The flower I mentioned is the iris, a wild iris. We had the same flowers in Siberia, where we called them 'kukushkiny slyoski.' The 'cuckoo' bird is 'kukushka,' hence the name 'tears of the cuckoo bird.' These are my favorite spring flowers.

The wild meadow Irises are in my gardens and actually on the lawn. I dig them up, put them in pots where they flourish and survive away from the fate of the lawn mower.

Sorry I couldn't make the stream live -- just watched it all, better late than never right? Cool story about the "temperature shock!" I visited family in the northern US as a child one summer and it was 60 degrees F in July... they were apologizing profusely for how hot it was. They must have forgotten we were from Texas........!!

Brigitte L Jones. Watching a this later. Haven't been able to keep up, but love and appreciate and how you conceptually and practically do your show.I hope to manage a bit of Russian eventually. I'm so far behind in what you have taught I guess I will just learn the vocabulary as you present it rather than get overwhelmed by catching up and do nothing.

BrigitteL Jones. I hope my Leopold cat copes as well as Don Pepas when my front steps and porch have to be rebuilt. Like Don Pepas, Leopold keeps me up for patches in the night and talks to me too. If he is not too scared and watches workers he may sleep to. Leopold seemed a bit more polite than Don Pepas, being gratetful to have a home and less sure of me. Honeymoon is over, he still is a good cat, but just like Don Pepas can assert himself at times, being now confident about my love and acceptance of him.

Brigitte L Jones. You will age well by the exercises you can do. Diet is not as hard if you can be active.I understand your vocal cord problem would be like for you and sympathise, as something similar seems to have happened to me a number of months ago. It is slightly improving or I am adapting?
