grazie Altrettanto!

What's your definition of " real people"? Real people are New Yorkers' who love their city, like myself and 8.5 million others...
