2:56 The first 2 lines mean something like "My first time at the Louvre, I wasn't that impressed." This is a cover of One Last Kiss by Utada Hikaru. I only checked out the original after hearing their cover and it made me even more impressed with how they arranged it
The Get Lucky cover is so well done musically, it reminds me of Codfish's cover of No Diggity in how good it simply sounds without being too intense or crazy technical.
I was pulling for them to take it all. There’s always a couple from each gbb that find their way into my rotation and these guys are it for me this year.
When they both kick in they almost remind me of codfish as a tag . They got those basics down so much the musicality is at a mega high standard they just play their tracks for us to enjoy .
All 3 songs Jairo performed were covers, and they were nearly exact copies. I dont believe there were any original melodies, unfortunately. But they did perform amazingly, and I would still agree with them ending up in the top 3 or 4...
I don't know why but RUclips completely stopped sending me notifications from D-low's channel. But I'm still here to say that this is probably my fav tag-team elim this year. They're so good together, and this elim is so musical, I love their style, delivery and composition. So thanks for reaction, mate, I'm as always happy to hear your thoughts on things I like especially if our opinions are similar🖤
I think the second routine is a cover of an ESC song. Eleni Foureira - Fuego - Cyprus - ESC 2018. Sick cover tho, they are crazy! I would love if you stay with your video editing style so far. I am no fan of these micro cuts. Anyway, much love! :)
The unexpected jab at the translator SENT me 💀💀💀 ngl he looked kinda out of place once the announcements got real simple like "from Japan..." "make some noise!" (even the most basic English speakers here would be fine without translating those lol) so I hope in future events the organizers get a better feel for what parts of the event require a translator. Big ups to him tho, I heard he was awesome for the times that they actually needed him like the event schedule, safety procedures, Pono's speech etc.
His name is Yuji (not sure about his full name) and he's somewhat well-known in Japan from what I've heard. Most know him as a TV-personality but he has also starred in some movies and series. He even has his own RUclips channel, @yujigordon . This means that he, most likely, isn't familiar with beatboxing at all. He probably winged his entire gig here at GBB23. With all that in mind, I think he did a great job! Live translation is no easy task after all!
Look I get that originals are going to be better than covers from a judging standpoint and I respect you so much as a beatbox legend but you yourself voted inertia first last year and his elimination was only cover songs. So my point is I guess you can’t have your cake and eat it to. Keep up the great work man love the music and the reactions. Just wanted to voice a constructive criticism as well
agree covers also aren't black and white (not saying d-low was saying they are), and what i mean by that is people can still 'cover' a song but completely change the structure, bpm, melody and other fundamental aspects of the song e.g. jairo in their cover of 'one last kiss' the fundamental chord progression is changed to major from minor (the original song) with the notes john-t sang
Originality is only one thing they are judged on though, whether it is a cover or not is only a small part of the decisions. You can be super original but if you score lower in the all the other areas then for example someone like inertia comes along with covers and still scores higher overall.
I have to say, I listened to the original fuego song and like the melody and lyrics and lot of things are pretty much identical upto the drop. Now while jairo's drop and some of the new techniques and synergy they showed were absolutely out of this world, our brains generally grow past those things after a while and just the melody and the lyrics stay stuck. But knowing those things weren't original, i'd probably just go and listened to the original song after a few weeks. Thats why bigman's wildcard still keep getting views cuz the melody and lyrics are so catchy, we take a break and we listen back and it still sounds great. So in my opinion that made the jairo's wildcard from like great to just good. just my opinion
@@niku1840 I agree whit everything you said however inertia did a 1-1 replica of montero and a 1-1 replica of a ynw melly song that I’m not sure of the title but the first section using lyrics like “got two on, got two on me. Blood gang and sue woo on me” and then just did original drops which is exactly what Jairo did I just can’t for the life of me understand his criticism in this specific instance but as a whole dlow is normally spot on
but espacially te pitch was so much desynchronised for my hearing. By far not on the Level of the Wildcard. But they did a teamup video with collapse i think, that was awesome.

Reaction ありがとー!!!
The first track is a cover of One Last Kiss by Hikaru Utada
The original song is awesome too
Probably my favorite one so far! This was so good.
been refreshing your page for awhile, finally updated. 😆
Going super well bro thanks. ManU couldn't beat us im happy. (I know you are too)
Been watching your exclusive Japanese videos since the channel started!
It's like watching Zen'hit and Bigman all at once
I didn't know about the Japanese channel, dropping a sub over there now!
Lotus covered Clam Chowda by Sylvan LaCue in their wildcard and elimination so in terms of covers they’re on the same level as Jairo
I also wanted to see tags that changed partners, not just by country, like Collaps and Yamori, River and John T.
All 3 songs Jairo performed were covers, and they were nearly exact copies.
I dont believe there were any original melodies, unfortunately.

Their wildcard is not an original piece but a cover of a cover of the song Fuego
