    Morning Tom,
I'm sure subscribers have brought this up before and I just haven't seen it.
As 1 dad to another I just want to thank you for involving your sons in your business growing up. You have taught them well and are handing them a future, provided they want it. You have certainly shown them a trade that as long as houses are being built, renovated or worked upon there will ALWAYS be a need for GOOD concrete contractors. I've been watching you from pretty much your 1st video and I wasn't sure if I'd stick around or not. We'll, you got my attention and I still here😊.
Your attention to detail and doing things the way that YOU would want to have your project done puts you ahead of the others. I'm not kissing up here, just saying what I've seen over years of viewing.
When you finally call it quits and the boys take over they will have some big shoes, or boots, to fill. Yes, you have given them the training and know how to make things work, but it will be up to them to bring your love of your trade each day. I'm sure you still got a few more yards left in you and whether or not I see that final video of you in charge, I'm not sure. (I'm 68).
Not all kids follow their parents in work, my son didn't and that's OK. As long as I gave him, as you have your kids, some work ethics and a moral value to be fair and considerate to customers I'm good.
Great video. Boys, just follow dad's footsteps. 😊😊

In the 70s i too was physically able to walk w hands, walk vertical steel beams, and walk steel beams. Spent many days on multiple story buildings, maintaining the Hoist-o-matic scaffolding, once 13 stories. Ah, the good ole days. I fell 3 times, got up and continued working. I felt invincible. Now, just the opposite. The last time i pulled both cans to the road, recycle and trash, i was so scared i wasn't going to make it back to the steps. My lungs aren't absorbing oxygen. Damaged lungs and a mass on left lung. I turned 69 the 7th. It will be a struggle and only w God's help to reach 70. I kept moving until i couldn't. Third bout w pneumonia is what stopped me. Breathing hard and not getting any air is very scary. I admire y'alls health. Giving it 100% on 100° days. Wow. I truly wish i had my 30 year old body back. I am really living one day at a time. Guess that's why im so thankful for this channel and the others i follow. If all i had was regular TV, it wouldn't get turned on often. Such crap. Immediately after Trump was shot, here came the fake, lies, confusion from the despicable news people, such crap!!!!! Again may i thank you guys for going along w Tom and his camera, you all are a true blessing, sharing your "real" w us. I truly enjoy watching you guys perform you're craft and watching it turn beautiful every time! I've learned a lot that I'd never known before. Every now and then a special project will blow me away, like Tommy's basement steps, Tom's gaslighted diving rock, and so many more!! I love this channel!! Thank you guys, all of you.👍❤️🙏🇺🇲🇺🇲

Nice one Tom, as one who has done what your doing, i remember the pain, heat, stress ; many do not realize the great responsibility of a perishable expensive commodity like Concrete; it's going to set up, and the best thing one can do is stay as far ahead of that process as possible, until your ready for it to set. I have been in a bind many times, and know what that feels like; you think got to git, no choice and die later got to finish this slab at all costs. :) lol I have poured concrete in the belly of a banana boat, that was weird. Haydite [light weight concrete] That rock has to be kept wet in the summer at the concrete company, it soaks up a lot of water, they use to use it also for upper floor walkways in Apartments and Condominiums. 💯🙏

I hadn't heard of Haydite before. I've seen perlite used as lightweight aggregate in retrofit buildings replacing wood floors for fireproof and lower noise.

I used to run short a lot because I didn't want any waste and it always ended costing more so a man once said it's better looking at it than for it, that was a good lesson to learn.

Where you show and say to lead with the front edge while trowling is one of the subtle differences between what people think you're doing and what proper technique requires. It's one of the things that shows up in the finished result that most people can't figure out on their own.

One five gallon bucket equivalent is the perfect amount left over per truck. On harder to calculate jobs we would often ask if they had a splash block area, birdbath placement or washout gulley where they would want any leftover concrete. Even plugged an old, dried up irrigation well one time.
