Some of the beach communities in Florida are petitioning for this now.The local owners are so tired of all of the people coming in from everywhere and being disruptive and trashy and loud and leaving a footprint.And running what used to be a nice beach area or a nice quiet relaxing zone

If you want to protect North Carolina's economy and the local people who may not be wealthy. Then you should definitely make purchases somewhere on the state level. That should create protection whereif you have a purchase for an airbnb. Income typed property that it has to be owned by a local someone that's a resident of the state. If not, you're gonna have the problem that Florida has where people home all over the place that Johnny will live here bought up all the properties and people can't be able to afford rooms for it. Asheville is crazy

That big house for $1.6 million is grossly overvalued especially if it ONLY grosses $100K a year. What a lousy investment that is. 16 years to cover the mortgage ONLY. How many more years to recoup the insurance and taxes? 5 more years? NOPE.

I didn't know that Johnny's cabin was behind the Inn. Cool! We really enjoy visiting Lake Lure. La Strada restaurant is delicious with huge portions. The beach area is fun. We go to Lake Lure via Chimney Rock Road (from Hendersonville). It isn't very far. Maybe 15 miles from downtown Hendersonville to the LL marina. The road is curvy for only about 3-5 miles of that and is not bad at all. Now, to Rumbling Bald is another 5 or more miles of curves. I have stayed there and it does seem further to a town from that side. There are some lovely homes out Chimney Rock Rd. about halfway between Hendersonville and Chimney Rock. Great area that is close to everything!. Day trips to Asheville, Brevard, Chimney Rock, Blue Ridge Parkway, Lake Lure, etc.

I’ve only been to Asheville once, but I’ve heard people talk about its growth and development. I think I can relate somewhat having lived 30 years in Nashville, TN. In the 90s it was a cool and kind of gritty place downtown, but you could actually just walk into a bar and get a drink and not have to wait in line like you do today. I rented an apt on the west side of downtown for $500/mo. It has always been a tourist destination but in the past 10 - 15 years it has gotten ridiculous. The rent and housing prices have gone crazy even in the surrounding areas. The traffic rivals Atlanta now. Tons of people are moving there just like Asheville, but for some of us it just isn’t our vibe anymore. I understand people moving from Asheville because I moved away from a city under constant construction. After a while I just wanted to live in a city that was already built. Maybe that’s how people feel about Asheville. No hate on Asheville (or Nashville), killer places to visit no doubt, but it doesn’t feel very organic with all the marketing to make these cities boom.

And now, people will move there and ruin it. It's happening in my town too...the culture will never be the same. It'd be fine if people came to be a part of the community...but they don't..they come in and want to 'fix' it, and it ends up like the crummy place they left.

If you're into hiking, mountain biking, nature, climbing, rafting, swimming or are just a super cool human being....this is the community for you.

I hope to get there within the summer

I go to Hendersonville every summer. Love it! And yes, in my opinion it is better than Asheville. I will be there in August, and can't wait! Bold Rock is near by, and they have fun events/ live music during the summer.

I wish I had seen this before I took this work contract! At least the place I'm staying isn't far from work. The moment I got to town, I was completely and utterly overwhelmed. Soooo many people and buildings piled on top of each other and the hospital where I work is like if The Labyrinth and the Memphis Airport had a baby! 😜 It's taken a few weeks, but it's kinda growing on me. I make friends everywhere I go, and everyone I've encountered has been delightful! Probably won't move there, but it's been an overall good time with good people!

It's all about making money. Some of these people could care less about Asheville. They will ruin it just like they ruined Pinehurst N.C.

Asheville has been the trading hub for all of western north carolina for over 100-150 years it is giving that away for a globe market.. I have lived here in Western Carolinas for 62 years and can not remember when I felt I needed to lock my doors.And when big storms hit everyone comes out to help. I can see Asheville from my deck but have not been there for years have no need and have trees and mountains for as far as I can see.We appear to have it all from a concert lifestyle to a cabin at the edge of the parkway. If you want a place for a certain lifestyle it is here but come and be apart of it. If you take your time an find your home you will never want to live anywhere else. Many like the Vanderbilts have come and tired to change everything they always lose to the mountains and the hundreds of thousands of down to earth people living in them.

Interesting little town, but seems a little on the touristy side. Sylva is nearby and is AMAZING! Will you ever do a segment about Sylva or have you?

Maggie Valley is fantastic. We have stayed in a couple of cabins there. Also, the inns are right on the creek for people to stay and very reasonable.
