I still get horrified when I see one, I was playing this at 2 in the morning once and was exploring the aurora wreck. I heard the roar from far away and that alone sent chills down my spine I came back out and it was night in the game as well. I tried to get into my cyclops and realized it was unpowered. I got out of and 6 seconds later (keep in mid it was pitch black) a reaper comes out of nowhere and jumpscares me. It scared the shut out of me and gave me nightmares and I’ve encountered reapers multiple times before that.
I feel like the character in below zero puts up more of a fight then the one in the base game. Atleast she actually kicks and beats on the creatures, the original dude just fails to hold their claws and teeth away from him Edit: please read the wacky replies before saying anything.

Probably not, but I mean, the protagonist never really tried it so 🤷 Plus one person evidently managed to make one swim away from their base with a sea glider and a piece of metal. I don’t think she survived but I mean, she did manage to make it go away, with her attacking it. So it’s clearly not _impossible_ to accomplish
The shadow leviathans are scariest because of just how sensitive they are - think twice to 3 times the radius of the reapers is when they charge you and thats outside of any vehichles
I like how the devs of subnautica added the sound of the glass cracking and the (presumably) plasteel hull bending and buckling in the seadragon animation
A really cool Prawn animation would be a sort of “counter” where if you push attack at just the right second, it has an animation where the suit grabs the pincers of the reaper and rips them out.

its so unsettling how the sea dragon literally licks your prawn when it grabs you, today a sea dragon also decided to give me the silent treatment and not roar once. i got off of my cyclops cams and he's right infront of me staring into my soul. he then proceeded to slap my cyclops and i had to drive full speed away from him.
I was watching this so I would be more prepared when this happens to me. Boy, it didn’t help. This is something you must experience. This game is a gem.
People are saying that the protagonist in below zero animations are better because of the kicking. Remember that Riley was justa guy in the aurora when it crashed, but the below zero lady(I forgot her name) was probably trained for the creatures and she knew what she was going into.

Being Honest here, sure Below Zero did make the attacks more better by having the MC fight back a bit but there’s a lot less animations as in Subnautica
Our character must have iron balls to go explore on a alien planet where you can't contact humans and there's giant ass monsters and not being able to see when your swimming
When your swimming on top of the water in OG Subnautica a Reaper can ambush you and jump out of the water and stab you in the stomach, its a cool animation
If the Reaper picks up your Prawn Suit while you’re busy mining resources, just treat him like you would any mineral deposits. Nothing scares a Reaper quite like a Mad Dentist.
3:02 the prawn suit is the most powerful thing alive if it can survive a literal 100 meter dragon bite with a mouth that opens like 3 meters it can survive anything
From 1:13 part of the video: In the bugged grownd we go! That happend because the seamoth has no hitbox when its in the reapers mandibles.The reaper wanted to go deeper with the seamoth but he couldn'n becouse he has a hitbox and there was ground there.
man imagine the orignal leviathans getting a boost in their animations on the level of below zero. the reaper would be a lot more heavy handed with its mandibles so it feels like it's actually crushing you and the player is frantically doing controls to try and escape or the prawn suit starts kicking at the sea dragon to try and convince it to let you go. that'd be awesome.
I kinda think it’d be cool for the Sea Dragon, aside from its obscure biting thing, to see it grab the Prawn, hold it IN FRONT of its mouth, and breath fireballs (molten material it ate according to the PDA) into it before throwing it away, instead of just batting it away. It’d definitely make it seem a lot more ruthless. After all, YOU came to IT’S home. The thing CANONICALLY KIDNAPS AND EATS REAPERS ALIVE, but can fall relatively easily to a tiny metal mech with a drill.
The reaper leviathan scares me alot just because of how loud it is, i don’t know why but any living creature that can scream really loud just terrifies me..

Until a few days ago when I was lodged into its mouth
He also used to have an animation for the seamoth
Sadly it got removed
Miles Prower Makes sense though, the seamoth isn’t capable of going all the way down there sadly, even with better depth added.
