Man, just the entire sequence from 3:04 - 3:38 struck me so hard (maybe cuz im watching this at 2am but still). I think Xiao has always felt like he needs to be useful, he needs to DO something in order to feel like he's worth anything in life. He's always done the one thing he's been surrounded by for centuries---he fights and fights and he suppresses whatever pain or sadness or love he feels inside.
