While I'm stoic and incredibly happy that MP is returning to DT. MM's drumming was also great and I really look forward to see the flavor that MP will add to MM parts...
I'm pretty sure, he won't play those songs for awhie. They'll have a new album out and tons of MP DT material they haven't touched in years.
They'll ignore the entirety of MM's run.

@@Revenant4k I just can't see it. 1. Portnoy just can't play some those passages. 2. The nostalgia bomb is just going to be too lucrative live. I'm half expecting this next album to be metropolis part 3.
I think it will be a mixture of skipping some very hard songs and simple it down to Portnoy's playing style. They can't just skip over a decade of stuff.

Well done man! I have the utmost respect for Mangini. He was the perfect guy for DT after Portnoy's departure. He is a God-tier drummer, no doubt about it. And based on every video I've seen of him, he is a very classy guy. He's handling his departure from DT with grace.

Thank you for putting that up. I am excited and saddened at the same time. But all in all, I think I am more saddened because I honestly think that Mike's Mangini drumming elevated the band for an even higher level of technicality, and he was a match made in heaven for Dream Theater. Mangini earned my eternal respect, and you gave him a great tribute and justice. You are a great drummer yourself and I hope one day we will see you in a great band ;)

I've wanted to hear Mangini with DT since I heard the Mullmuzzler CD in 2002. It was a dream come true that was the biggest longshot that I could think of at the time.
I'm really going to miss him in DT.

Mangini ist fantastischer Drummer. Er hat einen großartigen Job gemacht. Für mich ist es so: ich freue mich, das Mike Portnoy wieder zurück ist, aber Mike Mangini ist für mich jemand, der Spuren hinterlassen hat.
Und, Neal Morse, Transatlantic oder Flying Colors werden wohl in Zukunft ohne MP stattfinden.

Ich habe ziemlich gemischte Gefühle bezüglich der Entscheidung. Auf der einen Seite bin ich froh, dass DT wieder vereint sind aber Mangini hat die Band so gut ergänzt. Werde seine Chops auf jeden Fall vermissen. Bin gespannt wie Portnoy seine Parts interpretiert. Ansonsten wie immer flawless gespielt von dir 💪🏼
Genauso geht es mir auch. Und mir werden Transatlantic und Neal Morse band mit Mike Portnoy fehlen.
