A lot of the problems were also is that I don't know how old your mom is I'm assuming she's between the ages of 45 and 50 but I have to say that it's hard when you have children when you're younger especially back before it was even really as common as it is today and you know from having had your children young that you grow up with your children so when you already have problems like with addiction and stuff it just makes your mistakes that much harder to come back from and I honestly think your mother wants to make things right but she just doesn't know how and she feels like things are so far gone at this point that she doesn't realize that her trying to parent you now will not work because you're already grown and you already have children of your own

Girl, I’m over here crying bc I feel your pain. My mom was an addict and was in and out of my life until I was 16. She sobered up for like 14 years and just recently relapsed badly. All these emotions hit so hard bc I strives to never follow in her footsteps but it would infuriate me when people say “be the bigger person. Try to understand”.

But it’s so hard to deal with all the drama and pain and heart break of going through it over and over again. All you can do really is pray for your own sanity and their safety.

The fact that your mom was fighting her OWN demons, has NOTHING to do with you. You deserved to be loved. You have every single right to feel the way you do. You were put in some kinds of situations that you could NOT control. I'm so sorry people are using you when you are in venerable situations.

YES! this is victim mentality. Yes it's very hard but you have to fight! If a child can take responsibility then so can an adult. Many might disagree with this comment, but it's the truth. We all like to be victims sometimes because it's truly even more hard to be and stay strong. But we must be! Accountability over comfortability.

When you said you felt guilty for those whom wronged you, it’s normal I have felt it before. It’s called stockholm syndrome. It’s when a victim has emotional responses to there abuser. You aren’t alone! And I’m proud that you’re taking your time to focus on you! Some have been dealt harder cards than others but focusing on how to fix it is key to overcoming that trama! I love you thank you for normalizing healing from childhood trama.

I could understand this frustration! You are not alone girl! ❤️

Time healing and forgiveness is mostly for the individual that was gaslighted or in a toxic environment. Therefore all of these things don't dictate that that person's Behavior was right or okay or even justified in some situations. Especially when people are toxic or narcissistic they like to use time healing and forgiveness towards that person they can say things like oh it's been years why don't you get over it Oh I thought you were healed why would that even bother you anymore or why would you bring that up or if you forgave me then it shouldn't matter anyway or be a problem the thing about it is just because someone has healed and has forgiven them doesn't require that person to stay in contact with them or tolerate those behaviors if they're being continued or have shifted into other toxic behaviors or more subtle ways.

I would listen to your story times even if they were 5 hours long. I love how you put so much detail in them. But in all seriousness, I think it’s ok to have boundaries. Yes I understand she’s the woman who gave birth to you, but you don’t need that kind of negativity in your life. You can forgive her if you want but you don’t have to be around her. It’s completely ok to cut people out of your life completely. I’ve cut toxic people out my life and at the time I was devastated but now it’s like whew that was definitely for the better. You don’t have to settle for less just to make other people feel good and comfortable. Whatever demons they have going on has absolutely nothing to do with you. THEY need to go figure out how to deal with them because that is not your responsibility. Blood does not give you the right to treat someone like shit. Once you cut them off eventually they’ll realize that they’re the fucked up one. But by that time it’ll be too late. You can go on knowing that hey at least I tried. You do not need those kinds of people in your life. I hate the excuse of oh this person is not mentally stable etc. But that’s not a reason as to why you should continue to be hurt by them!
“BEING A MOM IS MORE THAN GIVING BIRTH. YOU HAVE TO EARN THAT TITLE…”
“Giving Birth doesn't make you a Mother. It's the time, patience, and love you give your child that gives you the right to call yourself a MOTHER!”
Also please stop blaming yourself about what happened to you by that sicko. You were a child who needed to be protected. PERIOD. That situation back then WILL NEVER be your fault. I know I’m just a random stranger on the internet commenting on your videos but I’ve been watching you for a long time now and I hate to see how badly you were treated growing up an how you’re still low key being mistreated by some now! Please take care of yourself mama.

I'm 22 and I fight these battles that no one around me understands w her (also diagnosed with ptsd) not to mention the amount of friends I have that don't pour back into me what I pour into them. I took a step back to put myself first and cut so many people off (including her) recently and this is the reminder I needed that this is right for ME.

Alexis don’t ever feel like you broke her because YOU went through that trauma you didn’t cause it he did. I know it’s hard not to blame yourself I was in a similar situation and it fucking hurt when my pain was used for someone else benefit because when I finally opened up about it they sided with him and said I was just lying! So if that’s when shit went downhill it’s because SHE did not want to believe it herself she didn’t want to leave him so it was easier to try and mask everything then deal with it!

I love watching your story times! Your all that I watch while at work. Just got back from maternity leave and start the series again today with this episode . I’m glad I did, bc I can relate when it comes to your mom. I’m an addict myself for over 10 years and finally sober for almost two years, so I’ve been in ur moms situation and I have kids myself. Two of them were already born while I was going through my addiction and bc of it, their dad has custody of them and I’m slowly having them back in my life. It touched me so much seeing the other side of the fence as a child to an addict. I’m thankful I got sober while they were little and pray I never relapse, but even though they were younger I know it’s gonna effect them and already do. My daughter is 7 and is the oldest and starting to ask questions about not being able to stay w me for long periods of time and why her dad wants her to have nothing to do with me. As an addict myself I completely understand the consequences I did to myself and can’t blame anything or anyone but myself. The most important amends to make is to my children by putting them first and being there for them as a mom. I admit my faults and failures threw the years and have worked on not placing blame or minimize my actions or even try to make excuses. The fact is I picked my kids and family over drugs but now I’m slowly showing them that they are number 1 priorities now. I pray your able to heal and your mom gets the help and support she needed from people that go to school to help and fellow addicts. NOT YOU! It’s not ur responsibility to help her or make excuses for her, bc if u do she will never change. I love you !! 💕

Oh girl, how relatable addiction issues are for so many. I really do think strength plays a big role, it’s the easy way to numb the pain away instead of facing it head on. For some it feels impossible to handle and look for an outlet for survival. Don’t resent your strength, because it’s all something we strive to have but not all born with. You’re incredible and are changing peoples lives and starting conversation… keep being you.

Hey Alexis, I just wanted to to offer some advice and perspective which, of course, you do not have to take but I do want to share bc I do care about you as a supporter and it makes me cry when I see how much pain you have gone through and are currently going through with your mom. I also have a smiliar background with my mother as you do, although she didn't have any addictions - growing up, she and I would always clash and she would call me EVERY name in the book, saying I was a horrible daughter, that I always did wrong, and say other negative things about me (never to my siblings). She even tried to send me away to a correctional facility but the phone operator literally told her "ma'am your daughter doesn't meet the criteria to be sent here"....why? Becuase I hadn't done anything wrong. I have always been the staright-A student in every grade, never broke her "rules" nor did I hang out with friends because my mom never wanted me to leave the house...she was very strict, to a fault.
Growing up, I would lash out at my mom bc, in retrospect, I was hurt by everything she had and was still doing to me (emotional and mental abuse)....I only found peace with everything once I told myself that our mother and daughter relationship did NOT have to be perfect OR even exist....TOXICITY is NEVER acceptable EVEN if it comes from your own parents. Now I'm 25 and feel at peace with myself (altho I struggle every now and then TBH) bc I don't expect my mom to be or act like the mom I wish I had. I keep my distance and it works for me. It's sad but it's what I had to do for MY OWN well being and internal peace.
Alexis, I'm not saying you have to cut your mom out of your life but sometimes distance does work...you have so much love and charisma in you which is why YOU SHINE so bright (girl we all love your videos bc of your personality!). Don't let ANYONE dim your light. I'm happy you have a therapist bc, trust me, they help to find closure within yourself

Yes!! When someone is fed up and they are ready then they will leave. All we can do is pray for them and pray they leave sooner then later. I was in a similar situation with my older daughter and I can tell her til my face turned blue. She would get mad. So I asked my mom for advice. Wrong idea. Lol!! Not trynna catch a murder case. Lol!! So I could do is be there wen she needed me and always tell her I’ll always be there for her.
Dude would tell her I didn’t love her and I’ll never be there. I was always there. Always kept my granddaughter and reminded my daughter her baby deserves to live in a peaceful household and know her situation isn’t ok. Finally she left him. My babies are doing soooo good since. My granddaughter is now 6 years since yesterday. My daughter so strong minded and a strong women.

    Girl, i understand!!!
All of that stuff wanting you to do all the "adult calls" is setting u up to take care of her later on. Dont get me wrong, i love my mom and dad and would never let anyone disrespect them, ever. My dad passed about a month ago. Alzheimer's was very rapid and we had a real hard time with him for over a year. I never realized that my mom was so mentally "off". I have a seventeen yo. She is jealous of "any" interaction between my daughter and i. I have to make all the phone calls when she overspends. Its hard!!! I had to go into Food City Corporate Offices and pick up 3 bad checks in less than a month. She closed my account because she didnt want to be the only one "having bank trouble". Munchausen syndrome or Munchausen's by proxy is an interesting read. I was molested by a cousin starting at about 3. I told mom immediatly (sp) then i went to my dad. I knew my dad would go to the moon and back for me. That was the first time i was disillusioned with the adult world. But i paid the price. They said to "stay away" and "dont be alone" with her. I was 3 and an only child. I couldnt play with anybody else (the neighbors) or school friends. This is bull*+it! Nobody helped. When i was 13, i fought my cousin over this. She was 10 years older and i "whooped her ass"!
My early adulthood was horrible. I started therapy by myself. Im 50, and when i had my daughter, she begged me to come home so they could have her as much as possible. So, i moved back in with them and my grandmother. Things were ok at first. But the strangulation had already started. Now, its just my daughter, me and mom. Nobody is doing well. Mom cant go out of the house alone. I cant have one minute to myself. I cant spend any time with my daughter alone. When i was 14 she had a mental breakdown. I did all the cleaning, washed the clothes, and shopping and cooked! She would stare for hours at me like she wanted to kill me. Told me so a fëw times. Girl, hang in there, get a GOOD therapist, take frequent breaks with visits. Demand your respect! Dont let people run over you! Hold your ground and set bounderies. Dont waver, cause it will start again. Save the love you have for them, because you cant get it back. But they will contunue to do stupid things and expect you to get them out of any trouble they always seem to find. I feel for you. My entire adulthood has been like this. Ive been poisoned several timës. Ive lost great jobs because of her too. She would call over and over. She would find things for me to do, while im working. Like getting the car insurance canceled and it should be no trouble to take care of at my work. She thinks shes entitled because shes my mom. I still love her but i have to worry whats next.

Do not let someone treat you like shit and dim yourself just because you crave that relationship. If that’s what she wants she needs to put in equal work. The difference between you and her is strength. Some people don’t have it, no matter how loud they are. Sometimes you just have to accept that everyone’s different and handles thing differently and it’s out of your control. You just have to learn from it and move on because if you don’t it’s going to weigh on you and that’s putting your mental health at risk. Sometimes when I see or know somethings going on I have to say to myself or them I’m sorry. I love you but I just can’t. I can’t dwell on you when I have to put me and my babies and husband first. It’s a hard thing to do but you learn. Also I hear you when you say you get it with your mom and her fighting demons. You get it, it’s just hard to accept/understand. PTSD can be hard to live with. Trust me I know personally. So just keep trying. Keep moving forward. Trust God and that what happens in your life is done for a reason. Most importantly, cuddle with your babies. It releases Serotonin in the brain that helps you feel happy. Kinda like an all natural antidepressant.

My dad is exactly the same as your mom just without the drugs. He would always be extremely aggressive with me, get in my face, egg me on, and beat my butt everytime he was mad at something (didn’t have to be me). anyways I feel like he hates me because he feels like he failed as a parent with me. Maybe it’s the same with your mom. She introduced you to your abuser and moved you in with him, then turned to drugs and let you struggle. Now she feels like no matter what she does, she can never erase it. So in a way she kind of resents you because you are a constant reminder of her failure. It’s not about you it’s about her. I know it much easier said than don’t but try not to let it affect how you think about yourself. Sending you so much love mama ❤️ happy new year 🎊

It seems her drug addiction her parenting style also stemmed from her avoiding, not accepting your pain and her not wanting to face the fact that she caused you so much pain by doing what she did and by not supporting you and and what was going on with your stepfather. Her dysfunction, pent up anger towards her own demons caused you so much pain so much guilt!! And watching you pour your heart and soul out breaks my heart as a mom and a daughter!! My mom and I went through this, she would always get offended when I’d express how she made me feel as a child. She would get defensive and we would fight. I felt like she never took responsibility for the way she made me feel or she would say I just wanted to make her feel like a “bad mom”, in reality she felt that way because of her own guilt brought on by these conversations/arguments we would have about my feelings when expressed to her. At some point I realized I wasn’t going to get what I wanted/needed from her because she didn’t know how to. I didn’t blame her or think she did it on purpose. Or that my mom didn’t love me. So I stopped, I accepted her and forgave her off the basis of that, and started a new relationship with my mother. Shortly after she passed from COVID-19. I say all this to say don’t dwell in the past Lex I know you’re hurt but love your mama and even if that means you have to set healthy boundaries to protect you don’t keep holding onto something that’s only hurting yourself and your relationship with your mother and be grateful to have her in your life, I learned from her passing you will never get what you put into a person and that might not seem fair and I wish I would have learned this a lot sooner because I miss her so much😩love you #FAMBAM
