  • We go back to post World War 2 Japan and learn about the origins of Pearl as a music stand manufacturer in 1946. They then entered the world of drums in the 50's and began to rise to the drum company that we know today by creating "stencil drums" for over 30 other brand names, including CB-700 and Apollo, before creating the iconic Pearl "Presidents Series" in 1966.
Raymond Massey is the Director of Product Development and gives us an extensive run through of each decade of this iconic drum brand. Pearl has been a family owned brand for almost 75 years and has continued to push the boundaries of innovation and quality since the first drum left the factory.

The reason I started playing Pearl is that it had my name in it "Earl" and was also the first kit brand I learned to play on.
I still have a 1984 Pearl Export Professional series with the long tension struts.

That comment about playing Pearl in school and then going off to buy a Pearl drumset for home is exactly how I got into playing Pearl drums lol. I’ve played other kits but none felt just right like my Pearl kit. Started with a Pearl Export EXR and then moved up to my Pearl Session Custom.

What’s crazy to me is that my uncles kit was the early 1982 pearl export and that set sounds beautiful and I’m glad that I have it and it sounds amazing

Im getting the new pearl president snare. I was a little disappointed they are made in Taiwan but i guess many drums are now and are still good quality.

The Pearl ELIMINATOR Is THE Best pedal in the price range… haven’t tried fancy expensive pedals… kills the Cobra… kills the DW 5000, 7000, and even 9000 in smoothness and range of motion.
