As good as their live version. Congrats, I’ve been a fan since this Budokan dvd, or might I say vhs 📼 (that might very well have been the last thing I watched in vhs) I think that’s the song I’ve listened to the most. Top 10 songs live for sure.

Learning a piece like this by-heart is difficult and time consuming. Especially when trying to emulate a live performance.
Not only do you need to memorize the parts, but also the nuances of time / pulse shifting. Even Dream Theater speeds up and down during a live performance.
You made me remember learning RUSH drum parts from live performances coming out of a cassette tape.

I noticed you hold the sticks like Mike Portnoy from their edge. I asked on RUclips about this and people had no idea about its effects. In fact, they said Danny Carey does the same.
How does it affect bounces? Does it make them harder? Also do you get any wrist fatigue? Etc. What's it's positive effects other than more powerful hit?
I always wondered about how MP did not get any wrist problems from holding the sticks from the edge.

Hmm I think I use it for the only reason to get more powerful hits. I have no problems with my wrists. So it works good for me and I just like this feeling. 😅
