Pastor John thank you for your series on Philippians 4:4-7 as a result my anxieties have been lifted and I have an amazing sense of peace I’ve not known before! Praise God!!
Would it be helpful to commit to keeping a daily journal? I only suggest, because It seems to help me in having a deeper, more intimate relationship with Jesus, focusing on the meaning of heart & mind to the heart & mind of Jesus. I tie in scripture to my thought-process and it helps in learning to turn from self to selfless. (Yes, my attitude gets in the way, a lot. I imagine, a lot, Jesus is laughing with me. LOL!) Praising Jesus for his loving care. Joy!
@@holycats8554 you make a good point there. I don't journal as such but I do make notes in my daily readings. The YouVersion app is also quite helpful to use as well.
@@HearGodsWord Thank you, I might look into that app as well but am realizing more & more, the isolation that has resulted in 'hand-held' technology today.
God's peace certainly transcends all understanding and is worthy of pursuit. Philippians unravels some practical ideas for obtaining it and keeping it through the Holy Spirit inspired teachings of Paul. I think we bring God glory through our thought process as well as our actions. We need to be careful in our minds because that is where we cultivate good or bad thoughts that eventually expose themselves more transparently through our actions in the eyes of others. Yet, God is our ultimate audience at all times and at all levels. If our goal is to please our Maker, we need to recognize that all aspects of the battle need our consistent consideration. Thank you for these teachings, I hope that God will continue to use you and your ministry to bring Him glory and share His Word with millions.
Pastor John, you sound sick? God speed in your recovery. Thanking God for all you devotion to the saints. This type of teaching is my favorite in all the world! 💝
Amen to philippians 4:4-9, 2 corinthians 6:14-18, matthew 6:24, 1 john 3:10 and this message, binding oneself to all excellence in thinking and practice learned from Christ in action in my life, the lives of my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, acquintances, opponents and the body of Christ while binding to hell every spirit of passivity of putting God's word into practice, binding to hell being unequally yoked and have any common share with those who do not put excellence in thinking and practice into action in what has been learned from Christ, in the name and by the blood of Jesus Christ, hallelujah!
The Peace of God is..Contentment..knowing God Knows what you need before you ask. And He is willing to Give you everything you need and Deliver you from evil. Guard your Mind and Heart from Pride..Lust..Greed..Anger and Worry. Be content and Trust God! Jesus explains this in Matthew 5 6 7.
@Huey Leadbetter beware of Kathleen Wharton, she does not believe in any scriptures other than Matthew 5, 6, and 7. She is a troll who follows John Piper around...
You can listen to a pastor talk about peace or in this case.. read about peace in book. And you may feel peace for a half an hour..tops! Tomorrow you will not even remember what he said. The Only Way to Real Peace is from God and to Do it..His Way. There are no substitutes nor short cuts.
I do want the peace of God I do see good evidences of his work in my life but I’ve been anxious about knowing in my heart on the inside that He has really saved me For the life of me I can’t work it out (or figure it out) if you will I can say honestly that He is all my joy and Hope and I long for Him truthfully I just need rest the rest that only he can provide I’ve prayed for years I’ll never stop prAying because I believe Him And I have joy in praying to Him anyway but I would like to know deeply on the inward parts that He has saved me for Himself I can say that He is my treasure I do love Him I would rather have Him than my own life seriously
iz thefaithful You will have to decide which supersedes the other.......the fear of hell or belief in the resurrection. Be honest with yourself when you answer that.
Mr. C I will say that I do have a fear of hell but it’s not the reason I follow him and I hope for the resurrection so that I can finally be free to do all the will of God completely Honestly I want Him not looking for just an escape from hell
iz thefaithful Then why do you follow him? The fear of hell is a selfish endeavor and few believe in our ability to comply with scripture. So, what is your true motivation? Simply hoping that all of this is true won’t sustain or satisfy you. I’m not trying to corner you into saying something you don’t want to say. I just know that without a solid premise for your beliefs, you will be continually disappointed in yourself.....and God.
Mr. C I believe Him His Word what he said who he is He is the way the truth and the Life no doubts or questions about that at all He made me and made me for Himself that’s where I belong with Him Also turning from sin to the living God-Jesus Ima a sinner who needs the Savior (Jesus) not only in eternity but day by day I guess I was looking for encouragement if you have any
The peace of God does indeed produce a type of indifference. Jesus taught that the flesh counts for nothing. This can only mean that the demands of the flesh are to be ignored, denied, or at least questioned so that our true identities can be revealed. It’s the spirit that gives life!
Pastor John, What is the platform, software and hardware that you are using when you are recording this? Is it screen recording using a ipad with pencil? Please I want to use your method especially now that we are limited in meeting together (social distancing) because of this epidemic. Thank you and May the LORD JESUS CHRIST bless you with HIS grace and peace.

I'm glad the word practice is there because it's easy to have the knowledge but harder to put that knowledge into practice.
