Almost moved there in 02. Glad I didnt. Still settled in the Blue Ridge back in 02. The reason I settled was definitely not to be around trndy LA, SoCal people. Or beot"*s like this.

RUclips channels exposed a lot of nice little towns and told everyone to come. I watched the channels myself years ago. Half of San Francisco started heading there due to the mayor and her political beliefs..... For that reason, many North Carolina natives no longer visit the place. Lots of people hanging out on the trails smoking weed and getting high at the waterfalls. They won't move, some of them will just hang out there all day and block people from taking family photos... That's what happened to us when we were there last time.

Don't forget the car inspections and the engine light on fiasco. Groceries are a lot more expensive than say TN. NC also requires the state tax deduction from your pay. Parking in downtown is around 5 bucks for 2 hours. But worth it if you have a job that makes enough money. ASHEVILLE IS THE BOMB. Recovery is making progress...keeping those prayers rolling. This woman really does not care about Western North Carolina mountain folks. Very disrespectful. Why? We still do not have safe water here. We have died friends and family and livestock in the water sheds. She just is another greedy woman who wants your money. Service folks who will be taking care of you have no place to live. The shoes do need to have water and restrooms. Most restrooms are not open. No drinking water. Some places still have bad smell. Will take five years just to clean up the disaster trash. I live in the area and All my friends do not go into Asheville. Too dangerous. Come volunteer here to find out what living in a disaster area is for real. Do not trust to buy any deed because flood plane lines are going to be moved. Only 1800 plus folks with out places to live. No water filter can take out man made toxic chemicals. Toxic dust and red clay mud. A lot of folks have respiratory illness. Rescue dogs died from the water. Livestock died. She is so disrespectful. Not telling correct information to you.

Doo not move here if you plan to take advantage and "develop" in ways that crowd us all and reduce oiur natural resilience. Millions of acres of forests were toppled so opportunities for walking as an outlet is very decreased.

Asheville is overrated . Hendersonville is worse . Stay away . The area is stuck in the mid 20th century mindset . The food is NOT that good . Mediocre at best . Trust me . Native NC ....lived in that area for 14 years . No IMPROVEMENT . I moved back to the Triangle and back to the future .

Visted this area in 2005 for 2 weeks. Mainly the Asheville area near Hendersonville, Fletcher. Interesting to see this town with all the growth and more amenities than were in 2005.

Visted Asheville, NC in 2005. visted for two weeks. It was a small town back then. Rush hours were only 15 minutes long to get around town. I guess alot of the midwestern nothereasters have ruined the city's charm and I gather it's not as friendly as it used to be. There's always Hendersonville & Fletcher if you want something smaller. Asheville used to be inexpensive but as more people just as in alot of cities such as Phoenix, Las Vegas, Atlanta, etc have disposable cash and work from home and can afford to buy lot of homes there for real cheap that most can't afford due to the local service job economy.

That said, the green cap on the ground that you asked about is a French drain. That’s the pup-up top where the water comes out from the gutters. Great way to channel water away from the house. I have them on my property here in Ft. Lauderdale. Anyway, keep on being amazing!

Hi Beth. Was Waynesville affected by the flooding from Helene? We’re hoping to possibly relocate to western NC, but we’re being extra careful now about the towns we’re looking into. We were originally going to visit this past fall, but we’ve pushed off our trip to this summer.

Henderson county is my favorite area of western NC. It is a lot quieter and only a short drive to Asheville.

We have to pay to park in Hendersonville. Makes it hard for low income seniors and others! It's expensive for most of us. Traffic is heavy. Used to be a small town but now a city 2nd to Asheville. Some restaurants and stores have closed .

I lived in Hendersonville for 3 years 1970-1973 and went to East Henderson High School I had nothing but good memories there, would love to move back.
