    I loved this one moment, where Falin picked up angry Kuro who stabbed and bit her and she was trying to touch him, just to get her hand bitten by him. I feel like something inside of her recalled her love for dogs (which is also why she was so excited to meet the "talking dogs" in the desert when Laios recalled their past after he killed the dragon, the anime didn't show it, but their family also owned dogs) and just stopped for a moment, but the anger overcame her so quickly and she ended up killing Kuro anyway.

      I agree!!! Oh and in the the Living Armor episode, the brief flashback where Liaos figured out the armor was concealing an egg, it shows young Laios and Falin running with a dog, a funny related detail is the only compliment Marcille could remember Falin making towards Liaos was his great dog impression

    I like how through Shuro, it articulated how autistic Laios actually is. As an autistic man, I find it refreshing how this character personifies everything both what's fun and helpful and what's very challenging about autism. His mind makes him an exceptional dungeon explorer, yet, it makes him oblivious to what's going on socially and how he is perceived by people. I hope his communication skills improve eventually and we'll see more of relationships in the party.

      A scene that I love deeply is when Shiro Accuses Laios of being selfish and not caring. Laios takes a lot of shit from people and rolls with it, but for the first time he actually cracks just enough to slap shiro across the face with the most blank face.
      It’s both funny and relatable when Laios realized what he did after the fact

    • @Eddison33
      @Eddison33 3 месяца назад +6

      @@jackmack4181 Such a relatable impulse there. I also love how he roasted Shuro by acknowledging how much Marcille is doing - indicating that he values it even though he doesn't give much verbal praise usually.

    Another thing that worth mentioning is the set up of Laois's lack of social skills
    It started with Kabru in episode 14 when he said he sucks at social skills
    Then Chilchuck in episode 15 when he said Laois should learn to read people more
    And to 16-17 when his lack of social skill actually has consequences, even after that he didn't know what exactly that went wrong
    And unlike Chilchuck and Marcielle who I would assume as extrovert, Shuro is an introvert and he has been bottling his feeling toward Laois for years

    • @SolVinare
      @SolVinare 3 месяца назад +25

      The set up is even earlier when they are making ghost ice cream.
      Laios said something like "I'm glad Falin died so we can experience this.", then everyone looked at him weird.
      He then monologues that he doesn't mean that literally. and just want everyone look at the bright side of things.
      It then ended with him revealing that Falin is Laios' translator to things like that.

  • @nazstarz
    @nazstarz 3 месяца назад +68

    Another nuance and tidbits left out in this episode was when Laios thanked Kabru, and Kabru went off into monologue about how Laios could conquer the dungeon,
    Laios was talking about how Kabru tried to kill Falin the normal human way by precisely targeting vital human spot, but making notes on how Falin still able to breathe saying she might have few extra pair of vital organs due to her being a Chimera.
    This scene supposed to further show juxtaposition of Kabru and Laios, with how Kabru is good and fascinated with humans while Laios with monsters instead.

    I felt really bad for Marcille, it sucks that everyone there knows about the black magic use and it seems people on the surface will find out too so I wonder what's going to happen to her when they go up to the surface. I think most people would choose the option they did, it's just unfortunate the dragon and lunatic magician had to get/be involved.

      If it wasn’t for that crazy elf, the magic would’ve gone off without a hitch. She did say that Falin was connected to the dungeon briefly during the revival. The elf must’ve been able to force the connection open again and threw his power at the dragon’s soul, which was sleeping, forcing Falin’s soul asleep. He’s the worst combination of completely insane, and utterly brilliant at what he does.

The way he is so hiperfocused on monsters, in every aspect of them, not only food related, and how he is so socially inept made me feel like he lands somewhere on the autistic spectrum… just a feeling since I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD in my 30s and I’ve been researching things related to ADHD and ASD

    I was wondering if shuro was so irritated by laios...not because he constantly was talking about monsters and seemed oblivious to social cues, but because laios is unashamedly (unawarely) authentic and fully being himself all the time and shuro does not allow himself to do so. Yes it's also because he has been raised in a society and social standing where he just wouldn't be allowed to do so...but it makes me wonder if it made his hatred so much stronger and they did hint at that at the end of their fight. That he is jealous that laios is like that.
    Also interesting for me to hear what other people are thinking about these characters. I suspect to be both adhd and autistic and laios is more or less screaming autism to me, because of how much he seems to be in his own world in his head most of the time, which often comes across as him being oblivious and uncaring about his environment to others and then also the way his social inapptitude is being addressed is very familiar to me...the constant confusion when people seem to get mad out of nowhere, usually not wanting or willing to explain what i said or did that might have upset them, but generally not actually wanting to cause conflict or problems, but being unable to address it really, because even if it's explained to you what you did wrong, it's not that easily appliable to other similar situations, because it doesn't come naturally.
    And it's portrayed so well...laios frustration, confusion and sort of helplessness and anger that he keeps struggling with those things, but he clearly also craves companionship and cares about everyone in his way.
    But then also hearing how you had to learn how to interact with adhd/autistic people and how frustrating it can be and therefore understanding everyone elses perspective alot better, it's interesting to me, also because you didn't make it your friends fault for how they are.
    (Personally i think it's a matter of different communication styles and languages, because it's just as frustrating as trying to speak to someone whos language you barely understand and vica versa, just that we somehow think that if we speak the same words it should mean the same, when it really isn't)

  • @Borderose

    It's become obvious that the Touden Siblings are both autistic. But, whereas the trait is tolerated or even seen as charming, free-spirited, or waifish in Falin partly by virtue of her being a beautiful woman, Laios is just seen as weird, awkward, and creepy for his neurodivergency. With the world making constant demands of him to conform or change to meet societal expectations.
    Falin understands this somewhat and makes effort to be kind to her brother--as she's practically his only friend before going to the island. They're the only ones who understand each other. Seeing as they have the same weird interests and thought patterns.
    However, for good or ill, Falin being there has also partly enabled Laios, as having just one person understand you and be your friend was enough for him to never need to change for the world. He has never seen his love and fascination for all things monster as anything but a good thing, as it's one of the things he shares and bonds over with his sister growing up. Instead, his frustration over his constant "otherness" or "othering" is directed outwards instead of inwards. He thinks the world around him should change. Not him. He knows the world wasn't built for him, but why should he change who he is for a world that never bothered to even budge for his sake?

    First thing he did after she died was go away. Then antagonize the party for reviving her just because they used Black Magic - and instead of joining the quest to take down the mad mage he tried to stand against their plans, and ended up leaving again anyway. I'm slightly dissapointed... was hoping that he and team Batman were going to be mainstays... but oh well, the main four are what matter.

      First thing Shuro did when Falin was eaten was go get reinforcements. He definitely should’ve told the others what he was doing, but I don’t think he was wrong for it.

    It was only revealed in side content, but the reason Kabru is kind of a little sociopath is because he was adopted by an elf “who adopted short-lived races as a hobby” and that screwed up the way he processed relationships. He was basically a pet for this woman and realized that he could get what he wanted by showering people with good attention, and failing that, shank some ribs when someone is in the way.

    Kabru is Lawfull stupid who trives to take dirty and punish people as some sort of projection, the way I see so far, like a Faerness from Beserk, too much of a sociaopath.
    Laios is just zooned out and lack social skills like Chilchuck said, but he care for people he just to much into his "autism", we still need to see how Kabru react to a simple correction so far everyone around him is a YES MAN and minor push he get annoyed, we see his lack of want to understand monster or even orc that he assume Laios ate, while Laios as we see try to learn by doing and not push away others.
    For me Kabru is less redimable them Laios because the "indeferece" to people is diferent, Laios undertsnad and Kabru look people and monster as "tools", he rejoice in punishment/gossip he assumes a lot, he has all the social skills and appearance but lack simple people to people connection or just understand "innocent until proven guilty" he seeks for any slip ups and or excuse to just pull a rug.

      You are misunderstanding his motivation.
      He isn't punishing people because they are guilty. He's maximizing the chances dungeon will be conquered and sealed, at any cost, including removal of people who might interfere with other adventurers. He would be willing to sacrifice some innocents as well if it would guarantee the dungeon is gone.
      Remember his explanation that a dungeon, left uncleared, will eventually end up releasing monsters into the outside world, laying waste to the neighbouring towns?
      Remember the PTSD reel shown when he gets offered harpy eggs, with monsters running amok and a suspiciously Kabru-looking boy reaching for a dead woman?
      He really dislikes dungeons.
