In Texas larger clouds drop a ton of water a block away and zero on my yard. Hydra wise is the only system reading other nearby local systems and actually sees cloud coverage down to the half mile. Not just your city or area code. Rachio rain bird uses cheaper less efficient weather tracking.
The flow meter on Hunter is SERIOUS HEAVY DUTY. versus the cheap plastic rachio which cannot handle high psi. And runs on battteries. That sounds fun to replace and reley on.
What would be a great addition to these smart controller is a solar powered wireless moisture sensors that can be added to each zone. This would allow a specific zone to be skipped or watered based on the grounds moisture content. I've seen some hose end products on the market and I'm surprised larger manufactures have not implemented such a feature in their smart controllers.
forecasting, temp and humidity have no bearing where I"m at. Can rain or not at a moments notice. ground wetness is the only saving input for watering in the future. OR; when the unit watered last to know its normal dry.......
Those tiny terminals on rachio mean less voltage to open that large valve far down the line. Larger terminals means I can use a beefer wire to ensure that valve gets fed correctly. And it can go outside!!!!!! Next to main valves. Why would you want any thing indoor taking up wall space you could use for other storage when you have the Hunter app and hide controller behind a plant low. To ground. Rachio is cheap
Rachio has a tiny 1/2 inch pipe sensors. My psi would drop to nothing. My house sprinklers use 1 and 1-1/2 pipe. Rachio is for poor people in a small condo or watering a patio. Not for people with actual grass and nice stainless steel rotators vs pop ups which clog constantly
Rachio is a pretty app but can’t high end setups. I have a fertigation injection system fill it one every summer. Runs off the pump control. Not available on cheap rachio or rain bird. Also many more sensor inputs. And master valve to protect house water from chemicalized sprinkler water coming inside

By adding a soil clik to your system you would have that feature on your whole site. It would not be cost effective to have so meany moisture sensors.

other than outdoor enclosure; what else is Pro-HC over the HC hydrawise. ? same internals and program ?
