- In this video I discuss what makes Nirvana's final song, 'You Know You're Right', one of their best. I explore Kurt Cobain's minimalist approach to harmony by demonstrating how he took a very simple 3 chord progression and turned it into a masterpiece through the clever use of chord tones and dynamics.
“Through Kurt I saw the beauty of minimalism and the importance of music that’s stripped down.”
Dave Grohl
Nice breakdown of Kurt Cobain's minimalist genius!
Great review, never really thought of the extreme simplicity of the song, and how great it works. New sub. 😃
came from reddit, great video my friend! I love your content!
Awesome, glad to hear!
I don't know the words to this❤
That song was written like in 92 well the music, he put the lyrics down that day you at the studio. I think if the last album came out, Ivy League would have been finished, and big long now probably would have been finished, opinion, and Do Ri mi was a demo. Would have been something special.
Heart-shaped box, yeah!
You know you're wrong 😅
Last Kurt Cobains Song was not really this one, it was Do Re Mi
Yeah, I prob should have specified it’s the last Nirvava song released.
I would love to hear that finished, I think that would have been done with Michael Stipe if it was finished.
@@Teekay617 theres some ai studio versions
it amazes me how you managed to over complicate something can feel with a few head nods.
Very fair point. I’m actually considering deleting this video because I don’t think it does what I was trying to say justice. I generally film these in one take and just edit out some dead air before uploading. In this case I ended up editing together two takes with the end result being a bit of a mess!
One of my goals with this channel is to overcome my perfectionism though and deleting goes against that.. You live and you learn!
Clean your fretboard man
But that’s where the tone is! 😄
Nah, it’s a special kind of guitar when you can look at it and know exactly what it sounds like
