Godamn man, this show really just gets better with every. passing. episode. This has easily become one of the shows I look forward to most each week
It's heavily implied that it's Falin there, not the monster. She was crying when she said Laios' name, and she escaped when the only people left were her closest friends. She has very little control of it, but she's still in there.
Yeah it seems like it's a pretty constant fight against her soul and the dragons. I also even talked about how our party was the only ones unscathed, but didn't make the connection that it was Falin actively making the decision to do that/fighting against the dragon to not hurt them
Another thing i noticed is that when she picked up the Kobold, she didnt kill him right away and even let her hand get closer to it (because she likes monsters too like laios) maybe to pet it? But decided to kill him after biting her hand
@@snorlaxdayo Not just the Kobold, she also petted Daya (the dwarf from Kabru's party) before the dragon took back control and pulled her up by the hair to kill her. Her kind nature is bleeding out but being quashed because of the chimera's unstable nature.
Also another major detail is that we typically see Falin with dragon eyes but when she calls out to Laios, she has her regular eyes for a bit.
@@GreenTeaGoku Not just then, also when she's looking at the Undine and in other places when she's being nice. I think that the eyes will be a visual clue as to who is "in control" at the time.
In his flashbacks, you see Kabru’s family getting eaten by monsters. He can not control his revolution towards them, he has to force himself to wash the food down his throat, and is unable to let go of the disgust throughout the whole meal.
It’s SO WONDERFUL! We got to see the people who are actually different, someone who just CAN’T be touched in the same way we have been using since ep1. It makes the characters so organic! Like they are not npc you can manually up friendship points to.
One small detail I like is that Mickbell states his dislike of Chilchuck a few eps back, and was glaring at him from the side previous ep, but they're sitting together in the big group shot at 21:16.
it's all fun and games until your sister turns into a dark souls boss
XD, just some souls boss music comes on when she shows up
Laios and possibly Falin may be autistic which would explain why they but more specifically Laios are misunderstood by strangers, their party, have such a fixation on monsters, etc. Laios not being able to read others social cues, motivations, and his struggle to fit in amongst his party and the other residents of the island add to this. Since dungeon meshi is set in medieval times I think it's fair to say there's no real understanding or knowledge of neurodivergence either. It's not canon but it makes sense to me at least! Also his english va posted a meme with Laois fighting the war on autism on the side of autism.
i think i remember hearing that the author said she intentionally wrote him to be autistic, but i havent seen where she said that yet, so take that with a grain of salt. regardless if she actually said it publicly or not tho, at the very least i think its pretty obvious that she did mean for him to have it. he's just too much of a textbook example of autism for it to be entirely an accident. her intentions for his character come across very clear through her writing
Funny thing that's in manga only, the shot of Rin whispering to Kabru before they leave, she was saying "Just swallow it already"
15:05 Right? After the throat cut (which ‘could have been’ lethal but wasn’t a stab) he hit the lungs, liver, and heart, _fast_ . In another time and place (with a different core motive), he’d be an extreme problem of an assassin.
18:38 Mickbell (other halfling) also did not die, if only because Chilchuk kept him from sprinting out to save (well… avenge?) his hireling.
19:44 Laios’ bit was _also_ valid. Running himself ragged (even if he could still handle lesser enemies) didn’t do Shuro any favors. Proper rest and feeding can mean a significant difference between victory and loss (as evidenced by him _losing_ to someone he’s absolutely stronger than).
it’s part of the reason they lost falin in the first place as well. shuro’s no leader
this show has to be the most unexpected show I've ever seen, like i would never expect the writer to put farlin back so quick
Seriously, we JUST lost her and they brought her back immediately to catch everyone off guard.
The point that Laios was making about he eating better than shuro was because Shuro said Laios wasnt taking it seriously. Laios point was a little difficult to understand but at the end he is saying that because he is taking care of himself properly, eating well and sleeping good, he is serious about getting Faling back. If you enter the dungeon with no plan, dont eat, dont sleep and dont drink watter then you are just playing because you wont make it pretty far.
Yep, hence why I said his argument was slightly more comedy based lol, because while it's 100% true it's very funny that he's arguing so seriously about eating and sleeping XD
It's a shame that the part where shuro says, that he fell in love with her *specifically* because she was looking at that caterpillar, like it was a jewel, didn't make it in(at least into the translations of the episode I saw, no idea about the original japanese dub)
Edit: Also chilchack was keeping the omelette away from marcille probably because she was very clear about her stance on eating demihumans(which harpies maybe count as in her eyes)
the soundtrack + farlin scream when she casted that spikes spell were SO FUCKING GOOD
The song that played during the time they were going through the Dragon's fecal matter was also really good. Super dark at the right time.
21:35 It's a shame those images moved so quickly, they showed interesting things.
At first Kabru says that there is nothing more repulsive than black magic, and he would rather let someone die than revive them with that method. Shuro gets angry at what he said, he means that he would have done the same as Laios, what bothers him is his attitude, since he says things dryly.
Falin is not a harpy, Laios says she is more like a chimera.
It's interesting that Kabru didn't listen to Laios when he talked about monsters, he only paid attention to the way he talked about them, his expressions and so on.
As a Manga reader, THIS is the episode I've been waiting for! It sets the stakes and tone for the rest of the series in such a phenomenal way!! Also... I love dragon ladies.
A man of culture, they're just behind Lamias for me.
Me too! I'm so excited, I can talk about Chimera Falin now without spoiling!
They did these manga chapters justice. It was striking in the manga already, but the vivid red blood and the guttural sounds just elevate the entire thing.
@@nickdurant3758 The audio does a lot, but also just seeing Faligon in *motion* is sooooo good. So bestial and terrifying. Trigger is just amazing at making things feel huge, and making you feel the weight behind the movement of things.
Shuro is envy of Laios's positive thinking that he still believes that Falin will be back whiile Shuro gave up on her.
I think it might have actually been Falin, not the monster, in the moment she says Laios' name. The pupils change from the Dragon to Human just for a few seconds.
I think so too.
yeah, same with when she reaches out to the kobold, because she was excited to meet them in a previous episode. (i forgot his name my bad lol)
Never noticed that before, but minding how many clear shots of her eyes we get, that _does_ track.
That would make a lot of sense
glad they can still keep the balance between the serious heavy plot and the lighthearted comedy stuff.
This series does a great job at this
Our party didn't die because our party did barely fight against the chimera. Laios attacked once, Marcille blocked the spell, Chillchuck gtfo'd immediately and Senshi was protecting Shuro's meal.
And I think Laios claim was valid: They DID take it more serious. They thought what they should do before entering the dungeon again. Meanwhile Shuro was going in all protagonist like 'I have a mission - must find Falin', determination and willpower instead of taking care of himself. Our party learned their lession that they lost to the dragon because they hadn't eaten/rested before and took basic human needs into account before facing it again.
Kabru I love you for stirring the pot to see Shuro's reaction
Toshiro's view of Laios is confirming Kabru's assessment of him. Plus, you know, Laios calling Monster_Falin "Cool" when she's murderizing everyone..
You know things are serious when the episode only has less than 30s of cooking in it.
Big LORE DUMP in the form of Kabru's memories' powerpoint. The author really likes doing that, showing us something that we may not realize it's relevant until later.
Kabru said "Do not forget NEXT TIME." This means two things. (1) They're going to meet again. (2) If Laios forgot this time (since Kabru is saying "Don't DO THIS THING THAT YOU JUST DID next time" it means that there was something to forget, which means that they HAD MET AND INTRODUCED SOMETIME IN THE PAST too.
Dude! I’m so glad I clicked this video. Awesome reaction, I love your analysis.
Thank you!
They're just cooking 5 minutes ago and then boom dark souls boss battle
Yeah that sounds about right
One of the most expressive and explosive episodes
I can't wait for next week's episode
Idk why but I laughed so hard at your comment about Shuro "He's like a different person once he got food" 😂😂It's true that hungry makes one cranky, hum
Also I love your video! I like you actually focus and enjoy the show, and having genuine reactions :D
Thank you very much!
Rip Kabru's mom
I noticed that
i have read the manga in the past. this serie have 3 turning points. this episode is the first one. Also i agree with laios, she looks really cool
Episode of the season, hands down
there was a third person missing, they only found two :)
Yeah they said it was the cat ears person/creature thing, they said they went around and they'd find them eventually
Wait, hold up, if the party eating Harpie's eggs does that mean they go broke their "no demi-human allowed" rules?
They ate mermaid eggs before too, so I think it's about the same
I think they just didn’t want to eat Demi humans themselves, I feel the eggs are a little different than eating something that actively looks like a human lol
you can see chilchuck guarding marcille after they make the omelets so i think only laios, senshi, and kabru ate it.
also im pretty sure demi-human only applies to species that display some amount of sentience. orcs for example are considered to be demi-humans and they have like a full society. the mermaids are shown to utilize tools and weapons. we also briefly get told that goblins are an example of demi-humans and while we dont learn much about them beyond that, we see that they wear clothes
im not sure what the extended lore book says about harpies, but its possible that they act too animalistic to really be considered to be demi-humans (although i think it would still upset marcille to eat them lol)
according to the guide book, the heads on the harpy heads arent real. so they arent human
21:15:Marcille is sitting by herself 😭
Poor girl is going through it right now
Si tu voz fuera sido un poco mas profunda provocarías terremotos!!! que voz hermano XD
Wdym you had a theory that that was falin at the end of last episode? We literally got a close up shot of her face and torso, and thats a theory???
The theory was that the creature in the ending standing above the mad mage was Falin lol, that was the theory
@@bluestReactsok ok that makes more sense, I guess I was the one not paying attention
why do you force your voice so much are you overcompensating for something
Yep, I force my voice deeper to hide my tiny penis, it’s really quite debilitating to be honest
