I've lived in Haywood county all my life....Clyde, Bethel, Canton, and now Waynesville. It's a great place to live, but on behalf of my fellow Haywood natives PLEASE buy something already built and don't level anymore of our beautiful mountaintops to get a good view. Thank you and if you do choose our town...welcome to Waynesville 🙂
👍 here in macon county, they voting on letting people build in flood planes. Farmers are like, our fields are fertile because of the floods bringing fertile food dirt to our fields. Now you gonna haul in crap dirt and it’s gonna get on our fields along with whatever else you put up stream?!?!? 🤦♀️ yeah, I’m seeing more slides happen too . Cutting tops of mountains off. What do they thing will happen?
This is the new Florida, im afraid. They ruined it down there, gonna come up here. Guess whose insurance will go up when those houses get flooded and mudslides happen? Yours and mine! Just like hurricanes down there . Sone places are not meant to be inhabited people!
Yes, that makes sense.
1. Retirement vibe slower pace
2. No night Life, quiet after 9pm
3. Small town old town atmosphere
4. Traditional conservative values southern style country living
5. Limited foodie choices and no big box stores
Right on!
Waynesville sounds perfect😍 The Main Street area looks so nice and we love that everything basically closes up by 9pm.
I kind of dig that too as I’m an early to bed early to rise kinda gal.
Hi, Beth! I'm not looking for a place to live (I already live in western NC!) but I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your videos - you are so funny and entertaining, and I always learn new things about western NC that I didn't know! Thank you!
Wow, thank you! Every time we make a video I’m always also learning a few things. I didn’t know about Western North Carolina. Thanks so much for staying tuned.
Thanks for the video- I live in Waynesville! We actually have a few places that stay open late- the Scotsman , a fantastic bar downtown that often has live music, is open until 12am. Boojum, a downtown brewery, is also open until 12am. Sauced, which you walked into, is open until 11:30pm. Frog Level Brewing is open beyond 9pm, and also has live music. We don't totally shut down at 9pm, and not everyone here is retired. But, you are right, not the same level of options as Asheville, since we are so much smaller. Also, that cemetery you went is such a gorgeous place- very historic too. William Holland Thomas, the first white chief of the Cherokee is buried there, as well as William Robert Greer, the secret service driver for 5 presidents including driving JFK when he was assassinated. Waynesville claims to be the location of the last shot of the Civil War. It's a very historic town!
Wow! So interesting! Thank you so much for commenting. I didn’t know these things and it’s intriguing.
I've lived in Waynesville for 17 years love, love it!!!!
Wow! That’s quite a while! Has it changed since?
With lakes and mountains, I really don't need much after 9pm 🙂 You guys are such fun, I hope that translates to lot's of sales !
Awhh, thank you for this comment!
Congrats, Beth on your growing channel --- I was one of your first subscribers, and look at you now and all the comments. Also kudos to Justin for his stellar camera work with his wife in motion.
Thank you so much! I remember you! Keep watching😀
Thanks so much! I greatly appreciate it! We have fun which makes it easy :)
Truly the better choice than in the city. Waynesville & Weaverville are my favorite towns.
I love the Weav! Both are nice though.
@@livinginasheville I love your personality! If people want to know what the people in the area are like ... I hope they pay attention to your vibe. :)
Lived in Waynesville for a few years, and moved to Asheville due to preference. Very slow town, but quaint. Still close enough to Asheville to get odds and ends that aren’t locally available. A bit conservative for my liking but ultimately enjoyed it.
Awhhh! That is so super sweet of you. Thank you so much for leaving a comment. We have such a fun time making those videos and I’m glad that you appreciate it.
So weird, I’m sitting here watching this video and she starts talking to the guy from Harris County, GA and that’s where I live🤣
It’s a sign!!!
Glad the Canton paper mill is closed, more asheville folks coming out to waynesville. Remember Maggie valley is really part of waynesville. Lots of bikers if you enjoy that. Also the elk things are there to see.
They sure are!
My wife and I have settled on waynesville to retire. To many years of fast pace living. The video is outstanding making our decision much easier. “I’ll take slow pace living for $200 please”
Cheers, me too. Whew..
I've lived in Waynesville for 6 years, and absolutely love it! You are right, everything does close a bit early and there isn't as much to do "on the town" as Asheville has to offer, but what it lacks in entertainment it more than makes up for in peacefulness and nature! I like your videos, if you are single hit me up and I'll show you around ;-)
Thank you! Not single but keep on keeping on!
I'm enjoying your videos. This one had me laughing so hard. Check out the action in the background starting at the 6:23 mark.
Oh my! I didn’t catch that earlier
I just left Lake Junaluska, Waynesville, Franklin, NC. I didn’t like driving those steep, curvy, dangerous mountains. Driving in the mountains of these places are very dangerous!
Ahhhh, you get used to it once you’ve done it a couple times. Just no texting and driving on those roads for sure!
We'll be visiting on our way back from The Smokies ! Wonderful informative video! TY 😊....beautiful home! Love everything about it.
Very unique and will outlast anything built 😊 today!
Welcome! Yes. It sure is! 😊
Ha ha! At 6:28 "Hey dude your zipper is down." "Oh thanks..." 🙂
So funny! Oh my!
Beth, is there in or around Asheville 55+ communities? Any that you might recommend? Thanks I always enjoy watching you, you're so funny! Bless your heart like the lady said!
Awhhh! Thank you so much! Let’s set up a time to chat. There are many to chose from.

Funny how Kilwins is there as their HQ are in Petoskey MI 25 mI to my NNE.
Ah! Cool!
Sun Birds if you come from Florida
Oh yes! Sunbirds!
I live in Waynesville, and Haywood county all my life. Great small town
Such beauty there. You’re lucky to have been there that long.
1905 to 1910 4 claw Cast Iron Bathtube Beth!
So beautiful!
It’s “Heavens to Betsy” and “slap your granny!”.
Heck yes! 🙌
Minnestans are some of the friendliest folks I've ever met and super social..
People out there are generally really friendly. Here too.
I’m gonna give you a call when I am ready to move. Grew up in Travelers Rest and Easley, SC, so know the area well. Living in Roswell, GA right now. Plan to retire here soon near or on a lake in western NC.
Well, there ya go! We’d be happy to help you when you are ready.
I love living in Waynesville area!!! The only down side is prices are higher here. I would not live anywhere else!!! You just keep on discouraging people from moving here because we don’t need any more people!! PS I go to bed at midnight every night!!
Late night rocker! 😊
I like Weaverville, NC. I live in Greeneville TN and i like riding my bike over there, get on the blue ridge parkway, and ride. Nice little town. Ive thought of moving there.
I’ve not seen much more beautiful than the blue ridge parkway. People come
From all over to ride on it!
@@livinginasheville that's the only part of the parkway I've ridden. Weaverville to and past mount Mitchell. Great ride. Safer than the dragon.
You can go to Boojum’s Gem and The Water’n Hole after 9pm 😊
I heard that! So there are things open after 9! Cool.
Beth, I love your shows! What is the price range you would want to help to move to Western NC?
Home price!?! Well, it would depend on where you’d want to live the average home price in Asheville right now is about 650,000.
If you want unique restaurants not so much..
There are more popping up.
There's 5 real estate store fronts downtown..
Whoa- that’s a lot.
Beth, your camera man knows his okra and cheese!
He sure does! Southern man!
I grew up in Charleston, SC. We love our comfort foods! :)

Asheville is not for everyone! Nice to visit but not to live
I am in love with living in Asheville but yes, I can see how it may not not be for everyone.
Just fell in love with you , dang !!!
Well! That was fast!
The house and trim look like it was built between 1895 to 1910!
Good eye!
I think it goes for $600k…
Very disappointed in your video. You sound more like you are promoting Asheville than saying anything positive about Waynesville. If I had the patience I would watch your video again just to count the number of times you mention Asheville.
I hear you. The video is about surrounding towns outside of Asheville that could be other options for people when they think about moving to Asheville. The channel name is Living in Asheville.

Eeek!
If You can't handle living with the Appalachian hillbillies then stay away
I mean, we are in the blue ridge mountains!
