Kisbie, Thanks for this look at the life and managerial methods of 'Stroller' George Graham- certainly one of the top managers of the 80s. Interesting look at his triumph with Arsenal in that cliffhanger season of '89 when the League literally went to the last kick of the ball!
George Graham was a born winner as a player and a manager for the Arsenal. The positive of Graham when he won the Fairs Cup and the Doubles fifty two years ago and fifty one years ago as a player for the Arsenal and when he managed the Arsenal two league titles thirty three years ago and thirty one years ago. Two league cups thirty five years ago and twenty nine years ago. FA Cup twenty nine years ago and CWC twenty seven years ago. The negative of Graham was with the bungle scandal and then managing our rivals Spurs which was a pure insult. Plus selling David Rocastle which was the biggest mistake ever twenty nine years ago. But still Graham was successful manager in this country for the Arsenal.
Och, so many people dead and gone... it's amazing how Terry Venables always looks the same while here I can watch fairly young Don Howe and Dave Sexton... I was 16 in 1989 and fully fledging my Rangers support at Ibrox, well: it's shocking how these young-looking people have passed away in recent years, being 80 or something... aye, time's gone away so quickly, hasn't it?
At Villa 1962-64, only ever played 10 games but can you tell me if Blues and Villa were ever in the same reserves league? From 1968, Villa were in the Central League and Blues were in the Football Combination which was more southern based.
Hi Kisbie, looking at using some of this footage in a film. Hoping to track down the makers/owners of this footage so we can get permission to use it. Any steers?
George Graham's team was attack minded until the team got knocked out by Benfica in Europe & Wrexham in the FA Cup. Then he went into defensive setup in the next season...
They believe it's got to be aggressive but icy cold-electronic-plastic... they can't understand it's got to be old hard rock and intense anthemic '70s music, I'm thinking about the fantastic blend of melody-orchestra-synths Alan Parsons was capable of.
26:08 I can't believe that, still to this day, people say George Graham didn't touch the ball there and it wasn't his goal. All the replays show the ball changing speed and/or direction after Graham swung his foot at it. Neither of these things would've happened if he didn't touch it! I think the official records say it was Eddie Kelly's goal but my eyes tell me otherwise!
1990/91 is an underrated season - the appetiser to 2003/04
Arsenal only conceded EIGHT away league goals that season..a record low..not even Chelsea of 04/05 conceded less goals away from home.
Whoever posted this, you are a legend, mate. I had this on video as a kid and it was one of my treasures. Cheers !

If Graham was so attacking as a player why was he so defensive as a manager
Coz he was a midfielder!

the music for football vids never fails to amaze me its absolutely shocking. where on earth do they find these loony tunes.
