  • In this video I talk about how to pick between the Rachio and the Hydrawise controllers. Both are fantastic units but their target audience are two entirely different customers. It's up to you to figure out what the customer wants, rather than what you want to install.

My landscaper does Hydrawise, but when I asked, he told me he could do the Rachio as well. Right answer! As bearded hat man says, for most of us retail customers, we want easy, not the pro version of anything. Thanks!

We're a company of about 4500 residential and commercial accounts and only use hydrawise. I'd say currently we have about 565 active hydrawise users in our database. It definitely makes life easier but by no means is it perfect. Can sometimes take a bit for customers to learn it but usually we set it up for then. We do have a Rachio contractor account also which allows us access to the few rachio customers we do have. It's a good clock but we're just used to hydrawise

Homeowner here. I asked my supplier for the Hydrawise Pro HC WIFI which I run in advanced mode from my laptop or smartphone. I work in IT as a programmer so a sprinkler controller is a simple affair. No issues.

I recommended switching to standard mode, you will find it a lot easier to program and you won't lose any features - My Hunter rep advised me on this.
Advanced mode is for people who are installing multiple clocks per day and want to quickly add settings without having to manually input them all.

Just stumbled on this video/channel late. In hopes that this account is still monitored.....I was curious what it takes to move a controller from outside mounted to the side of the house in the elements, and have it moved inside to a garage? Is this doable? Should an irrigation company be able to do this or is this something I need to hire an electrician for?

@@irrigationtipstricks7797 Thank you for the information and video. Im already jaded on irrigation companies. The ones that installed the system (as you will see in my comment for "was your system installed by a hack part 2) did a crap job. The other company I called that had really good reviews, forgot to show up on the day he said hed be here. Funny enough hes been to my neighbors house. Maybe I caught him on an off/bad day and should give him a second chance, but a loath trying to find good/trustworthy companies anymore. Just cant get the same customer service I provide to my customers and it drives me nuts lol.

The Rachio seems to have wifi connectivity issues with Android or Apple. Next time, use a laptop and find the wifi for Rachio and let the laptop connected. It is hard to explain but I did it for my neighbor after google searching for like 30-40 minutes. Google this issue and you will find the answer!
