A lot of people are going to be pushed out of LA when rent inevitably raises and property values are going to skyrocket and it’s not going to be the average Joe that benefits

I remember all these feelings. I was in kelowna last year when the fires happened i lived litterally a 5 minute drive away. The craziest part was watching it come over the mountains in west kelowna from my backyard and like 30 minutes later, seeing it jump the lake to the east side where i live (kelowna is a reletivly small city in the center of a valley. With a long and wide lake that separates west and east kelowna.) We had to buy air puifiers for our home and car to survive. We felt town even though we werent evauated, but the smoke was so bad and we had a 1 month old baby.
The sad part is after 24 hours you can't tell how much smoke is in the air by smell until you leave and notice how toxic your environment was.

The warning signs were there for a while, not for just 1,2, or 29 houses but thousands all at the same time and the state did nothing to prepare, so this event was inevitable. This would literally put them out of business and everyone in the nation would be uninsured. The damage from this is worth more than statefarm’s entire networth

We got evacuated but we were a block away from where the fire contained so didn't lose home. But so many people I know lost their homes like my bro's fiancé, my little nephew's friend etc. Its scary times. Rn just have to worry about the ash, smoke in air and also hoping nothing randomly catches fire again. It's also kinda crazy how many people abandoned their dog and cats and left them at home

It's sad but the reality is when you are in an evacuation zone you should do as you're told. He said a lot of people are infirmed and may not be able to evacuate themselves as easily, so people should help them get out. He also said that if you are going to abandon your vehicles to leave the keys in them because though he made sure his family was evacuated, he stayed behind to help people and to move the abandon vehicles out of the way so the firefighters and first responders could get through.

I doubt the insurance situation is completely the fault of government. What good is insurance if nobody can afford it? The reality is that California and many other places (like deserts and coastal areas) are becoming too risky to insure (in large part due to climate change, but there are other factors as well). The only way to counter that is to increase premiums significantly which then would also be a problem since people can't afford it. So it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't type situation no matter what (government intervention or not). Aren't insurers leaving places like Florida too? And I doubt they have as much government price control. It's just the reality that it's not financial sustainable. The real solution is that we probably just shouldn't be living in these areas, or at least not be building these large, concentrated population zones in those areas.

Even if the fire wasn’t intentional, investment companies like BlackRock and Vanguard are probably foaming at the mouth right now. Once the land that’s burnt gets bought up, it’ll drive up the prices in the surrounding areas and unless you’re earning 1M+ per year after tax, you’ll be pushed out completely.

Saw something that the reason the fire spread so fast is also because of all the eucalyptus trees because once they mature the produce some sort of liquid or sap that’s very flammable

Yeah, it’s their oils, these tress produce a lot of oils AND shed their “dead” dry leaves (but kind mixed with bark) which is basically great fire starters and if the cities don’t keep these dread leaves in check on a routine basis it’s bad. Got plenty over here in the bay as well, esp in the wildlife parks forests

If that was the case which I highly doubt it why would you plant it there? Did they say it started in 3 different areas...at the same time.

problem w Karen Bass zoning out speechless to the reporter is if she already had the answers she should've said "I'll address these questions at the conference" she doesn't know anything until her party hands her a paper script to read off of smh

I drove my son down to UCSB from SF Bay Area along 101 and after half way point you can see dry hillsides that most of the rain never made down that part of CA. Most of these fires seem to started when high wind is forecasted on the news. Too much of a coincidence.

I'd like to hear how the citizens of Maui for example feel when they get fucked by the government with financial and resource aid. Yet we get 100% of what we're looking for after the fact (even though it was an issue prior).
Is it the administration knowing they fucked up and trying to save face, just bc it's LA, Olympics and other events are to be hosted there, or bc there are more elites affected by it.

My heart and prayers go out to all the people in California who lost their homes and businesses. That being said, Ryan looks like and in dressed like he does slam poetry on the weekends. He sees you in the audience and invites you to his beach house to make sweet sweet love to you. In the morning when you wake up in his bed you see him naked in front of an art canvas because he's been painting you all night in water colors because you inspired him to paint. He proceeds to greet you with "Good morning my MUSE". I'm just saying...

They knew people were concerned, that is why they did the video now, yet they had to make sure it was safe enough to make the trip to the studio to film. As Steve mentioned, the plane he was on had to go a different route to avoid the smoke.
