- I get questions from a lot of musicians on how to setup key splits on the Montage/MODX. It's actually really quick to do and flexible, you can split up to 8 parts on the keyboard.

Did this the other day, with a guitar part on lower keys, String part on upper, and then an electric piano across the whole range but at a lower volume. Then mapped the super knob to raise the EP volume, and trigger the super knob with an expression pedal plugged into port 2. Also, if your left part is sounding too low, raise it an octave in your performance settings. Keep up your videos man.
Thanks for watching! Nice, sounds like a dope patch you had going there!
@@SoundsAndGear Uploaded it it Soundmondo, named Guitar EP suite. The EP is lower volume than the other sounds, of course you can adjust to taste. Very mellow.
Cool!
Really helpful. Thanks!
Thanks for watching
Really helpful thx man keep it up
Glad to help!
Thank you. Could you please help me with how to use the drum patterns/kits in live performance? How to I access , select and start a beat on the Montage. The MODX has a button for this, the Montage doesn’t that I’ve found.
Thanks for watching, not sure, but this video may help ruclips.net/video/sFUg0ZwIUK0/видео.html
Thank you for showing me how to split the yamaha modx6 keyboard
Thanks for watching
Very helpful thanks! Any idea why after splitting half of the keyboard only plays if I press the keys softly? No sound if I hit them hard??
Thanks for watching. Probably need to set the velocity response in your key split setup.
Nice one after doing exactly what you did my base voice is still sustaining when l press the pedal and trying to change the octave of the voices it’s affecting the all voices please l need to know how to prevent them thanks
Thanks for watching, I’m not sure I no longer have this synth
How do I change the octave within a split and save it to a Live Set? Thanks so much for your excellent videos!
Sorry I no longer have this instrument, but I think you can set it in the live set itself. Then just save the Live Set.
In the "Part Settings", adjust the 'Pitch' (-12,-24 )for a lower octave on the higher range of the keyboard
Hey bro I'm a fan of your page question in split mode how do you add sustain to a separate section
Thanks for watching, not sure, I no longer have this board and never really used splits when I did.
Hi Sounds & gears....is it possible to freeze split points even after changing transpose or octave , because when using transpose the split position changes...Plzzz answer me
I don't know, you'd have to contact Yamaha about that one.
Good explanation. But do you know if it is possible to change the octave of only one certain split part of the keyboard? For example I would like to change an organ on the left hand to 1 or 2 octaves higher so it doesn’t sound that deep and dump while keeping the octave of the right hand (e.g. a Piano Sound) as „normal“ so it is not too high.
Thanks for watching. I'm not sure, I no longer have this keyboard.
Did you ever find out? I'm having three same question
@@emilypesina3000 yes, you go to the edit of the part you want to change. And then you need to change the „pitch“. For example +12, which leads to one octave higher.
@@Markus.el2410 appreciate the reply!
How can I have the modx6 keyboard split with bass in the left hand, and keyboard on the right hand with a drum pattern?
not sure, I no longer have this keyboard and it wasn't something I tried
Hey Joe, I would like to know how to change the Octave on each side. For example I would like my piano to start in a deeper register.
I believe you can do that within the settings for the part. Splits are not something I use personally so I'd have to test it.
I've tried the Octave buttons but it changes both sides simultaneously and also selecting one element and octave and same, both sides.😏
@@gianul Yeah I'm not sure, there has to be a way but I just do not use splits personally so I haven't dug too deep on it.
@@gianul hey Gianul, I’m also at the point to need to know how to change the octave of only one part. Have you figured out how to do so?
How do you get the sustain off of the split bass and only on the right hand keys section? I have a sustain pedal but it is sustaining the bass section too.
Sorry I'm not sure, no longer have this keyboard.
Select the bass part you want to switch off the sustain from - edit - mod/control - receive sw - press sustain off.
Once I create a split ... how do I save it? I want to be able to recall the split in a live performance setting. Thank you.
I no longer have this, but you should be able to save the performance.
Does the MODX come with all the sounds from the Motif XF?
Yeah, it's the same sound library as the Montage
How do I change the octave within a split and save it? Thanks
Not sure, no longer have this keyboard.
How many layers of tones modx7 can play at the same time?
I no longer have this keyboard, I don’t remember how many layers. Maybe 8?
Wassup bro, do you know if the modx6 has the same sound quality as the moxf on the real instrument voices? I read modx6 sounds different and thinner than previous motifs. I had the moxf6 and sold it like an imbecile and miss those sounds but i wouldnt pay thr same 1000 usd now would rather move to thr modx6 for a hundred bucks more, immjust concerned bout sound quality. thanks
They have the same voices, but output quality is slightly different. I did a few videos to answer the question as many had that question. I'd say, for many people, the sound will be fine, but for some people, you may notice a difference. When they are next to each other I was able to tell, but I don't know that it would be that drastic in most cases.
Here's one of the vids. ruclips.net/video/DDVCmhrSyJ0/видео.html
SoundsAndGear yes you talking about the montage vs the modx6 i was talking about the moxf vs the modx
@@LaidbackSounds ahh my bad, missed that lol. I haven't used the MoXF in a long time so I'm not sure, I don't have one to compare.
@@SoundsAndGear thanks fro yoru answer bro , i ll investigate on my side as im not sure i need the fm engine, never really loved fm
@@LaidbackSounds Yeah I'm not a big FM guy either. I mainly use the other stuff as well. I do dig the layout/nav of the Montage/MODX, but if you can get to a spot that has one that would be best as you know exactly what the MOXF sounds like and will be able to tell quickly what the MODX is like compared to it.
Hi. I found that parts 9-16 don't have keyboard control. So i can use straight 8 parts, and other 8 parts by arpegio or something
There's a way to change it per part, I no longer have the board so I can't check it but it can be arp or keyboard
And how to save and where to find it later?
Pretty sure you have to save the performance
How to download the saved performance you just splitted?
Not sure what you mean. But you should be able to save the performance.
@@SoundsAndGear I CAN SPLIT AND SAVE IT AS PERFORMANCE. AND AFTER POWERING ON, I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO OPEN THAT SAVED PERFORMANCE.
@@SeattleNoname Not sure, no longer have this keyboard. You should be able to load it from where you saved it. Maybe a file menu or something.
They really messed up with the screen latency. Is there any way to fix this?
Not that I know of
Does anybody does bass n keys split??
How do you save the split?
I no longer have this keyboard, haven't used it in years so I'm not sure. I think maybe saving the performance? Should be in the manual or on the yamaha synth site.
@@SoundsAndGear I got it, my manual came in Portuguese
@@blakeh6250 cool
Can Montage play a sample loop?
Can Montage play a Motif XF song?
Can Montage play a std midi file?
Thx
You can load samples, but it isn't a sampler. You should be able to loop it. It can play MIDI, not sure about Motif XF song files though, the sequencer is much different. You can play audio files from USB as well.
Thanks. Recently bought Montage. Your videos are very helpful.
I'll share when I find it but several have said 'you should be able to loop it" but no one seems to know/share exactly how. Love your videos and appreciate your help.
There are loop parameters for samples I guess it just depends on what you're trying to do exactly. Have fun!
Yes there are Motif songs now u can download it through usb check yamahamusicsoft.com
the screen on the montage looks alot nicer than the mod x
Thanks for watching!
To me is very difficult to do split on modx8 +
Thanks for watching.
Why did they make this so hard Bro!!! Its just a split. Dawn Yamaha!😢
Agreed LOL. Maybe it has changed since this video or in the new boards?
The best split keyboard is roland ds88
Cool, never used that one.
Why this low voice? Haha
Low? Hmmm lol, not sure.
Hey bro I'm a fan of your page question in split mode how do you add sustain to a separate section
