World record is 54 penalties set in 2022 by Washington and Bedlington (non league teams of English football) in the Earnest Armstrong Memorial Cup with Washington winning the shoot out 25 -24. This means that according to Goal ( a football outlet) this match would move up to number 4 in history surpassing a match between the Netherlands and England U21 teams in 2007 where they took 32 penalties and the final result being Netherlands winning 13-12.
How does the football community feel about these shootouts? As a casual fan, I always thought they were an awful way to decide a game, but the crowd here seems to love it.
It’s kind of just accepted. It’s a hate/love things. We all know it’s based a lot on chance and also a specific skill so not a good indicator of who should win. But the drama is unmatched and there’s not really any other options for tiebreakers. Unless we do old MLS style shootouts. They required more skill but would probably be more difficult to referee
It can get intense, which I love, especially if it involves the team you're cheering for in the knockout rounds of a big tournament. Always 50/50 I believe. Argentina vs France PK shootout in the WC final had me crazy.
@@volinger4360the reason football is popular worldwide is because it’s extremely simple with extremely simple rules. So ain’t nobody got time for all that.
Yuki Takaoka though, would enjoy his penalty-shoot-out moment for a while, has he say "goodbye" if Vancouver Whitecaps out of the League Cup this year?
At this rate, we'll have players, coaches, medical staff, owners in attendance & fans in PKs
After the keepers go, they should be forced to bring in the backup keepers.
At least bench players

Well obviously the English weren't going to win a shootout.
Non league 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
But in this cup they made history (or in MLS competitions in general)
@@Danny-cr3ze
In somewhat of a big competition for sure
How entertaining it was to watch the fourth longest penalty shootout ever, I was like when is this ending??
Same with me. I was basically thinking, "What did I just watch?" 🤯
I was watching Hispanic twitter and cracked when they compared this shootout to One Piece
7:18 keeper penalties, the most magic moment of a penalty shootout
Especially when one scores and then saves (or vice versa).
10:42 XD
Watching this live was quite the experience.
I can't imagine how the pressure build up in the minds of the players. Just seeing PK after PK til one couldn't handle it any more
Leon keeper made one save lmao. Also why did the commentator keep saying he made multiple, the first one was clearly all post
damn i guess the whitecaps suck more than i thought
None of the 7 penalty misses went too high or too wide, besides the 3 saves from both keepers, the other 4 shots hit the frame of the goal
Damn I'd be pissed if I was Takaoka he made some quality saves for his team to win and then they just totally missed it
that camera angle for the penalties is so good though
I watched this live, it was 11 pm before the match ended, i wanted to go to sleep early but ended up sitting there until 12
I was watching in the eastern time zone. It was past 1 AM.
Seemed like takaoka was the only one that wanted it
yes he made plenty of saves even the announcer said it he gave the team 3 chances
The fact that cota tried the fifa penalty gk tease haha😂😂
I thought this was a video game for a moment 😂
Did the coach ,fans, everybody shoot penalty as well…🤔
On León’s Twitter, the admin said, “At this point, it should be my turn to shoot!” 😂
Best ending to this would have been if the keepers would have taken again 😂
Estuvo de locos, recuerdo que me fui a dormir, desperté y seguían pateando penales
jajaajaj
The Japanese keeper is good at guessing where the ball is going but just can’t save them
He made 2 pk saves
2:37 *Dude pretending like he hurt his leg thats why he missed it*
he missed both👎🏽
Bro the video is so choppy you could think it's Fifa. Put it at 2X speed i guarantee you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

It's not a perfect way but I can't think of any better way

Its the only option. Its always been like that.
In terms of time, the shootout lasted 28 minutes.
Still shorter than extra time
@@elijahfoster2 and no running around further burning out the players
This is crazy 😮
This video could’ve been shorter
Wow that was a cardiac game😂
How is that whitecap goalkeeper not getting callups to japan?
Leon with the 80 sponsors on the shirt

I feel sorry for Vancouvers goalkeeper
I went on vacation to watxh this it was sp exhausting
Some really poor penalties taken in this shootout sure helped this become something.

Whitecaps play LA Galaxy tonight. If they win, they move on.
@@sdot5389 If LA Galaxy won Yuki Takaoka will say Goodbye for Vancouver White Caps
Why the he'll do they look like an npc from fifa 💀
Can't really be a mls record if both teams are not mls
Vancouver is literally an mls team
@@nepoliansumal3547 you do realize it's not MLS play right
And club Leon I'm pretty sure is not a mls team
the liga mx is exposed to the entire mls history and currently
Is there a reason they kept calling him "Taka-ota"? His name is literally on the back of his shirt
I've heard "Takyoka" too. Apparently commentators can't do the bare minimum and pronounce the player's names correctly
