it's amazing how this song evolved. Thom writes it during the Amnesiac/Kid A days, they perform it on the Amnesiac tour, they leave it be during "Hail to the Thief", Thom performs it in 2005 and says that the song is "dead and buried" as far as the rest of the band is concerned. They try recording it in 2006, then Thom and Jonny write an outro for it, the outro sounds so good they re-record the song with a new mood, and end up with the one on In Rainbows. Amazing. Songs take time.
Sooooo . . . apparently the only thing that stayed the same was the word "reckoner."
@Sweepstakes78 This version of Reckoner was played at Washington in 2001. Many fans waited so long for this version on an album, but it didnt came. A "new" Reckoner was released, and the old one went to limbo (Atoms for Peace played it without the old chorus).
I love that Radiohead are always evolving, but sometimes I miss the days when they wrote full on freakish experimental rock songs.
This will always be the true Reckoner to me! Love the new one as well though.
yeah I know, I hope they still have this version for a future album with a different name or something, with Radiohead you never know!!!

@Sweepstakes78 This is not a fake, I posted this song, way before it got named "Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses". Before In Rainbows was released, it was called "Reckoner". Reason why you hear Thom singing "Reckoner, Reckoner".
Not fake but mislabed then. Should be "Reckoner (earlier song of that name)"
i actually might like this version more than the album version, though definitely different. They are both good and the album version has some lyrics that can't be missed but this song is fun in a lot of unexpected ways.
The new Reckoner was based on a coda they wrote for the old Reckoner. Eventually they decided to keep only that coda and work from there on.
They really fucked this up on In Rainbows. Gone is the noble smell of manure
12 years later and this song doesnt appear :(

It would have been cool if they put this after Bodysnatchers it would fit really well. But yet again Bangers N Mash would also be a great fit there as well.

@crixox hey shut your mouth if you don't have informed statements. It isn't the same song, they just used the name. They released this as 'Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses' in 2009. I am sorry if you were talking about that one, but I doubt it.
