Epidural corticosteroid injection helps to decrease the inflammation around the nerve root. The anti-inflammatory medication reduces inflammation and irritation of the nerves.
This can help ease pain caused by conditions such as herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and degenerative disc disease.
The steroid starts kicking in between 2 to 7 days and the usual amount of time that a steroid epidural injection provides pain relief is roughly three months and in some cases much longer.
But the whole purpose of doing the epidural corticosteroid injection is so that way we decrease inflammation. This epidural corticosteroid injection gives the patient a chance to heal and to continue with exercise, physical therapy, and other necessary treatments.
The epidural corticosteroid injection is just one option for treating chronic back pain and sciatica.
My whole thing from this is they’re scamming and making money off of temporary relief instead of fixing your problems. They want you coming back for more and these injections ruin joints.
It all depends on the condition and many other factors. Sometimes a patient is not a surgical candidate and only have limited options such as temporary pain relief. In other cases you need to block the pain and reduce inflammation in order to continue with conservative treatment. So before you make blanket statements maybe do some research otherwise you look like you’re spamming and scamming
