  • When I was a teeny bopper, I figured out another way to interpret Stick Control that was relevant to my interests (heavy metal).
    This is an introductory course, more to follow if I want!
    Addendum! Add these two triplet stickings to lesson 1: 1. RRL RRL, and 2. RLL RLL.

    I like it, very well explained. New subscriber here, King Diamond fan from Chile! The way you explain is very good for me to relly understand, it would be super cool if you dissect and analyze the snare / toms / kick patterns that Mike Portnoy does on that classic "Drum solo Live in Tokyo" '93, within 'Ytse Jam'.     Great Matt! As a self learned drummer I bought that book alot of years ago and It´s just been staring at me. Now I finally find a great way to use it in my practicing.

      Hi Aldark, it depends on the gig...for King Diamond, on the last few tours I was using Paiste Rude hi hats and a Paiste “Rhythmist” ride cymbal.
