My Sensei said that the origin for “Tsubamk-gaeshi” is that it resembles a swallow diving down on its prey.

Yeah I noticed that too. I’m pretty sure they use the same mats and stuff underneath at all the tournaments. Maybe there were microphones this time?

Tsubame is the French hirondelle, so... the bird named swallow in English. So it's a very beautiful name for a counter.And quite relevant.
I'd rather say it's because swallow is a quick bird. But if it's another explanation... (I have no proof of it)
