ZERO Wind Noise Motorcycle Sound

  • I love high quality audio as much as anyone, so I have been working on ways to record my motorcycle engine with zero wind noise. It hasn't been easy.
Most motorcycle videos I watch have rumbling and crackling audio due to poor wind noise reduction. I am working on a few methods to record high quality audio during my motorcycle rides and for future motovlogs/reviews.
What do you think of the audio quality here? Would you like to hear more like this? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
In this video I am riding a 2023 Ducati Monster with SC Project CR-T Exhaust.

How did you reduce the windnoise?
I button mic under one of my cheek pads. It works well for reducing wind noise but catching some good noise.
Another experiment I did, I put a mic under the rear pillion seat(behind the batter). That was really good, but obviously it could not pick up my voice.

Thanks for watching from Japan! I visited Japan around 7 years ago and went to Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima. I loved it and want to go back soon. How is the motorcycle culture in Japan? What are the most popular bikes?
I have a small fanny pack that I wear backwards behind me. I then put the microphone in the fanny pack facing the exhaust. This eliminates almost all of the wind noise. For my voice, I use a microphone inside of my helmet and then mix the audio tracks separately.
Under the rear pillion seat sounds like a good idea. I will have to try!

The motorcycle culture is great, it is like America I think. Except people tend to ride with groups of same manufacturer. I actually run a meetup group out here for riders that live in Kyoto
      The most popular bikes...
I would say 400cc are the most popular size, but for big bikes, the most common bike I have seen here is the Kawasaki zx1000.
Of course Yamaha and Honda are popular for younger bikers and import bikes are used more by older.
We have also have "road stations" in Japan. I think it would be compared to Rest Stops in America.
Fanny pack is a great idea, I thought about that, but I absolutely dislike wearing and bags while I ride.
Good luck on your riding setup
      Happy Riding!

I'm thinking of buying it, can you notice the change? you are happy? or did you expect more?

Overall I am very happy. The look and quality alone make it better than the stock exhaust. In terms of sound, I was expecting a bit more deep note. It is noticeably louder than the stock exhaust and slightly deeper. The big difference I notice is the sound during deceleration is improved. Downshifts sound a lot better and there are more deceleration pops, which I love.
I made a comparison video of the stock vs. SC Project that you can check out on my channel.

I thought the SC sounded like an open can end. Sounds good, but not my jam.
I opted for a decat with a the Akrapovic slip on.
It gives it a nice sound deep sound, but it is not obnoxious.
