Microsoft made some commercials during the early 2000s about Windows 2000. Here's one of them talking about how Windows 2000 was built for the internet.
I remember the only time I saw a street ad of Windows in Catania, Sicily, was Windows 2000. It was a picture of an electric plug disconnected from the wall outlet and approx. the words: "this is the only way to stop it" (in Italian). It was because of its stability, and except the malware that entered the system as long as you connect to the internet, it was really stable.
