I found I had to listen to certain parts twice, but it could have been the depth of information. I had no idea about Iran's involvement. The news was either missing it or keeping it out.
As always, I learn insight from Amanpour on what no one else is talking about. So appreciated!

The US still wants to help Ukraine not be defeated. But it has not proven that it is willing to help Ukraine Win. There is a very big difference.

Religion in history provided pre-science support for developing society and, along with geography, societal culture. Scientific work has since answered many of religion's most practical existential questions. Religion's sole role today is in the human spirit and outside government affairs.

Isolationists want to cede US leadership, moral authority, and military supremacy to other powers. They largely don't care about "winning the culture war" in the global sense, by spreading democracy and respect for human rights around the world, but are only concerned about local culture wars that they can exploit for political or financial gain. Some of them are only concerned with their own careers and social media following.

@@robertcline6137 They didn’t feel all that strong until the aggressors were vanquished I’d bet. Of course they had drive and purpose with their lives at stake. That’s not the same strength of a nation at peace under sane intelligent leadership. That’s not the strength that people generally wish upon their children.

Suggestion for Mr. Isaacson: in just 3 minutes into your interview, you interrupted Mr. Sanger twice. I found it annoying and inconsiderate as you hardly gave him much time to give a full answer. When you have a knowledgeable guest on, I want to hear the guest have an opportunity to give complete answers. You are not interviewing a nonresponsive politician here, and I'd rather here where Mr. Sanger takes the conversation than you. Given his expertise, he is likely to highlight the most important points.

Ima join the pushback on this point. It's not uncommon for Amanpour's and other highly experienced interviewers to interrupt interviwees in service to their mission of unwrapping today's most complex societal challenges. While the practice can look undue, proof of its value is in the interviewees' common ability to catch and follow their hosts' momentum.

Rather than recommending 65 year old books about communism or books about Chinese hegemony written by right wingers you should try looking up the definition of “woke.” Unless you’re one of those numpties who supports inequality and injustice….
