I was always an avid Brenda/Dylan supporter, and maintain that having him leave her for Kelly was the most idiotic thing that the writers ever had him do.
Situation with Dylan and Brenda's parents was too complicated. I guess he got tired of this. And the Paris trip made them grow apart. I ship them too though.

I think a big part of 90210 being a huge success was the intensity and chemistry with Dylan and brenda so when the writers made a poor decision too break them up ,the show went down a few notches and then shannen being left go made it alot worse.luke did not have the chemistry with kelly or any of the other actresses on the show that came close,it was just like ok and thats it.

Shan was stunning and had the charisma and confidence to match. She was the best actor on the show and was the one of the biggest reasons why the show was a hit. Even Luke Perry said Shan was one of the main reasons why the show was such a hit and added that they threw her under the bus referring to her leaving the show. I’m glad they all seemed to really enjoy each other when they did the reboot and Shan got a standing ovation onstage with all of them. Rose McGowan said something so telling. She said what hurts someone like Shan so much is the impact negative stories have on public perception. It’s the mean looks or glares in the grocery store, and I never ever imagined how hard that part could be. I feel like Shan has gotten so much love since she passed. I kind of hope she realized how much love there was for her, because I don’t trust that she probably ever did.

Even though this season is boring and Brenda got sidelined too often, I still think it’s her year. The bitchy Minnesota roommate, engagement to Stuart and his butt, becoming a radical animal rights activist and then Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with Crazy Laura. All this with a thread of will they or won’t they (get back together) with Dylan and will they or won’t they (come to blows) with Kelly. More time was probably spent on Andrea’s pregnancy and David’s addiction but only the Brenda stuff is close to being as fun as season 2 and 3 stories.
Well said. I agree. I think ShN would have moved on from the show in another year or two had she stayed after season 4. I remember Brian Austin Green telling her she would have hated it because they just kept redoing the same kind of things they had done in prior seasons. The show didn’t downhill. Maybe it was a blessing for her that she left after season 4.
The Andrea storyline in seasons 4 and 5 was just ridiculous. Too bad she did not wait just one more year to get pregnant in real life; they could have temporarily written her out as studying abroad as a sophomore and then brought her back. They should have just sent her off to Yale after HS. They learned when Jennie Garth got pregnant in season 7 and just showed her from the waist up in all her scenes.
