On these sleds with the gearbox there is a short shaft that stays in the gearbox. A male spline sticks out of the gearbox and the jackshaft has a female spline.
I like to ride them stock for break in. Not that I think the snowmobile needs that, it just allows me to get familiar with how it works stock and what I’d like to improve. I already have a setup in mind for the 850, I will probably be experimenting with it in mid January
I really don’t have any experience with trail models. The only kit I know of off hand for that sled is from Cudney Racing. Bill has a good reputation, it’s probably a good kit.
Hot rod sled shop sells a complete clutch kit for 900ace N/A with E-drive, i made the mistake of buying one for my wife's 900ace but hers has the pdrive...
No I’m not. I did work at the dealership when I was younger and had the opportunity to learn a lot of good stuff. I also have a great relationship with 2 dealers so any issues I have are usually just a phone call to sort out.
Make sure you don’t do this on a 850 lol.. if you pull that whole secondary shaft out liek that your top gear and chain will fall to the bottom of your chaincase. This only works cause r strokes have another reverse gear up there that holds everything together. On an 850 you have to take chaincase apart or shove a punch to hold the gear. Or just take the secondary off the shaft by taking the helix off from the backside with a torx thin ratchet, SLP sells one with their kit and it works great.
This works on all the sleds with the 2 speed gearbox, even the 600r and 850 2 strokes. I use the tool that holds the top gear in place on the sleds with the strait chain case
Very informative and detailed video great work!!
Thanks
Once again. Excellent Job.
Would be awesome If you did a quick video on how to change out the rollers in the secondary with all your tips and tricks.
Great video. Does the same procedure and parts apply to the 850 expedition xtreme? Thanks again
The procedure is mostly the same, some parts are a little different
Do you have a clutch kit for scandic g4 600 ETEC SWT.
Great video, new subscriber thanks
Where did you get the tool for the secondary for removal…do you thread pitch & diameter if it’s homemade
Great video, well done! Thanks
How are you securing the gear in the chaincase from not dropping when you pull the shaft out?

Will you be installing a clutch kit on your 850?

Let me know cause I just got a 2024 expedition 850 SE also.
Thank you A+++
