  • Al Ula is a historical city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and home to Saudi Arabia’s First UNESCO World Heritage Site, “ Hegra “ also known as “ Mada’in Salih ”. Hegra was built by the Nabateans, the same civilization that built Jordan’s Petra. Hegra has impressive 111 rock carved tombs influenced by Greek and Roman architecture. Many of the tombs having capital-topped columns that hold a triangular pediment above the doorway and a tomb-wide entablature. This mystical and awe-inspiring city is a treasure trove for travelers who want to explore the unexplored and discover the less-walked path in the Middle East. The Rock Art Trail in Hegra is a spellbinding odyssey through time as represented on hundreds of petroglyphs. The Jabal AlFil or the Elephant Rock is a naturally formed and a geological marvel rock formation resembling an elephant with its trunk touching the ground. Commanding breathtaking views of the surroundings, the dramatic Elephant Rock formation is a visual delight and perfect for stargazing and camping. The Old Town of Al Ula is an archeological site. The ancient town is a labyrinth of more than 900 mud brick homes, 400 shops, 5 town squares, Hijaz Railway, and Hegra Fort. Al Ula offers a plethora of historical wonders, captivating sights, and breathtaking beauty and unique outdoor museum. Shukran jazeelan!
