I was there in person in the Nishikori Monfils match. Some of the points, the incredible comeback, and crazy energy gave me chills.

Murray's drop shot kind of makes sense to me. I only play badminton and table tennis.
Tennis unfortunately is less accessible though I'd like to pick it up. When I'm match point down and it's a close set and I know I could turn it around, im at my most concentrated.
Lower percentage shots become more makeble if you are in that hyper-focus!
I can smash the shuttlecock with side spin
so it curves half an inch steeply across the net for instance. A smash drop which would be 40% success rate becomes about a 90% one. Since Murray is one of Tennis's greatest talents in terms of touch and he is probably in that zone, it's more genius than madness to play it in my humble opinion 😅
