      Wow. Josh said that there will be a brand new Pure Drive model in January next year. Is this correct?
      That's on top of two new cosmetics for the current model coming soon this year, as he pointed out. Hard choices.

      @@ph-tennis Initially a Prince and, a few years ago, a Head Radical. I like power/spin/control and no tennis elbow so I go for a real all around racket. I really want to try out the Head Speed MP 2024 to see how that one is.

    On the fence of whether or not I should hold onto my PD98. RPMs at 50lbs… took a toll on my arm, but then I had it restrung with NXT Power/ALU Power Rough at 48/50… after the first hit I nearly cut them out 🤦🏽‍♂️

    • @ph-tennis
      @ph-tennis  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hi - yeh it’s a tough one, what was your issue with that hybrid?
      Have you tried the PA98 - you may find it slightly more comfortable without losing out on too much power!? Just a thought…
      Josh

    • @ER_aka_RAM
      @ER_aka_RAM 6 месяцев назад

      @@ph-tennis Thanks Josh! I love ALU Power Rough, but whether it was the NXT Power at 48… I had a pretty bad trampoline effect, with no control. Spraying every few balls, it sucked… I had it restrung with Hyper G Soft 19s at 50lbs and played a USTA tournament over the weekend… night and day difference, and my arm survived (:
      I’m still on the fence whether or not I should hold onto it, but it serves like a machine, and the lighter gauge string seems to give it a more balanced feel. However… I do need an alternate frame to play with (I’ve never demoed the PA98), but I wouldn’t want to venture too off spec.

    Good video! I like the part that you mention if it’s good for doubles as this is not much addressed in racked reviews. I am beginner/intermediate. Will the regular 300 gram PD be too heavy for me?

    • @ph-tennis
      @ph-tennis  6 месяцев назад +1

      Glad you enjoyed it! Yes I play a lot more doubles and find the PD 300g perfect for me. (I am currently testing out the PD+… video coming soon!)
      I would be tempted to try the 285g team weight for you, it will come down to serving and manoeuvrability (can you get 300g moving essentially)
      It also depends what type of ball your facing - if your playing other intermediates you may be fine with the team (285g) If you play harder hitters, the 300g is helpful as it helps absorb the shock from the bigger impacts and allows you to counter punch more effectively!

    IMO there have been three era's in Tennis. Wooden rackets, after wooden rackets and after the Pure Drive. Along with poly it changed the game. For better or worse will probably always be up for debate but even if you don't like them you have to give the devil his due.

      @@ph-tennis My all day insurance is/was the blade 100 because it has it all. The ezone 98 is not far but it kills my shoulder... So I m replacing it by the vcore 98 that has more confort but could be more difficult to use. So the vcore 100 entiers and makes my life easier. And if, for some reasons, I can t control it : return to the blade 100 again.
      To be fair, let say that for my style/level : blade 100 and vcore 100 are great. If I wasn t injured it, the ezone 98 would be perfect...
      with the Vcore 98 all feels greats but I have to give more, to be aware of my tech, always clean etc... If I am, points are mine, but it tougher to stay strong all a match and reality is that I m not good enough for that... 😭

    Pure Drive No. 1, never ever have I disagreed more on a Tennis related topic.
    Why not set a granny stick at No. 1 instead? Has even more power, light as a feather, easy to swing around like a badminton racquet and shoots the ball like a Golf club.
    Nonono, my all time favourite is my Yonex Regna 98, best racquet ever created by human beings. It ticks all boxes of a perfectly balanced racquet. Feel, control, spin, power, maneuverability, balance, stability, comfort, everything is just on spot.
    Only downside is that I ran out of excuses and have to blame myself now, whenever I fail a shot.

      If your talking precision frames, worth looking at a Pro Staff, Percept or Prestige.

    why do they keep adding new cosmetics to yonex rackets

    • @ph-tennis
      @ph-tennis  6 месяцев назад

      This is a great question with I think 2 answers, one more cynical than the other…
      1) the rackets are so good, they can’t make a meaningful enough upgrade within 2/3yrs of a release so to keep the range fresh they do a colour upgrade!
      2)they are just trying to drive additional sales by doing improved cosmetics…
      Either way it’s great (I think) for consumers as they then have a choice of cosmetic for a racket they like!
      It’s a nightmare for us retailers though, as you have to stock both colours in multiple weights and grip sizes…
      Josh

    • @stevenforlin2979
      @stevenforlin2979 5 месяцев назад

      I think it’s a great idea! Yonex has a smaller lineup compared to some other big brands, and some of us are a little more fussy about colour. Wilson does some cool limited editions each year and we picky yonex users get jealous haha. So I for one am stoked to see the new Vcore cosmetic. The red colour is the only reason I personally even dabble with trying other rackets!
