Such an important book-the first about a female who was able to pass difficult selections in the military, be married to an active duty soldier in SF, have a family, overcome health and other challenges, advocate for better rules regarding military protocols and finally gave the ultimate sacrifice leaving behind her children and a gold star spouse. Both heart wrenching and inspiring. May the sorrow of your loss, Joe Kent and your children and all your families be eased and God Bless.
Joe Kent ran for Congress in my district in SW WA State in 2022. One of his cronies stopped by my house one day and asked me to vote for him and mentioned he was a 2/75 Vet. Lucky for him, I have a soft spot for former 2/75 knuckle draggers. I likely knew his squad leader that jumped into Panama. He had my vote in 22 and he’s got my vote this year too. Way to get after it, Joe. RLTW

Listening to this podcast I got so excited for Shannon…I was excited to hear a person with real experience is the only psychologist that can see and know. To hear she died broke my heart. Ret PsychNP that started out as an EMT/Medic.
If we can’t have Shannon caring for the Mental Health of Veterans, at least we can have a politician that can see.

Was in C 1/75 in early '90's, really enjoyed the part about life in the battalion. Just bought Send Me and will start reading it today. Here's hoping Joe gets elected in November, feel like we need a lot more guys like him in Congress.

@grogdizzy5814 they don't make sense in my opinion, they claim equipment could never be given to another unit cause it's illegal and no one would allow it but everyone watched and knew they murder civilians, undermining the strategic goal of hearts and minds but nothing would happen if they talked about it
@@cbublitz1 tracking serialized items is a lot different than tracking actions that take place on the battlefield. If commanders aren't actually on the mission then they rely on their officers' reports of what happened. It isn't difficult to write bogus reports. Their stories make perfect sense to me and they get no benefit from lying.

I should have not done homework like Jocko. I wanted to be a SEAL my whole life, but when I tried to apply they wouldn't let me because my "academics were too high" and they shoved me into engineering.
I agreed only on the condition that I could try out for SEALS after my 6 years as a nuke. 4 years in, they told me that nukes can't cross-rate...

The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Lieutenant John Willink, United States Navy, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving as Commander, Task Unit-RAMADI assigned to Naval Special Warfare Task Group-ARABIAN PENINSULA, in direct support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM from 7 April to 21 October 2006. Lieutenant Willink demonstrated exceptional leadership, operational vision, and courage under fire in the battle for Ramadi. He conceived and executed a brilliant plan aligning SEALs with American and Iraqi Army units to train and combat advise them, taking the fight to the enemy in their historical safe havens. Lieutenant Willink spearheaded battalion-sized missions, leading his forces in a high intensity and bloody urban warfare, to emplace six combat outposts in Ramadi, in a highly successful clear and hold campaign. His unit conducted more than 200 sniper overwatch, raids, and clearance operations to account for more than 200 enemies eliminated and more than 200 captured. Additionally, he aggressively expanded the human intelligence network in Western Iraq and employed civil affairs to gain cooperation from the local tribes in building the Iraqi Police Force and taking back Ramadi from the insurgents. By his bold leadership, courageous actions, and total dedication to duty, Lieutenant Willink reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions to the United States Naval Service.
