- Here is how to fix an iPhone that won't charge. First, try plugging the charger into different outlets and if possible try a different iPhone charger. If the iPhone still doesn't charge, clean any lint out of the iPhone lightning connector port and carefully clean the metal contacts with a little bit of rubbing alcohol. Plug the iPhone into the charger, and it will charge.

This is the second time I've used this video to clean out my lightning port. Works like a charm!
didn't really think much of the lint being stuck in the. I used a business card and cut up small edge pieces and dug it out without scratching it up. now it works fine thanks for the video.

Got rid of the lint, took some work though. Still didn't work and didn't have any rubbing alcohol, Risked it with the phone off and used aftershave with a high alcohol content; dried it and it's working perfectly! Great video man, saved me!

Cleaned out so much lint... This blew my mind and saved my life
just spent 20 minutes cleaning out the port on my iphone 5s. plugged in the charger and instantly noticed a difference in how flush the charger was to the phone and it worked!! phone started charging straight away! Thanks so much for the tutorial :)

I tried to use this method but I changed it up a little. You said try to clean the lint out of the charging hole of the phone and I did but I just blew in it. I plugged in my wire, and IT WORKED HAHAHA

Always remember to try a hard reset as well... (Hold home and power button for up to 30 sec. until screen startup apple shows). Sometimes the iphone software does not recognize it is plugged in for charging due to a glitch...

I just tried this on my iPhone 5s and it worked! Thank you so much! My cord wouldn't plug all the way in so it was flush with the base. After gently digging in the hole with a plastic straw , clumps of lint started coming out. I couldn't believe how much lint was in there... I had to restart the phone then plugged it in flush, and it worked. Thanks again!

There wasn't lint in mine but a plastic sharp thing and it hit my eye hard cuz i was getting it out it flew to my eye and I have a injury now... Great... At least my charger works now..

Get a friend to try your charger then u charge after him is done whit yours then it should work
I guess it was the dock connector you need to repair that.
That happend with me with my charger not my phone, and whenever I took it out the charger and turned my phone back on it decreased the battery in like 30 secs
Excellent advice my friend. It was lint stopping the charger from going all the way in. Used a broken match stick to fix it. So much trouble for something so simple. Thanks for the video.

I don't know what's wrong with mine. It only started this morning, no problems before. I tried using a stretched paperclip to see if there was anything stuck down there as that method helped me remove a ball of tissue from the audio jack once, but no luck. Tried one of those air pressure canisters and still nothing. Also when I rebooted my iphone the screen started flickering.

+Carl Murray lmao ive just had a charger lead that broke so i tried soldering the wires back to the pins on the charger part of the lead after pluggin it in the phone i could see sparks inside the port and quickly removed it.thus smelling electrical smell thinking oh uh i fecked my iphone.So i went to fleabay and bought a tool kit with battery thinking the old one had it. so removed battery replaced with new one.still wasnt charging hours later of new battery then i see this video.grabbed my tattoo alcohol wipes and wiped the dock part of the phone and it was absolutly black.i then plugged the new charger lead in AND IT WORKS AGAIN!! BE WARNED LINT COMES OFF CHARGER PORTS INTO THE DOCK AFTER A LONG AMOUNT OF TIMES OF CHARGING YOUR PHONE.

Simple, easy fix. I have been SO frustrated with my phone lately. I can't believe I didn't think of this since I dug a pound of lint from my sister in laws headphone port a month ago! I used one of those plastic pic/floss things and it worked like a charm! Thanks!

Tried his advice and it worked like a charm. The alcohol made the difference. I noticed after the first attempt that, after the alcohol set a second, the end began to come out dirty. When it lightened up, I plugged in the phone and it began to charge.

Was having to get charger wire in a certain position in order to get connection to the port. After watching this video I cleaned the port of tons of lint. Phone charges just fine now. Thank you much😄

That did the trick. I was about to buy a new iphone until I tried this and it worked. No wonder Apple has no mention of this trick anywhere on their support page.
Many thanks. Brilliant! - I was getting desperate as phone was down to 4% and refusing to charge. Cut the plastic shaft of a cotton wool bud (as we call them this side of the Pond) rummaged around inside phone to fish out any bits and then plugged the lead back in.... hey presto! It's charging. This video clued me into the possible lint issue with my iPhone not charging. Of course, my iPhone case doesn't have a protective flap for the port. I used a wooden toothpick and dug out a huge lint ball from the connector. The iPhone is now charging appropriately. Thanks!

-Hold down the power button AND home button at the same time for up to 30 seconds. When you see the apple logo, it will disappear. Then only hold the power button and it will work

So I have a case that covers my phone all the time, and it was charging earlier in the day. And then suddenly when I plugged it in, it wouldn't charge at all. I change plugs, changed outlets, cleaned it out with both a tac and a toothbrush and none of it works.

+Vaish Siddapureddy It's the software, I had the same problem. just try playing with it until. power goes through also shot off, bluetooth, wifi and try airplane mode. for a faster charge. Plus keep complaining until they are aware of the problem and send us a fix ware update.
You are a LIFE SAVER LOL ! I cleaned it with alcohol & prayed to the iPhone gods & BAM, it started charging lol. Well I had it turned off while I was cleaning it & had it plugged in. It didn't show that it was charging so I took out the plug & plugged it back in & it started charging :) ! Anyways , great video .

+IHateThatNinja the most likely problem is the charger isnt good, if u charge it for hours and it shows that its charging but doesnt come on, the charger isnt good enough ,youll need different charger, which is what i was forced to do

I didn't have to pay since it was not a major issue at all... dont be afraid to let them look at it in store in future, most of the time they dont charge you unless it's something severe, even so, it still will be your choice to pay or not
