Thanks for the love guys! It sounds like you got that motor tuned up good! Looking forward to seeing you sail her!

We have winterized up here in Iowa so thanks for sending sun and warmth our way and good luck. Your methodicle way will serve you well and you will be sailing soon. We appreciate your videos!

Thanks! I was wondering if people in colder climates might appreciate seeing some warmth. We're just getting started as during the previous few months it's just been too hot to go three knots... so not that's it's going to start cooling of (to 80) we can start the actual sailing and trying some overnights.

Mine came with a 1970s Sears Ted Williams 2 stroke 7 HP. Got it cleaned and running pretty quickly.

Great vid! The wife and I picked up an 81 Catalina 22 a couple months ago. It came with a 93 Yachtwin 8hp that looks just like your 6. I got my ASA 101 cert. in Annapolis MD a few weeks ago and we’ve had her out sailing once. Now it’s getting too cold here in WV, where the sailing community consists of.....us, as far as we can tell. Lol. Best wishes to you guys AND Apple and Rob who I also watch! We will hopefully be moving south in the next year or so.

We're just getting done with our "too hot to sail" summer, so we hope to use the sailboat all winter when there's better wind and cooler days. Any place with good barrier islands is good for small sailboats. Congrats on your ASA cert! Good luck and keep in touch!

Nice simple stand design. Imitating it for my 8hp Honda!

Thanks, make sure there's enough room for your barrel of water between the vertical supports... mine was a little tight and I have to bend the plastic Walmart trash can in there. Also my wheels on the bottom were cheap and fell out all the time... it's one of those things that would be nice to keep if you can but I tossed mine after I used it the second time due to limited storage space. Sometimes I see people selling them on craigslist.

Hah, I was going to give you grief for all the growth on your bottom, but you got it... good on ya. Remember to keep a log of outboard use, change oil every 100 hours, and with every oil change always remove the sacrificial anode and give it a good wire brushing to keep the surface fresh... that simple maintenance regimen will extend your engine life to... pretty much forever.

Great Video, do you have one for the bracket installation? I’m looking to replace my inboard to outboard

    Hey there!
Just saw your video and I'm wondering, how heavy is your Catalina 22, and if the 6hp motor is enough. I have a 23 feet sailboat and I'm looking for a new motor in between 6hp or 8 hp...the previous owner had a 15 installed but is just too expensive for me.
Best regards, and good luck with the channel!

A 6hp is the recommended motor for that boat, I think. It's fine with that. There's quite a bit of info on that question but 6hp seems to be the right answer. It's nothing crazy but will be good for five knots and general movement.
