After 41 yrs 36 as an owner operator, I'll never forget three pieces of advice given to me by an older driver in 1979, 1. Don't do drugs to make a living, 2. Don't cheat on your logbook or your customers, 3. Don't driver for CR England, my best advice to newbies, keep your ear's open and your mouth shut, and the most important, patience, patience and patience, or you will be miserable and pissed all the time.
Thanks for your videos (especially this one!) I am 6 weeks into trucking now and it's been really helpful to hear your thoughts and advice. Your wisdom is appreciated. :)
Wow! So informative and brought points I haven't even thought of. I'm a newbie and your video is truly fabulous 👌 thank you for waking up early and make this video! Be safe!
Congratulations Faith I’m about to start my 1st week I’ve seen some crazy things already doing night drives in training. Thank you for the knowledge and kind vids! 💯
First week? You are just about to start seeing what really happens out there. You're about to see all the bad accidents not many people will see. And good luck with winter up north.
Thank you for sharing I Made a cool spreadsheet on my iPad to keep track of mileage and experience whin I cross state line type mileage in fuel receipts scale I like it and gives a birds eye view for trips fuel consumption
That winter time is no joke and you need to be prepared to SURVIVE if it comes down to it. I got stuck on the side of the road for 4 days straight last winter 🤷🏾♂️ it gets serious out here
Good video Fab. Usually I am bothering you a lot once you are doing live, requesting so many videos about nw truckers. It's good that you start covering most of my topics. All the best to you for your first year. If you get any expertise or understanding on dispatching please do share with us.
How do you guys clean pots, pans, foreman grills, air fryers, etc? Take it in with you when you take a shower and wash them in there? Always been curious
@@ikeho1790 Thanks. The idea of cleaning dishes in some truck stop bathroom is disgusting. I'd rather use a big plastic tub and an outside faucet than a bathroom.
@@chilloften Thanks for letting me know where it is. I had nightmare thoughts of restroom sinks before finding out there is a place for washing dishes.
Can i do otr as a new driver since some companies will put me with a trainer before allowing me to do it? or do you think i should wait at least 3 months before i start it
Noticed myself gaining weight after a couple months. I’ve dropped all the weight gain and then some in the past week doing some fasting 12-24-48 hours at a time while drinking a potassium chloride + pink salt water mix and eating basically huge salads when I do eat. I’ve gained tons of energy and healthy benefits while doing this besides a little bloating.
Today's first "Year" just has to learn as we did in the 1990's yes 1st year can be crappy for ALL,Learn & put some cash on the side even if its in your pockets, food is high, dispatchers cost you money etc, don't be Money Grib be smart your first year can really get you financial, that & payin up the bills will make you more money in this game
Hey, thanks for the questions. There is a policy or regulation that all CMV drivers are required to meet. You can drive 8 consecutive hours before you HAVE to take a 30 minute break. You have 11 hours of total drive time throughout the day.
Smart truck route app is a great gps I have a Garmin as well but I use the smart truck route app it's better than the Garmin's and rand McNally if u ask me
65mph Trk. Can count on a 60mph average! Or 300 miles every 5hrs ! Also you will never run out of hrs if you run 8.75 hrs 7 days a week! Not practical but true 🤣😂😂
That's only in a perfect world and we all know the industry is not perfect. I've never had a week that I could run 9hrs a day for 7 days. My hrs are all over the place.
@@thetexastrucker7934 I ran a us mail rout 6 days a week. After 911 all mail was not put on planes so we trucks had to run 7 days a week! A 12.25 hrs day but drive log with pre-trip was 8.75 ! Had a lay over before return trip!
Young lady I have the up most respect for you. The general public have no idea what an accomplishment it is to drive a big rig for a year. I didn't last long otr in 03 , old hour of service and you used sleeper birth every time you blinked an eye..2 or 3 hours rest at best. Insane. Plus wackjob trainer etc..i ended up working for an agriculture company hauling chemicals and fertilizer for 7 years..long days but home every night.. I would really ,really consider going back to school...not getting in your business..please stay safe and God bless.
If you have time without having to edit any personal or confidential information could you show us viewers how to do your E-log, in school they show you how to use a paper log which is still confusing to me.
Questions: *Did you go through CDL training through a company? *As a Lady, what was your most difficult thing to learn about the pre-trip and skills? * Did you know anything about a vehicle at all? *Were you intimidated by the test at all? Thanks for the replies.

Have you ever camped before?
The major truck stops have a little sink they clean their coffee stuff in. I clean it there.

So you like college softball chicks then?
Considering I played soccer for 14 years this statement is not all correct. But thanks though! Softballs chicks are pretty dope.
Claw hammer 🔨. Put seal between claw and twist! Much easier!
Just break it with a tire thumper.

Congrats on the one year
How much hours have you drove for straight without rest and is there a policy ?

You should put all your info in the description. People are lazy. They will be more likely to check out your IG, etc... Good video!
Now you can go almost anywhere once you get that year
Good stuff, keep it going
