You're really ONLY getting the US mortar for smoke, and it's damn good against early MG spam. Just put it on "hold fire," and order a smoke barrage every time you see an MG. Makes a great counter and helps to keep units on the front line, especially in the early game. Plus, since it's not automatic firing, it doesn't show up until you use the smoke barrage, meaning no fear of constant counter barrage by enemy mortars. When you're ready for a true, indirect fire, just get a pack howitzer. Great vid. Thanks for posting!
Which US mortar? You mean the smoke tube? I believe they are D and F tier. I do make them but just because you sometimes need them I feel that after 5 min or 7 of a 4v4 match they lose any impact in the game. I will also raise more the land mattress, it is very cheap, mobile and negates a very large area for a good time.
sexton>priest since valentine can order them to fire across the map and they both come paired in royal artillery doctrine. For the price of 2, you get power of 4 sextons. On the other hand you really punish yourself on fuel.
I disagree with the ML20 but i am pretty biased. I love that thing. Ive killed several tanks with it, I had one match where a single ML 20 had 3 tank kills, 5 squad wipes, and 4 team weapon kills in a 2v2. Its damage combined with the amount it shoots is incredible. Having 40 more damage and like 1 higher lethal radius than the LeFH makes it hit so hard
Some extra info: The German/Soviet standard mortars have 80 range, the US/British lend lease one which has 75. The German one is the most accurate however, and the soviet one the least accurate. The 120 mm has 80 autofire range, and 100 barrage range, the same goes for the leIG. The pack howi has 120 barrage range.
I think that's the weird interactions with mortar accuracy because usually the mortar misses the first shot on a static target meaning a moving one is more likely to be hit. The wermacht mortar just affects the largest area per shell. Mathematically the Brit M1 mortar is the most accurate ( at least I think)
@@randomlygeneratednameWell they actually both has 245 in the coh2 info page but I still remember that most of the time I place my ML20 in the back like in front of my base while I mostly need to put the Lefh nearer to the front
A few notes based on my experience: Something worth mentioning about the B4. Its phenomenal against static positions. Including Oberwest bases. The B4 is the bane of frontline bases in 3v3 / 4v4. people who put their trucks near each other in a game with B4, regret it. And unlike the katyusha, you dont need to be in danger range. The german mortar halftrack is superior. Its more reliable accuracy wise, and its smaller and more mobile. Way better for hit and runs. The Mattress fills a long range gap the brits sorely miss otherwise. Just like the priest does for Americans. If its only on the frontline when its cooldown is done, its devastating. Most brit players in 3v3/4v4 use the mattress commander. Has to count for something. The werfer is GREAT for counter-firering on katyusha. Two rockets direct hit it and its dead. Its one of the best artillery pieces for counter fire on other mobile artillery units. I would honestly put it higher.
Mortar Pit in B tier? Hell no. That thing is C tier, at best. Every time and I mean EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I build one of these, it gets flame mortared, without fail. As soon as the flame drops, I have to do the following things: 1.Brace it, otherwise it dies within seconds. 2.IMMEDIATELY charge the German positions to try and kill the mortar half track, which I can only do if I also have an AT gun or an AEC, otherwise that thing is not dying and it will just scoot away. I literally have seconds to do this, because as soon as the brace wears off, if the mortar truck isn't shut down, it will kill the pit. Problem is that I have 350 manpower sitting behind doing absolutely nothing. Even worse, this is the only unit I have for indirect fire (that is non-doctrinal) and it's also the unit I was likely relying on for smoke to get up to the MGs. This means I also need to: 3. Have an assault officer who can drop the smoke and pay the munis for it (because regular section flares suck) 4. Have some kind of assault infantry in the early-mid game to actually push the Germans off with a close range assault. This is also a problem, because early game sections also suck and they are not good at close range charges AND it's even worse, because I have 350 manpower locked up in the Mortar Pit. So by building a mortar pit, I invite a hard-counter that I myself will have a much harder time countering. Do I sometimes manage to get value out of it? rarely, but yes. Do I sometimes manage to save it from the flame mortar? On occasion, but I usually take a commander who helps me with early assaults. As you said when talking about the Soviet light AT gun, if a unit is good 30% of the time, it's not good. I would swap the British mortar with the British mortar pit. Mortar pit is low C to D tier because of how effortlessly the Germans can counter it.
4v4, rated by how often a unit is needed. Artillery built on map, D tir, because it's nothing more than a idiot test, it is destroyed after the first volley or you win. All mortars S tir, smoke is fucking awesome at all stages of the game. Katyusha, walking stuka, Panzerwerfer all S level. The Panzerwerfer may be worse, but that's all the Wehrmacht has. Priest and Coliope, S tir. Because that's all the US has to dislodge the entrenched enemy. The M8 is very vulnerable for its price to Elephants, Jagdtigers and Panther raids. Requires a lot of micro which will not be available elsewhere. B tir. British don't need doctrinal artillery to dislodge entrenched enemy, they have a mortar position (S tir) and powerful tanks for that. Sextine and Land Mattress are situationally useful C tir. Mortar trucks situationaly useful against Sim City. But good at this task B tir, both. Don't make me grind top 1 rank 4v4 again to get credibility.
Sexton and Priest are disgusting and should be restricted to a maximum number of two per player. Being able to move with something which works like a static arty and can bomb your HQ is utterly unfair
Panzerwerfers and Stukas are disgusting and should be restricted to a maximum number of 1 per player. Being able to move with something, that can precisely hit targets and then run back is utterly unfair.
I like how you're not talking about calliope and katyusha which both are alot better than stuka and werfer. Sexton and priest are a different type of arty. U cant compare them to stuka and werfer. They have sustained damage , hard to use against infantry but best against static stuff like retreat points and okw trucks. They have more range too. It would be better if u compare them to Lefh and ml20...
my god, I was today years old when I learned that you two are, in fact, different people
you look so simmilar 🎑🎑

The rest of the tier was very good. You did analyze all pros and cons of each unit objectively 👍
Where is my ZiS-3 or SU-76??? 👁👄👁
We didn't include them since it's a special ability.

Nah the lethal radius is the same as the leFH, the only difference is against vehicles on a direct hit

the soviet mortar still has more accuracy than the american or british mortar tho
Maybe consider Accessibility of unit as well, because a good unit can be in a bad doctrine
It doesn't make unit worse, it makes doctrine better or worse depending on what units it has.
sexton should be a tier, worse than the priest on stats, but the commander has so many buffs for it
never before have i seen two people whose voices better fit each other.
Also what about tanks with the barrage ability?
We didn't include them since it's a special ability.
One time i had a american mortar shoot one single shot and completely wipe a full health sturmpio squad, my jaw hit the fucking floor.
Where is the 25 pounder ?
Can you bring up the volumn a little bit? I switch to 100% but still can barely hear you talking
Will do next time
Why didn’t he add brumbar if he put in the m8?
Idk but It feels like german mortar and arty has some kind of aim bot. Even it doesn't have vision it shreds my moving troops.

nah it come about so early
It’s literally statistically the exact same as the ostheer mortar

ML20 to top C because it has the greatest range of any arty
