But it being a plog makes it unique enough for Eugene to join.

Eugene floating in and out (of both frame and character) is a wonderfully plog-specific feature that fits so naturally.

Rainie is Dorothy. Sorry, but she's the younger, newcomer. Keith is the scarecrow. He downplays his intelligence. Miles is Tin Man, he does not express his depth of emotion, but clearly has it. And Zach is the The Lion, wants to be liked and admired, is braver than he admits to.
Eugene is Glinda. This is all such perfect casting!

Valid but I feel after he who must not be named left Zach has really begun to show how smart he is behind he scenes and take the scarecrow role while Keith, the performer, inside and out could be the lion 🦁

I think you're confused. They said Eugene wasn't on because he had too many lines to remember. Those people were all different Try employees. They are usually not on camera so I get the confusion.

As someone who worked for a Shakespeare company for 10 years, it’s so exciting for y’all to not only be doing this but also actually doing the proper work for it and showcasing the legitimate types of training you need as a classical performer. Not only do you need to be a trained actor but also trained in the text as well. This is so cool

The description of ensemble actors having that one bit is so true. I remember the high that I had when I was ensemble in Cinderella and I decided my character was going to be visibly excited and overwhelmed when getting to dance with the prince for 5 seconds. It got a laugh every show and it made the rest of my year.

On this topic, in middle school they did a pirate musical (forget what it was called) but they let us add in lines if we wanted (like we spent 2 days brainstorming and placing them throughout the script). The only one I came up with and my only spoken line "can I touch your sword?" 😂

It’s nice to see Eugene participating with the company. He’s so private about his life that we barely get to see him. 😢
My star moment as an ensemble member in the musical my freshman year was during Coffee Break in How to Succeed, we needed someone to do a horror movie-style scream during the bridge, so I screamed as loud as I could (I was really shy so most people had barely heard me talk) but it was really good so they picked me. For the preview, I was standing on the edge of the stage in front of where all the juniors sit for school assemblies, and I saw boys who laughed at me in the hallways jump in their seats. I did not have a single line, but I had a very memorable moment.

I was a stenographer in Millie in high school too, Raine!!! We had to learn how to tap dance in heels all summer before rehearsals started and I had ingrown toenails for years afterward!

Yes, the Phantom Tollbooth. I wasn't a theater kid, but in school for one of my classes we had to do that in 6th grade, and it was probably one of the few actual plays I did.
Wouldn’t Romeo and Juliet technically be speaking in Italian accents bc the play takes place in Verona
Rainie is me😂 because as soon as the boys said the Lord of the Rings cards I was like “oh Post Malone has it because I learned on Call Her Daddy” and I was excited that maybe that’s how they knew😂 I’m glad Rainie also had that reference
i just got done playing widow corney in a community theatre production of oliver (i’m a 27 y/o woman so if you know the show you know that’s actually kind of funny) and miles singing “boy for sale” made me laugh for like five minutes, so thank you for that

Can the next pod be about how the production went? It can be real inside baseball. What was the engagement like, what are the lessons learned, will there be another production similar to this?
While it may sound really goofy, but this was the podcast episode that inspired me to do theatre. I was thinking about it for a while, since sophomore year two years ago, but I never did until this year. It was only after listening to this episode for the 7th time did I decide that I should do theatre--besides my school was doing my favorite Shakespeare play. I had never done an extracurricular that required commitment, so when it came to it I struggled at first with staying after school everyday. To add onto that I was alone for the majority of the time because people already knew each other. Even so, I did get to meet some amazing people (though I am still a bit intimidated by them). I'm glad to have had the experience. Also, my school is doing Oliver as well, so when they announced it for the Spring musical I immediately thought of Miles singing "Boy for Sale".
school theater is TERRIFYING. tbh if you’re able, i’d recommend finding a local community theater and trying to do something there! school theater has always intimidated me, but i’ve found some really great friends at the community theater program i do

Regarding what Rainie said about LOTR: if i remember correctly, LOTR was originally published (or written?) in 7 parts/novels but later on the publisher decided to put them together in 3 volumes instead so now most people just know LOTR as a trilogy. I'm only aware o this because I was gifted the full 7-parts boxset of LOTR books for Christmas around the time Peter Jackson's FOTR movie first came out. (And yes, my excited nerdy self managed to read 85% of the whole series within a few days right before I went to see FOTR in theatre.)

Keith said there was 11 with such confidence that I’m second guessing myself. Also I thought there was only 3 rings given to the elves, I thought the seven was the dwarves… I feel like I’m going crazy 😭
