Found this video when my iPhone wasn't charging, tried many other things and then tried this and it actually worked. I couldn't believe the amount of dirt there was inside the charging port of my phone. Thanks so much for this video. Oh and I took the cotton off of a q tip and used a tack to scrape the dirt out. worked like a charm.
You arrived in time rescuing me from unwanted expenditure and frustration!
I was unable to charge an hour back. My iPhone 7 now works completely fine. I used the SIM card tray remover eject pin to gently pry the dirt accumulated in the charging port of my phone.

This guy is a genius! Got the phone charging in less than 1 min! Totally wouldn't have thought of using a q-tip. We were going to use a toothpick.
I went to the Apple store and they basically told me I had a faulty charging port on my iPhone 6 Plus. They said it wasn’t something they could fix. They even ran a diagnostic with my insistence and said they couldn’t help me.I pulled this video WHILE AT THE STORE and tried the fix when I got home. I used a safety pin and 5 minutes later my phone was charging again (it was clogged with lint of all things). Thank you guys for posting this!

At first my iphone still didnt work after I tried it, but I also shut it off and plugged it up to turn it back on and cleaned it again with my earring and found more dust come on. So now its working !! thank you! thought I was going to have to buy another phone.
I cleaned it with the tip of a paperclip in lieu of a cotton bud and it worked. Now able to charge the phone. Thank you.
I was surprised how much lint was in there. I was ready to take it in for repair. Thanks for the advice it just saved me a huge headache!

The cut plastic cotton bud worked for me! I didnt want to use any metallic thing and the brush hadn't work.
Suddenly my phone stopped charging but it was obvious that the charger tip didn't fit well in the port, it would come off or after twisting, pushing, etc, sometimes it did charge in a certain position but not for long. I thought may be the port had been damaged after one of the multiple times I've dropped my phone. Then with the flash light I could see something at the bottom of the port but as the brush didn't make any diffrence I was unsure if it was dirt or not. The plastic stick did the trick!
Still unsure about any possible damage that could result from proding and scratching the port with it. But the charger fits well again and working by now. Saved me from a long trip to the Apple repair store!! At least by now...

I tried this and it didn't work, but after 3 hours of trying it it finally worked thank god I thought had to buy a new iphone

Same issue except its with all chargers and blocks (over 5) I think the socket is going out
WORKED!!!!! 1 minute cleaning the port and weeks of charging problems disappeared!!! (i used the blunt end of a sewing needle to pull out the pocket lint)

The Q-Tip worked like a charm! I tried it with a toothpick a few weeks ago and pulled out a crazy amount of lint and it worked better but I still had to fiddle with the lightning cable. I stumbled across this video and the combination of a Q-Tip (cut at an angle so I was able to dig deep in the port) and a bread tie to do a few final passes to remove the last bits of lint has fixed my port as good as new and now it charges every time!

Great video, just a note don't use earring or paperclips or anything metal. It will break your power circuit. I used a toothpick just keep clearing it out, shine a light in there to see if there is any dust orso left. Then just scrape it out with the toothpick.

So I put my phone in the charger, and I got a warning on my phone saying it would take longer to charge. So I left my phone in the charger for an hour. When I came back to it, it didn't even charge at all! In fact, the percent went down too. So I decided to watch videos on how to fix your phone if it won't charge, so I came upon your video. I started watching it, and you said that it might be the plug or something. Then I tried to switch the direction the charger was going into the plug, and to my surprise the warning about the the phone went away, and my phone charged up 2% while I was typing this comment.
It worked for me thanks a lot man. All that time the dust was the problem that built up inside. thanks a lot once again.

Thank you so much! My iphone wouldn't charge and i recently bought a new charging chord. I saw a few videos yesterday and i tried cleaning dust and lint out but it didn't really work. I switched my charging dock to a samsung one and it worked just fine.
I literally had to shove my charger SIDEWAYSS almost in my port for 5+ minutes to get it to charge, and now sitting here for about 5-10 minutes digging I got rid of a years worth of lint lmaooo. This really worked, thanks bro.

I find that acetone or 90% isopropyl alcohol with a q-tip works sometimes too. Considering both dissolve quite quickly (the acetone a bit quicker), it hasn't affected my phone from being wet on the inside.
As I watched this video I could not help but think to myself that this is some stupid suggestions for getting an iphone to charge. So I grabbed a wire tie and started to go to town. OMG! There actually WAS some lint in there. More than I had thought too. It was like cleaning lint out of a belly button. And, the best thing about it is now my iphone's belly button works with the damn charger again! Thanks!!!

Probably work best if you turn your phone off, before actually cleaning it. You do not want to short-out your phone if it is on. Just FYI. Also, if this video did not help, try charging your phone with a portable charger. Yes, it sounds dumb, but if you already tried everything, including a "reboot", then try the portable charger trick.

I bought a new cable before I tried this. Then the new cable stopped working properly. Cleaned the port with a toothbrush, now it charges fine again. Got the old 'broken' cable out of the bin, and it still works!
