- Want a cheap easy way to have a better shifting transmission? Here is an explanation and install of a new weighted shift knob on my Focus RS.

Good points. I bought and installed a white Lathewerks RS knob the second week I had my RS. It is a simple, satisfying mod. Heavier and smoother than stock.

I bought the carbon fiber ST knob from ford and love it! I got about 3 different knobs and switch them out every couple of months at random...keeps things fresh i think.

Just ordered the JBR short shifter a couple days ago, should compliment the ford performance short shifter i installed. Just need to change out the shift boot next.
I love all the options ford gives you to add performance and style while retaining your warranty. And diving into the ford parts bin is always a treasure when you find parts to swap out. Gonna stock up on parts over winter, RS brembos, RS knuckles, wheel bearings, hubs, ford performance 70 mm throttle body, and other parts too many to name off the top of my head.
Bought the ST version of that shift knob a while back. LOVE IT.

I love the feel of my CF shift knob and it really matches the other CF trim in the '18. I just may have to call Ford Performance since the RS logo is a bit crooked on mine.
Yes the extra touches of carbon they put on the 2018 is really nice quality pieces! How crooked is the logo? What color did you get?

I called RUclips to confirm your story. They told me that they absolutely did not give you permission to wear a Subaru hat while sitting in Focus RS.

In one of your other videos you mentioned you can get a STI down to 32k. I'm assuming the car would be new. I didn't think that would be possible. And if you know if there's any difference between negotiating a new vs used car. And you said you paid sticker price MSRP? Any tips to do that? The RS new around where I live (NY) are priced at like 40k or above. Also if you have gotten 0% APR.

Yes, on a base brand Subaru STI you can do around 33K. I got my Focus RS for $6k under sticker. My Type R is the only car that I have ever bought where I paid MSRP, and that was a victory considering every dealer in my area wanted $10k over MSRP. There is a lot to it and I am going to put this VLOG together for you. Stay tuned I should have it up in a week or so. Thanks for your support!

Great and informative video. Do you know the approximate weight of the new shift knob? I bought one from Anarchy Motive awhile back. I love the weight of it but I was never really happy with how the color turned out. I would've bought the one in this video but it wasn't offered with the RS logo when I was in the market for one.

Alright thanks for the info buddy. The one I have weighs 588 grams, not sure if I'll be able to go back to such a lightweight knob. The carbon fiber does look really good, though.

Hi Joe thanks to this video I have done this upgrade and it looks fantastic I’m wondering if you spun it right to the bottom and also have you noticed that it doesn’t retain the factory lock out point? I had a closer look side by side and noticed the oem knob has a plastic retainer to help with the lock out point. The instructions say approx 5 turns I’ve gone 6 full turns there’s room for more but I’m scared to break something lol
I want all the way down and then back it out so it was nice and straight!

It’s a nice shift knob but using carbon fiber for weight is contradictory. Stainless steel shift knobs is where it’s at

Raiti's Rides looks good with all the CF trim, weighs about the same as the stock one it seems and is comfortable. Doesnt come with a lock nut though so you need to put one on yourself if you want it tight at perfect center, although it screws on very tight and doesnt move I see it getting lose after many years.

Been driving for 25 years, I've had knobs with lights in, have had knobs with extensions in for quick shifting, have had Momo knobs then again have ridden a multitude of cars, have drag raced many many different cars and to be honest this weight thing, well it gave me good laughs right here... Weight helping shift?? Its not a pendulum... Then again I've never tried drilling a hole into a giant bearing ball and feeling the difference... But anyways, thanks for the chuckle....

Great video, it’s a shame your car will need a new engine within 18 months, and the diff over heats when pushed making the car 2 wheel drive 👎

Everyone’s got an opinion. Opinion vs fact. What percentage of Focus RS have an engine failure in 18 months? Do you have the stats on that or are you just speculating? When pushed define “pushed” under what circumstances and how often does this occur? I can read all the negative news about any car out there and repeat it as if it’s totally factual. By the way the sky is falling so don’t go outside.

Finally its IN my RS...1st impression after using it for only 10min (way home) WOW!!! Honestly I really "feel" the gears now.It's sliding in so easily and precisely! I would say mainly because of the shape of the knob.Thanks for showing it.Additionally the carbon is matching my handbreak handler as I have an RS Edition (2018) NB so looking awesome.Thank you Sir :D
