- With Tilian Pearson departing Dance Gavin Dance for the second time, Andrew taking over clean vocals and a whole lot of question marks going into the future for the band, in this video, I attempt to go over why this may pose an issue sooner rather than later for the band; or at least cause some issues in the future if some changes are not made.

With Tilian's departure having a bit of time to simmer, combined with Andrew Wells taking over clean vocal duties, I wanted to talk a bit about the new material releases, the future of the band and why Dance Gavin Dance were so special to begin with. What're your opinions on this and the future of the band/the new material?! Be sure to let me know down below!!!!!!! But for now, cheers, rock on, stay heavy and have yourselves a fantastic rest of your day or night, depending on when you see this!!!!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
War Machine and The Ghost of Billy Royalton are better songs than the new singles because of Tilian
Amen.
Their problem is they've never been metal. They are rock. At closest, one might be able to claim they were post-hardcore. Not trying to be a snob here. I listen to hardcore, various subgenres of metal, progressive (rock and metal). I'm not an elitist by any stretch of the imagination. It's just a fact.
Wait, there are people that thing DGD are metal? 😭
@@TheMetalTempestYT Oh, I assumed "Metal Tempest" was a metal channel. Sorry.
Big fan of DGD but I've been clamoring for Tilian to go since I heard that Abomination of a bi-lingual track on "Prisoners." Between that and "Jackpot Juicer" sounding like a "Prisoners" B-Side album. I'm glad they're refreshing the sound. Plus seeing them live with Andrew IMO was more enjoyable then the last 3 Tilian era shows I've been to. It's nice to not see a grown man gyrating on his mic stand aggressively. And Andrew's vocal capabilities gives them more range to play Jonny and Kurt era DGD music that didn't fit Titian's vocal range. I'm sure new DGD fans from acceptance speech on will be upset. But I promise as a long time fan this storm will pass and the music will continue to be great. Trust the process.
Replace every reference to the "Afterburner" Album I foolishly referred to it as the "Prisoner" Album lol 😂
I'm hoping this shakeup changes the style and promotes further growth from the band, They are my favorite band of all time and im not trying to talk smack but the last 2 albums minus jackpot juicer (Artificial Selection and Afterburner) were major let downs and felt like creative steps back from the ones that came before. A more secret band/Eidola vibe would absolutely kill (in a good way) for the band
Funny how Slaves aren't the same without Johnny but DGD superseded that with Tilian.
Certain bands can't lose a vocalist, it would take out a crucial piece of their sound. The Fall of Troy is one example I would give of that, replacing Thomas Erak's vocals seems impossible. DGD handled this before, I have confidence they can do it again. The new pair of singles sounds pretty good so I'm hopeful.
On a semi unrelated note, I think Kurt Travis's vocals are underappreciated.
Kurt is definitely an underrepresented era.
I truly hope that they're able to bounce back. I personally feel like Andrew has some mighty big shoes to fill, that's for sure. Great comparsion with Fall of Troy honestly!
His solo stuff is fucking awesome.
This is going to sound a bit hilarious but think of when Creed lost Scott Stapp. I'm showing my age but some bands just can't replace. Think of Zeppelin without Robert Plant... wtf.
@@TheMagicalArden Thomas Erak or Kurt Travis. I think it applies to both.
@@TheMetalTempestYThe really doesn’t though, Jon is the one who’s gonna be filling the shoes and their plan is to have Andrew contribute about as much as he has been. He even stated this in an interview. Jon’s gonna be the new frontman so it’ll be more like Secret Band feat. Andrew Wells. It also frees the space for more features vocalists as well so, personally, I think the future is bright despite how much I’ll miss Tilian era
I liked the new songs. They sound like Periphery without the djent.
I might steal that lmao
@@TheMetalTempestYT Go ahead lol
Periphery is my number 1. Didn't know anyone else knew about them lol.
As much as I enjoyed the Tilian era (being when I got to learn about DGD) I feel like the were starting to settle from a creative standpoint. Maybe this is the change they needed.
ruclips.net/video/pdpnn45mir8/видео.html like Andrew can't do the last minute of this song. that's a Tilian only situation.
I have a problem… I’m all out of Dr Pepper, and all of the stores around me are closed until the morning.
This is a code red in my book 😭
@@TheMetalTempestYT Nah, this is Operation: BBQ water.
they should get heavier and make Jon THE guy. Andrew should play guitar and do the parts he's needed, but split up old clean parts between Andrew and Will
Andrew said in an interview that Jon is the true frontman of DGD. I'm sure Andrew will still contribute on guitar as well
Andrew is the most talented vocalist DGD has ever had and has already absolutely killed his vocal appearances on DGD to date. I think Andrew is going to prove a lot of people wrong once he really settles in. It's just another era in DGD's catalogue that will push them in new creative directions, which honestly DGD needs. Their last album and ArSe felt like they were beginning to settle.
Ha! JINX!
My only counter to this is that even in concert he tweaked his voice a bit to sound like Tilian. Would he wanna keep doing that? Would their sound change and become more generic? I love Eidola btw but it's just different I think.
@@shoes-r1x Totally understand where you're coming from. I think it's because Andrew didn't want to step on anyone's toes, he's a humble guy and never wanted the attention to begin with. I think once he settles into his role more and accepts his place as a more essential creative force in the band it'll allow for his natural ability and style to shine more.
So how do you survive without Tilian... with that said I saw them in concert with Andrew singing and he's a monster. Sounded superb but is Tilian replicable??? I doubt it.
preach king
I’ll audition for their band
