  • Learn how to limit charging to 80% on iPhone 15 Pro Max, so the iPhone's battery won't ever charge past the 80 percent mark. This will help with the long term battery health performance of iPhone 15 Pro Max, but will prevent the battery from lasting as long, as if you charged it to 100%.

While Apple doesn't actually explain why this feature exists, it's safe to assume that the charging cap is a direct response to the recent comments about the iPhone 14's battery degradation.

Exactly! I don't change my phone over-night since I don't want it sitting at 100% for hours on end (my schedule is not regular, so the fancy "I'll figure out when you want it at 100%" thing has simply never worked for it. It gives up and goes straight to 100% about 80% of the time. If I can reliably stop it at 80% I'd love to use standby mode and use it as my bedside clock.
