This is the best homemade edible glitter ive ever seen! I really didnt like the coloured sugar 'glitter' that was a trend a few years ago and store-bought edible glitter can be expensive so this is a genius idea 😍
Use freezer paper...shiny side up to spread instead of plastic wrap. It's easier to control...and reusable. And you can write on it so you don't have to guess what colors used.
Freezer paper is white paper with a coating of plastic on one side. Sold by Reynolds. Used for wrapping meats...if that helps. The plastic side ... waterproof...keeps it from getting soaked like parchment paper can. Aluminum foil is too weak in this sense as the glitter and foil combo will not be good....foil will fall apart, fingers will poke thru and such
So sparkly and genius. Plus you just gave me a great idea for this gold paint I bought which happens to be the worst, non-covering paint ever. Make glitter!
This is amazing as I have a cake due this weekend with edible glitter .... did the color change cause it look like it got darker once it dries? You are awesome Liz
Thank you for the tutorial. 2 questions. I would like to add flavoring, could I use jello instead of plain gelatin, if not how would I flavour it? Also If I wanted to make a lot how would I package and store it so that it doesn't dissolve or become sticky or go mouldy?
Plain gelatin does not get sticky or go moldy, it's shelf stable. You can add flavoring with candy flavoring but really you don't taste the sprinkles that much
@@SugarGeekShow Will the candy flavour make it sicky or go mouldy (is this an oil or a powder)? Also can one sprinkle the glitter into alcohol or will it dissolve?
Hi sugar geek show I made this edible glitter and used it on a 21st birthday cake. I was lucky enough to get to try it, but I really didn't like it at all. It was hard and sharp-ish and not really edible. I was wondering if mine came out wrong or if maybe I say it's for decoration only and to remove before eating, so maybe use only on buttercream as it can be cut off rather than fondant which it wont scrape off and i dont like wasting fondant. It did look amazing though! Thank you :)
I read your Edible Glitter Recipe and I did not quite understand how to make a color. You could describe this process in more detail and indicate the names of all the components? Thank you!
Can I use just normal food dye? Like no shimmer at all? I understand it won’t be super glittery and that’s fine by me. I am not able to find any at all. I just wanted to know how it will look.
Amazing video. Love Shannon also. She’s been very helpful. I’d love to know where you purchased the grinder. I can’t find one small and compact as this one. Thank you
Hi Liz, is it possible to substitute the gelatin powder with gelatin sheets instead? And if so how much would we use? By the way, this is a great tutorial. Have been wanting to be able to add some sparkles onto cakes.
Well, Here it is Friday November 8th. I made this on the 6th and it's still a pliable sheet ( except for the edges are starting to get "crisp". How long does this take to actually dry? Going to have to go another route since the cake needs to be done today and the "glitter" will still not be firm enough to put in the grinder. Love the concept and idea. Just need to know how long YOURS took to completely dry? I am using wire racks now that I have transferred it to get the air flow on both sides.
You mention that you prefer to use Trucolor metallics, but you didn’t mention the item number for the Trucolor powder you used. What is the item number for the powder?
This is so amazing and beautiful 😍 Thank you so much for sharing! When adding the colour, do you mix dust with alcohol? Or are "True Color"s already liquid?
I'm not sure if anyone would see this to help me quick enough, but i don't know if mine came out right! After i started pouring my mixture it started to gel up pretty fast. Is this what its supposed to do? Could it be because my room/table is cold?will my glitter still work? I need this for tomorrow ugh
@@SugarGeekShow thank you! It is thick...the mixture started thickening the moment i poured it. I'm gonna make it again but I'm still curious where i went wrong, cuz i dont know if it was JUST the cold. Thanks again
Hi Liz! I tried your recipe but somehow it did not work for me. I dried the gelatin overnight and for some more hours till completely dry. But it did not grind up in the mixer. Came out just as it was. Any reason why that might have happened?
i think the world needs to know you more!!!! this is amazing!!! kudos!
Adesuwa Ighodaro thank you ❤

We all need more glitter in our lives!!! Thank you Liz!!!! Really love learning from you!
Just saw this from 6y ago! Gotta try this and kudos on the background music!

Pls which one is freezer paper, how does it look? I tried it with foil and it didn't come out.
Is freezer paper the same as parchment paper? If not, Will parchment paper work?

Cloe Haynes that's a great idea! Tag me if you make it so I can see!
Cloe Haynes I'd love to see too.
THAT...was just AWESOME!!!
I like the music to this and my question is can I use the stove because I don't use microwaves?
Thanks for sharing this Liz! I am going to try this for a birthday cake I have to do at the end of the month.

Mam will it be also glittery in water ?
Wow! Thanks for sharing!!
Wow! I loved this. Thanks for the great tip.
Hi Liz thank u for your video it's really helpful . For the food color can I use the powder dust with vodka?
This is so great!!!
I'm so happy seeing this...going to try it asap
I used vanilla and it worked
at the beginning when you sprinkle gelatin, is there water in the dish? thank you
Yes, just go to the blog post for the full written recipe and instructions :)
@@SugarGeekShow thank you
May I ask the exact measurement of the ingredients you used for the edible glitters? Thank you in advance.
There is a link to the recipe in the description.
That looked like a ton of food coloring? What brand is it?
Hi can we do tht with veg gelatin or plz tel me some veg option loved your vedios
Love It ! Definitely got to try this!
Mine was a failure. It stayed soft even after a day. I followed the exact recipe
Brilliant!
I love this way of making Edible glitter, thank you for sharing
This looks super fun😯🤗
Absolutely brilliant. Does this work with vegetarian gelatine too?
yes
What kind of ? Agar agar
It's amazing. May I know what bloom index is the gelatin granules youre using please? Thank you
This is wonderful, but I was wondering if you can add sugar and/or flavoring so that it actually tastes like something? Thanks, Dee🥰
awesome! thank you!
Liz what brand of edible gold metallic food color do you use?
So what should I do for transparent (white?) glitter? Use white gel food colouring?
Can this go on whipped topping like the sams club whipped vanilla?
you are the best!!!! 😍😍😍

Dear .can we add metallic colour full in that small bottle directly .or can we add anything to metallic colour for pouring to gelatin mixture
Hi Liz. Would it be possible to add flavour to the gelatin when making this?
Yes but not necessary, you're not going to be eating enough to taste it
@@SugarGeekShow Could you use flavoured jelly instead of the gelatin. If not how else could you flavour it?

I havent tried that but if you do let me know how it goes!
That is so cool thanks for sharing x

Looks amazing, but What does it taste like
Amazing Lozzo you blow my mind again
Thank you tica
This looks amazing! does it work well with colours that aren't metallic?
No, it’s not nearly as shiny and just looks dull. I just tried it :(
Hi Liz how long will this keep? Stay sparkling?
Wow amazing 😀💁🏻🏴
If I use metallic coloring , do I need to use the Pearl Sheen?
One doubt in which liquid u r using to soak jelatin
Amazing video. Love Shannon also. She’s been very helpful. I’d love to know where you purchased the grinder. I can’t find one small and compact as this one. Thank you
It's a coffee bean or spice grinder. I got mine at Walmart. Target has them too
How you made that golden one which golden colour you used for that.
Mmmmmmaaaaaggggnnniiiiffffiiiikkkkk 😍💟🤩
So amazing!!!!! If u mess up and don’t skim it enough, whats the result?
Can you help me understand why mine came out like jello😭
Genius...!!!

I'm not sure about using the sheets, you could probably google some sort of conversion between sheets and powdered gelatin :)
Sugar Geek Show thank you Liz for replying!!!
I tried it with sheets yesterday and it works
What is the brand of metallic color?
Hi there! For how long could I store this in a jar? Thank you :)
How can we seal the glitter to the cake without it falling out?
Thank you for sharing this with us!!
Metallic paint is airbrush metallic colours or the metallic paint in small bottles to paint on directly?
Qasim Zaffar metallic food coloring
could you use an alternative for the gelatin to make it vegetarian?
Agar agar is plant based and a lot better for you
Can we use normal food color?
did you put water?
And can we melt gelatin mixture at stove for medium heat for 5 min

Hey, did that help?
can i use this into some drinks??
Can i dry it on oven
If I have a 12 inch cake how much of this would I need to make? Thank you!
Eres muy creativa
Does it dissolves on water/moisture?
Marcos Vinicius if you put it straight in water yes I think it would eventually dissolve the glitter
Can I use normal food colour
Without using metallic colour
so cool i love this
The glitter can last until?

If you go to the full recipe it explains the steps better but you add equal parts water to the dust to let it liquify then add to the gelatin
Sugar Geek Show Oh thank you so much. I must have missed it in the recipe 🙈 sorry
@@SugarGeekShow Hi Liz, could I use silver lustre dust with alcohol, incase I don't get metallic food color?
@@shivangigupta6280 You can just add the dust to the gelatin, no need for alcohol
If we want it to be more of a powdery consistency, is there a difference blade you would recommend when using the coffee grinder?
You can make glitter with cornflour instead. You won’t even need metallic colour. There are many recipes for that on RUclips. That’s how I make mine.
amazing

Wow
measurements? Is that just water at the beginning? can you use pectiin instead of gelatin since gelatin has pork?
Marisa Lander I would use Agar Agar instead of pectin. It’s plant based and work just as gelatin
Or you could use beef gelatin if you’re just trying to avoid just but not meat overall
May i asked the exsact measurement of the ingridients pls po
Measurements please
How to make edible food color?
