- In which Jon and Steve head back to the Chattahoochee River to attempt fly fishing for trout from float tubes. This is a section of river they have never seen before so check out the video and see if they are able to catch any brown or rainbow trout.
That fish at 4:00 was gorgeous. Never seen that coloring before.
Just found tour channel today. Watched a bunch of videos. Great stuff. Keep’em coming.
Welcome aboard!
Well that was crazy as heck you asked John if he was ready to leave and he said yeah and you both walked off together!!?? without 15 more casts!!?? Was he not feeling well haha! Thanks for another fun video guys!
Sometimes I surprise myself. It’s easier to leave when I should when I have actually caught some fish. Thanks for watching.
Keep making those awesome videos. I normally float from Buford dam to hwy 20, but 20 to settles can be fruitful as well. See you guys on the water
We fished settles once but it was on Father’s Day and the river was slammed. I would like to float it sometime when the crowds have slowed down. Thanks for watching.
Some very arty camerawork...and some typically ok fishing. I can dig it.
It digs you right back...
Definitely thought when John said he was ready to go you were going to show him making a few more casts.
...youuu always keep us guessing!
Oh don’t worry. It happened. We just didn’t document it this time...
Oh man, you guys never fail to entertain. I had a smile on my face for pretty much the whole video. My good fly fishing buddy is in California and cannot make his yearly trip up here to fly fish this year. I totally enjoy watching your antics on the water because it reminds me so much of our antics on the water when we get together. Hopefully next year for us!
Hey man, here’s to hoping for a fishing reunion between you and your buddy SOON!
another great video... you guys are hilarious. cool music choice
Glad you enjoyed it
I have been using nymphs, small black ants, and spiders for bass fishing in small lakes. I live in Georgia west of Atlanta. I am more successful at sunset but I still catch some during the hot part of the day. Loved the video. Wish I could get away north of here to trout fish!
That’s the best part of the Chattahoochee below Buford dam. It stays pretty cool all year so the fish aren’t too affected by heat. Thanks for watching.
Absolutely love you guys
Absolutely love you back...
Another great video guys, love seeing you laugh and joke around through the typical mishaps. Reminds me of good times with my fishing buddies. Did John get new waders?
Thanks for watching. I have had those waders for a while. We only talk about Steve’s new stuff I guess.

Bait caster and hand lining? Where are the purist police? Love your vids. They always make me smile. Keep them coming
I know. I find myself looking over my shoulder to make sure no one is coming for me on the river. Thanks for coming along with us.
Always glad to see another GBFF video come up
And we are glad to hear your part of the GB family.
I love to watch you guys! Awesome video! Keep ‘em coming!
More to come! Thanks for watching.
The best section to fish is the one your in!!!
We will definitely do that again. We really enjoyed that stretch.
I just found your channel. Great video. I have waded and fished several of the parks on the Hooch north of ATL. What section of water is this? Thanks!
Above Hwy 20. Thanks for watching.
Haha, J it’s all good my friend. But I would love to see you try to throw a plastic worm on a sinking line... 😂. Huge props on hand lining that fish.
I couldn’t believe I actually landed that fish and that the camera was recording.
Still liking the hats! Good video, keep it up!
Glad you like them!
Jon! You aren't just cheating on Steve. You are cheating on all of us, and most importantly the sport of fly fishing with that baitcaster. Interesting float idea. Dig the intro and music and such. Is it possible to hook the float and pop it lol. Great sequence about catching a fish while all tangled up. You guys are a beautiful mess. Must see RUclips TV. Keep it up guys :)
The first step to fixing a problem is admitting you have one. Just thought it would be better to get it out in the open for everyone to see. LOL. Thanks for coming along with us. I promise you that Fly-Fishing is my first love and nothing will change that.
Jon, how the hell did you catch that fish...lucky guy! LOL. I wish you would tell us what fly you guys are using so I can learn. I'm still trying to learn, might jump in the Toccoa river this weekend. thanks
Hey Denelle, we definitely need to do better with that and I truly did not deserve to land that fish. I have been catching a large majority of my fish on a red copper John. Good luck learning, stick with it and maybe we’ll see you out there soon.
We are closing on a house in that neighborhood by the Trout Hatchery in October. Can’t wait to sell my boat and start floating this section of the river. Never catch bass in Lanier anyways 😂
Y’all got the good part of the hooch in Columbus ga it’s trash.
you said it all- at 3:38
Not many things can compete with that. Thanks for watching.
I got a used tube over the summer specifically to fish that stretch from Bowmans down the 20 (it’s actually the one John has!). Haven’t taken it out yet unfortunately...actually watching this for tips 😂
It was a great easy float. It will be pretty murky due to the lake turning over for a little while longer but let us know how it goes when you get out there.
I am sure you know this; but there are fins available that fit with your wading boots. It would help you control the tube. Just a thought.
Yeah, but neither of us have them and this trip was kind of last minute...
Clicked on this video so fast
And we love you for that...
What are those braces you’ve got around the handle of the fly rod?
It’s actually the handle. It’s Arctic Silver Zense rod.
Steve! Be nice to John! 😂
He loves me.
You should try Abbotts to Medlock.
That’s may be our next video. I fished it a few weeks ago and it was really good.
How is that Cross-Current chest pack holding up? I'm in between that and the Umpqua Overlook 500 zs2 but there aren't many shops near me to compare the two.
I think Steve is really liking the cross-current. I love my umpqua as well. One think that bothers me about it though is that it doesn't always fit tight against my chest and leans forward. I've been close to dropping some fly boxes when I forget to zip it back up but thankfully that hasn't happened yet....Knock on wood.
What section was that? Did I miss it? Great videos. If you want a guest I gots lots of time on my hands😆
Ha, that’d be fun. We got in at the bottom of Bowman’s Island and out at the 20 bridge.
How do you get in places where there arent tons of people?
We usually fish during the week. It’s tough to make that happen though. Weekends are usually to crazy.
Best fishing is Hooch in Franklin Ga
What part of the river did you float?
Bottom of Bowman’s Island to Hwy 20 bridge...
@@GoodBuddyFlyFishing I thought that looked like drowning rock area. Fun on a yak
My brother , one of my buddys floated from jones bridge to Holcomb Bridge right after the bridge and we caught anywhere for 70-80 that day no lie ; and hat was the best day of fishing in my life bt we used spinning gear and gulp garlic rubber eggs. I’ve tried a lot of different colors and scents bt the best one was all white or my number one go to is half white on one side and clear on the other with blue glitter on the inside, the white and clear either the gold flakes did not produce no where near the ones with the blue flakes
Not a bad day.
Hey guys, love your channel. Where did you put in?
Bottom of Bowman’s Island
Good Buddy Fly Fishing Awesome thanks!
u should post more
We’d do it if we could, but we’re cramming to get one out every two weeks... but we’ll hope along with you that we can get it to weekly...
Do you still do those lil things of you lookin at comments? If so plz put this one in! Hey Jon hey dad Jon dad will ALWAYS win against you!
You guys remind me so much of my fishing partner and me, except for the fact he's an idiot.
I sometimes think Steve is an idiot but there aren’t many things better than fishing with a good buddy. Thanks for watching.
