This is really cheesy, but I can't let go. The 1990s had a completely different vibe from today, people weren't so cold, sarcastic and stupid, there was a really good atmosphere in that decade, pop culture then was on its full prime, not to mention that Beethoven marked my childhood (and millions of others as well). You could never shot a scene like this in the late 2010s, ever. Magic on cinema is over.
I would like to relive the 90s again, I often wish I'd been a few years older so I could have embraced those times because ever since the millennium it's been reality, celeb culture, political correctness, terrorism & here in my country all we've been listening to is Brexit for years & a government that doesn't know what it's doing. Depressing times.😞
Nah, you just got old. Everyone believes that the era that they were teenagers in was the best ever. It was a time when you didn't yet realize the world was so complicated.
Here I am, a 30 year old grown man, and I'm crying tears of happiness seeing Beethoven and Missy and listening to the climax of this cheesy yet beautiful song. Does anyone else find this as heartwarming as me?
Kris The St. Bernard(Beethoven) was owned and trained by Stuntman Karl Lewis Miller and his Wife Kylie Norton, Miller worked at Universal during the 80s as a Young Stunt Coordinator. Kris was actually the puppy of Actress Rita Coolidge's Purebred Rosie who were friends with the Millers, She was bred several times during 1988-1989 as a 4-5 year old, in Mid Autumn 1989, she gave birth to a small litter, Karl named one of them a Boy, Kris(for Chris or Krispy) and adopted him. Rosie lived until 1998 and died at 15. Kris was an extremely intelligent Dog. Director Brian Levant had originally planned on hiring a large group of Animal Trainers just for Kris, but Mr. and Mrs. Miller assured him that Kris was very intelligent, eccentric and well behaved. This factors made Kris beloved by everyone on the set of Beethoven in mid 1990. Charles Grodin, Bonnie Hunt,Chris Castile,Nicole Tom and even 5 year old Sarah Rose Karr fell in love with Kris. Even Dean Jones,Stan Tucci and Oliver Platt grew to love Kris calling him a "Super Smart and Lovable Dog". On the Set of Beethoven's 2nd during Early 1993, Miller consented to allowing Kris to breed with Mitzi(who lived until June 2006 dying at age 14), Director Rod Daniel's Sister Sharon's 2 year old Boxer/St Bernard Breed who was called "Missy" on the film. Debi Mazur(she is the OPPOSITE of the character Regina) actually adopted one of Kris and Mitzi's puppies and named him Taki. The Late Chris Penn also adopted one of their puppies naming him "Chris the III". Penn loved Kris too and named the puppy after himself and after Kris because he "wanted a Kris St. Bernard for himself". After Beethoven's 2nd, Kris started doing work at various Live Shows starting in 1994. One of them was "Beethoven's Symphony" at Universal Studios Hollywood in which Beethoven would do a Slapstick Act and "Chase a Bitch". The Cast Members of both films kept in Touch with the Millers and would visit Kris a few times a year. Kris actually grew very close to them. But in late 1999, shortly after turning 10, Kris' old age begin to set in. Early in 2000, Universal informed everyone that they were working on a 3rd film, None of the cast wanted to return once it was learned that it was DTV only, and the Millers were none the wiser, Although Kris was still active, he was certainly starting to get old and it just didn't seem wise or logical to bring him back for a 3rd Film, let alone working with an Unfamiliar cast, they knew Kris just was better off not returning, and so Universal made the decision to cast a younger Male St. Bernard for the film, named Sandy, he was 18 months old and a Sheepdog Mix, making him non Purebred. In May 2001, The Millers informed everyone that they were contemplating the idea of sending Kris to a Hollywood Animal Retirement home. They stated that the 11 year old could no longer work, he was still active, but no longer had youth or energy to carry a film or live show. In November 2001, to assure his health would be maintained in his final years, Karl and Kylie sorrowfully gave Kris away to live and be cared for at the Toto and Silver Animal Retirement Center in Encino,CA. Everyone still visited him during the time but by 2005, the 15 year old was getting slower and slower. He was still very healthy, but was getting very old. He also grew melancholy and unhappy. Throughout 2006, his health begin to worsen. He developed diabetes and anemia. He begin to move sluggish, could no longer play, could no longer run and each time he was walked, seemed extremely depressed. His final year alive seemed so sad and Karl and Kylie had asked caretakers would he need to be Euthanized, they surprised the couple by informing him that Kris can actually die naturally, telling them that Veterinarians have examined him and happily stated that "He has nothing Debilitating. He's reaching ripe old Dog age. We know he doesn't have much long to live. But he won't go blind or loose anything else. He's just reacting to his final days". All the Cast Members of both films and the Millers(except Chris Penn who had tragically died earlier that year) went to visit Kris for one final time in October 2006. They all described him as in "Very poor spirits. Poor Boy is very sad. He knows his time is coming soon. We are all happy for the life he's lived, the lives he's touched and we're all optimistic he won't have to be put down. We all hugged him and petted him. He whined and we all were crying happily, what a Wonderful Dog, Kris. What a Fantastic life you've led, but all good things eventually come to end. Maybe there's a Doggie heaven, Godspeed Boy". Kris The St. Bernard Passed Away Peacefully in his Sleep at the Ripe old Dog age of 17 years and 4 months on The morning of February 8,2007. The Millers brought back his body home and buried him in their Backyard in El Segundo,CA and had a Makeshift Wooden Cross made for him that read: Peace Always,Kris. Roll Over Beethoven 1989-2007".

Just throwing this out there: If you refrain from having kids, you get to keep your young, innocent point of view. I'm 35 and I still get this way when I crush on a guy. I never had kids so life didn't change for me 🙂

1:39 Major props to them for singing this part without laughing. Thanks for the upload 😘 I use to sing this song to myself years after this movie came out. It always stuck in my head and kept in my heart. This sequel dare I say is better than the original. This song is so beautifully sung I almost wish it were a Disney animated movie hit.
I watched this movie with my girlfriend in the theatre. It was our only date that we ever went on before we went our own separate ways. Hearing this song makes me think of her
I LOVE THIS SONG AND ONE AND TWO MOVIES BECAUSE MY FAVOURITE IS EMILY 💜💖💕 I WISH THERE COULD PUT EMILY IN NUMBER THREE BECAUSE SHE MY FAVOURITE 😊 AND WHEN I WATCH IT I ACT AS EMILY 💜💖💕
This scene's my favorite since I was a little girl! (I miss watching this movie SO BADLY!😭) I wanted to get that movie, but that would drive my dad nuts! He doesn't like movies about animals like Beethoven or Disney's 'Homeward Bound'. Anyway, on 1:21, if anyone asks what movie Beethoven and Missy are watching, someone commented on this other RUclips video, ruclips.net/video/oId4rRGI7wc/видео.html. The movie is 'Matinee', a 1993 film starring John Goodman about the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. It was owned by Universal.
The footage being shown at the drive-in is from an actual movie that was released the same year as this one. It’s called Matinee which starred John Goodman and was released by Universal Pictures.
I really love this song because I have the best boyfriend in the whole world and we love each other very very much :-) he is always by my side and he always gives me the best kisses and hugs
That's awesome!! It's not easy to come across a good genuine man today (nor woman, unfortunately).. so if u know in your heart that he's worth it, hold on to what u got by any means!! Best wishes to ya and God bless 😊✌️
First kiss is everything to men and women. I remember my first “real” kiss in HS. I’ll never forget Carolina. I wouldn’t change anything. I’m 42 now. I hope she’s doing well.
When me and my brother were little, we had our own version of this song called "The Day I Fall in Mud" because we imagined that Rice fell into a mud puddle after the dude kissed her.
Reminds me of when I met my husband. We may not be “conventional” by some because we are a gay couple - but to everyone else I am feeling those feels ❤
It's even sadder when you realize the actors of these first two movies are dying off. The guy who played Varnick the vet is gone, the guy who played Gus the janitor and Floyd are gone as well. Charles Grodin (George Newton) is now 85 so he won't be long either unfortunately.
Thats why I'm here too!! I need to know this!! It's striking this crazy childhood memory and I totally forgot where I saw it and it clicked that it was this scene in beethoven! But I must find out!

@@Taysa1 he will rest in peace he was a good actor and he was very famous
Oh no I'm so sorry to hear that. May he RIP
I didn't know that until reading this 😭🙏
I love this so much
Aah.. My old memory song.. Miss that time.
Beethoven and Missy: the best dog couple in film history, hands down.
...to someone who is just like you...the day i fall in love
Back when everybody was rich enough to afford a house like that.
Thanks to massive inflation,we'll be lucky to own a house at all one day :P
Watched these two just yesterday...I was still small back then I would watch the 2nd all the time (we never did have 1 on vhs)
I used to have a St. Bernard named Boike. He died in his sleep at the age of 8. Every time I watch this it reminds me of him. R.I.P. Boike! Much loved and missed.
Kris lived to be 17. He died in February 2007.
I had shipped them so hard, until the end when he stepped over the boundries
Great song and movie!
amazing, belive it or not, this song actualy changed my life,im in love with it
Just throwing this out there: If you refrain from having kids, you get to keep your young, innocent point of view. I'm 35 and I still get this way when I crush on a guy. I never had kids so life didn't change for me 🙂
They don't make movies like this anymore. :(
I am glad i grew up seeing the Beethovens 1 and 2 movies.
Ryce was favorite character, her hair was cute in the 2nd movie 😍
Rip Charles Grodin and James Ingram.
Thank you for my childhood movies and song!
The Day I Fall in Love:D
Such a really good 90s movie
I always loved this scene!! Get it Ryce! XD
Love Story playing on the screen. Most romantic movie ever!! "Love means never having to say your sorry."
1:39 Major props to them for singing this part without laughing. It's so cheesy, but nothing, I mean NOTHING will beat it. @IronMan93 said it best with his comment:
The 1990s had a completely different vibe from today, people weren't so cold, sarcastic and stupid, there was a really good atmosphere in that decade, pop culture then was on its full prime, not to mention that Beethoven marked my childhood (and millions of others as well). You could never shot a scene like this in the late 2010s, ever. Magic on cinema is over.
Thanks for the upload 😘 I use to sing this song to myself years after this movie came out. It always stuck in my head and kept in my heart. This sequel dare I say is better than the original. This song is so beautifully sung I almost wish it were a Disney animated movie hit.
OMG! Missy and Beethoven are so cute together as dogs aww!!❤
I remember watching this with my girlfriend all the time and this song is how we got together 😁😁😍
This song is so pretty omg
90s forever.. I always liked this scene remembering my young self.
RIP Charles Grodin and James Ingram
And Chris Penn too
@@gustavvson indeed, can’t believe it’s now 16 years since he left us
Golden 90‘s
Love this song
1:13 you can tell she is feeling blessed.
oh i miss the time when i watch this movie, miss the old me
I like this version of this song, sounds more powerful than the original
This scene's my favorite since I was a little girl! (I miss watching this movie SO BADLY!😭)
I wanted to get that movie, but that would drive my dad nuts!
Thank you soo much!!
This is my favorite part! :D
Beethoven taught me how to kiss love this scene and song 😘🥰
I miss those days ..
Beethoven and Missy are both so cute.
Tbh i love this move
This is so cheesy that it's good...
Sometimes cheesy is good.
Especially on nachos! :P
Forever my jam
The footage being shown at the drive-in is from an actual movie that was released the same year as this one. It’s called Matinee which starred John Goodman and was released by Universal Pictures.
Whooo hoo Beethoven and Miss'.
Looking back on this scene as a grown ass woman..Ashley Hamilton's lips when he kissed Rice...Perfection!!!
Avery heartwarming film And I get a sadness Now that knowlng James beautiful voice is silenced....
When me and my brother were little, we had our own version of this song called "The Day I Fall in Mud" because we imagined that Rice fell into a mud puddle after the dude kissed her.
Jared Collier what like Regina and Floyd did at the end of this movie
That is adorable
The way rice felt i felt that in junior high school
thanks so much for this
Reminds me of when I met my husband. We may not be “conventional” by some because we are a gay couple - but to everyone else I am feeling those feels ❤
0:12 to 0:15 the noise just sounds so blessing.
Спасибо огромное за этот фильм! Фром Раша виз лов!
I miss the 90s 🥺 we all used to love each other fuck skin color bs 🥺
Beethoven and Missy ❤❤❤❤
It's even sadder when you realize the actors of these first two movies are dying off. The guy who played Varnick the vet is gone, the guy who played Gus the janitor and Floyd are gone as well. Charles Grodin (George Newton) is now 85 so he won't be long either unfortunately.
Also found out James Ingram, who performed this song with Dolly Parton is now dead too, he passed last year.
@@78FullSizeBronco And now producer Ivan Reitman has passed as well
Charles Grodin has now passed away 😔
The 90s dude, God bless the 90s
0:55 to 1:05 that's exactly how I am when I'm distracted and only have my mind set one thing.
Does anybody know the name of the movie playing in the background when they r at the movies?
Thats why I'm here too!! I need to know this!! It's striking this crazy childhood memory and I totally forgot where I saw it and it clicked that it was this scene in beethoven! But I must find out!
Matinee
LOVE this movie! Shoutouts to James Ingram....RIP.
😉 beautiful song
