I love the Be you - Do you - For you the most!! Precious!!!
Thanks! Love doing quote blocks ❤️
This is a good technique and demonstration so thanks for sharing. I have used a combination of this method and your label paper transfer technique using Minwax water based polycrylic sealer which is basically the same as the Varathane you use. With that method you still print in reverse on the label paper backing, then apply the polycrylic to the wood and then the printed graphic. Smoothing it out and eliminating the bubbles and wrinkles is the most important part just like in this video. You then carefully peel off the backing paper after the polycrylic has dried. No ironing or rubbing is required and I got great results.
Thanks for watching Dan! Yes that works well. It is so fun to play around with all the different methods
I'm totally addicted to your channel!! Can't wait to give this a try. I'm like an excited kid waiting on the mod podge to dry overnight 😁
Its like magic!!
I love the lessened dry time with this medium. My first try was a fail as I did not put enough on. No problem tho- I just sanded off, printed another graphic and it worked on try #2 . This is truly an inexpensive way to learn and eventually get to a great result!
I am actually liking it better then mod podge!!! Thanks for watching ❤️
I discovered this technique watching you. I’m so glad I did. Thank you
It’s a great technique ❤️
Wow! I think I like this better than the Mod Podge method. Thanks so much for sharing!
Me too!!! I’m using it a lot more for my transfers❤️
Loved the video! I am going to try the library to see if they have a laser printer as another viewer suggested. Thanks so much!

Beautiful. ❤️ Thanks for the great instructional video.
Is there any technique that works with an inkjet printer? Does mod podge work?
Thanks for watching ❤️ I do a video for ink jet projects ruclips.net/video/A4IELSc-grM/видео.html
Very informative! I think even I can do this now!
Go for it!
Very creative idea !!! Love it !! @ our upcycled life - is this sealer good for outdoors and to finish off tin projects ? Please advise.
Need an outdoor formula
Thanks, I work with mod lodge a lot but I don’t like that a lot of the time the paper buckles or wrinkles
I know and this doesn’t!!! I’m kinda hooked on it ❤️
So cool can't wait to try.
Thanks for watching ❤️
Have yet to try it but ty for sharing they cute
You should! Thanks for watching
I’m going to try this. Thank You
Thanks for watching Marie have fun
It works with laser black and white only or laser color prints or both? Like can you do laser photos on wood with varathane? Is the varathane the same as minwax polycrylic clear gloss?
I'm wondering the same. I purchased some Minwax polycrylic sealer based on some videos but I'm also seeing Varathane being used.
Diedra... please confirm which sealer should be used. Thanks from New Brunswick 🇨🇦
Either of those products will work fine and it will also work with colour prints. Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed.
Thank you! Just what I needed. I have a laser printer, need text on painted wood. You should put "laser printer" some how in your title. It seems most videos on this subject use ink jet.
I will keep that in mind!
My first time viewing your RUclips channel. Thank you love the ideas. What if I don’t have a laser printer, what can I use to make transfer into wood? I have a jet ink printer. I have wanted to make something similar for Christmas gifts.
It will work with a inkjet printer. It just takes a bit more time and you can’t put as much water on the transfer. Give it a try it’ll take a little bit of practice, but you can sometimes make it work.
This looks like it’s easier than the mod podge method. I tried your technique for that twice and failed both times. I’m a huge crafter so I was surprised that I failed twice! The lettering just would not stay completely on. I tried using very little water the first time, then more the second and still no luck. It seems like this method takes a lot less time to rub off and the lettering is much clearer. Do you like this technique better? Also, I am using a laser printer.
Hmm that’s strange to be struggling with a laser jet. If you send me pics on insta or Facebook I might be able to see what happening
hi. can i use the based for diy my dull bathroom tiles?
I don't know if this would work for that application. I would go to your hardware store and ask there what they would recommend. Thanks for watching!
Love this will try
That’s awesome!! Thanks for watching ❤️
Love this, I just had to purchase a new printer, but it’s a desk jet🥲
Still lots of projects you can do with a ink jet!!!❤️ thanks for watching
Thanks for this method. I have a couple of questions for you.
When wiping away the paper, is there a risk of wiping away your graphic? Also, we’re talking standard everyday laser jet printer using standard black toner on standard printer paper correct? Works with color laser printer as well too?
Finally, is there an optimum time to use the graphic once it’s printed on paper?
I use a laser printer with regular cheap computer paper and it doesn’t matter. I have printed them off and let them sit for a month and then used them and they still worked fine. And yes you can use a coloured laser printer.
Turned out good. Great job
Thanks 👍 for watching
Great video! Can you paint the piece in a dark color and do white lettering?
Your graphic only prints black ink
Hi 👋
I've watching your videos here on RUclips for a while now.
I was wondering have you ever used clear Mate paint to do the transfers ?
And would that actually work. 🤔
Maybe, you could try it if you like. Just idea 💡.
Deidre, look forward to new videos.
Thanks,
Dorothy
Yes I have and it works good! I like to use it when doing it on bare wood as it doesn't show as much when finished as mod podge
@@OurUpcycledLife Thank you ! Deidre. Very much appreciate you getting back to me & I'm looking forward to a new videos from you. Also, will be getting some transfers
Dorothy
Hello. thanks for your video. I noticed the Amazon link you provided was for the Gloss option. will this method work with the matte finish as well?
Yes, it will work with both. Thanks for watching.
Love these videos!!
Glad you are enjoying ❤️ love new crafting friends
Are you using Wood Transfer Paper? Which brand of paper do you recommend? Thanks 😊
You can use regular paper or cd label sheets the shinny paper with this transfer
I absolutely love ❤️ these ideas!
Glad you like them!
Amazing!!
I’m so glad you liked it!
Do you have to transfer immediately after printing? I don't have a laser printer and would have to go have printed at store.
Oh yes that is fine! Thanks for watching ❤️
Thanks this is better than acrylic spray.
Yes it is!
Can you use the canned spray poly acrylic?
Thanks for watching! I would think it would dry to quickly and not go on thick enough but worth a try
@@OurUpcycledLife ok, that was my thought. Thank you. I subbed! Glad to find your channel.
If you use pictures on the wood and waterbase clear coat. Do you put the colored print face up and then put more clear coat on top of the picture ?
This is a reverse transfer
Does it only work on wood, or can it work on shiny surface like tiles?
It wont work on a shiny surface. I find a chalk painted surface works best
Oh wow love your technique going to try it Thank You So much.. How Fun
Hope you enjoy it!
Very good, must try. From Mangalore, India.
Hope you enjoy
Is there another brand that can be used as this one is quite pricey?
Yes you can use any water based poly acrylic sealer ❤️ thanks for watching
Have you ever tried spray on sealer. Someone told me to try a triple thick spay on to seal my project with photos
Yes works great
I just stumbled on to your channel. I started to follow you. I LOVE what you create. I will definitely be trying lots of these. Thanks!!!
Thanks so much for watching ❤️ love new crafting friends
Have you tried water based polyurethane or spar urethane instead of polyacrylic? I'm wondering if it would work and hold up better on something that would be outdoors.
I have only used this sorry
Would the paper transfer and come off easily if you spray it and let it soak?
You dont want to put on too much water or it will also lift off the graphic!
Thank you!
Hope it was helpful.
What type of paper did you use and also the ink
I just used regular computer paper with my laser printer
Can i use that method in acrylic sheet?
I’m unsure
Can you clarify, what kind of paper are you using to print on? Is it plain white paper or special printing paper?
This is just regular computer paper thanks for watching glad it was helpful Victoria
We had a thicker computer paper on hand when I did a few signs but decided to source out a thinner paper. I found thinner paper at Costco, brand name is Rolland Hitech. Comes in a mega pack of 800 sheets for $14'ish. The thinner paper was much easier to take off than the thicker paper.
Can you use Minwax poly acrylic to do this?
Certainly
Can you use this with scrapbook paper?
Do you mean transfer onto scrapbooking paper or print on to scrapbooking paper
Can you use it to transfer to metal?
If painted with chalk paint
Thank you!
Thanks for watching Linda glad you
perfect Thanks!!
You're welcome!
I tried and in some areas, I rub off the lettering.
Am I rubbing too hard or, did I use too much water or, did I not use enough poly in those areas? Thanks.
Are you using an inkjet or laser jet printer that will make a difference
Can the varathane water based sealer be crystal clear satin? Thank you.
Yes it can
Try an old (wet) toothbrush to remove the paper backing.
I have tried that, and I find that it was a bit too aggressive, and it rubbed off some of the graphic. Maybe I need to find a really soft, bristle toothbrush, and try it again.
True … be gentle as the ‘black’ is simply carbon powder and plasticizer ‘melted’ to the paper by the laser printer. I apply 2-3 coats of water-based acrylic to protect the stencil in applications that can wear. (Ie base of a tray) Thanks for the video … it’s very clean and clear. 🤗
Perhaps surgical scrub brushes work wonderfully well too. (Lee Valley here in Canada) .... super soft bristles preferred by doctors
Will this work on other painted surfaces ?
Will work with mod podge on chalk paint
Will this work for transfering on fabric?
Yes it will but not washable
Can be also use inkjet?
Battle Of The Printers: Inkjet Vs. Laser - Which Is Best For Image Transfers?
ruclips.net/video/Kh1Awo6SeKo/видео.html
Nice!
Thanks!
Does this work on smaller, finer letters?
Yes it will
Cute
Thanks!!!❤️
@@OurUpcycledLife I’ll let you know tomorrow how it comes out ty for sharing everything you do
How long does it take to dry?
It will depend on your weather and your humidity
Do you ever find that the polycrylic leaves too much residue around the text?
The thumbnail says use Polycrylic, in your video you use Varathane. Does the result differ using Polycrylic instead of Varathane?
Both will work the same
Varathane is a brand like Minwax is. Both, polyurethane and polycrylic are water base finishes so both work the same.
Why does the title say your using 'polycrylic' when you are using varathane? They are 2 seperate products.... very misleading.
What is that? is just a normal paper ?
Yes, it’s just regular computer paper
Does this work on black and white photos or does it need to be color? Just tried one and nothing transfered lol
It will work on either
Can it work on acrylic signs? Lol
I use varitain but didn't go proper I didn't paint the canvas
Do you have to have a painted surface before you do this transfer method
Your picture on pinterest shows you using polyacrylic, yet you are using varathane in the tutorial...which is it?
Either will work
So I am trying this right now with a photo of my granddaughter just waiting on it to dry
Let me know how you make out. Thanks for watching.
@Our Upcycled Life so so I used a door hanger for my practice run and let me tell you I am absolutely amazed, I love it, it worked so easy with no mess. I wish I had learned this a little sooner and I could have tried selling some for fathers day. If I can figure out how I will send you a picture of mine
Excellent ❤️
Has anyone noticed there is NO MENTION OF POLYCRYLIC in this entire video? Varathane is not Polycrylic - it's a totally different product. Your thumnail and title is completely misleading.
This method will work with either
So you are charging people on etsy for other peoples quotes.
