When the random guy at the service station asks, "You going far?" and you just say "Yeah". And TBH 99% of non cyclists wouldn't believe you if you said, " aw just 600 odd miles! " You're incredible. Totally audacious!

I am not one to comment, but I have been following you for a while and I want to say huge congratulations. What an epic ride. I love how human you are about all of it as well. Maybe we will make a video of our next ride😎. Lori and Gord

The fast cut from the very human momment where you're meeting fans to eating and talking to the camera about Shimano GRX is only something a cyclist can keep up with. 🤣
I so appreciate these videos. I don't film on long rides and rarely take pictures. I blog about them though -- that's just my way of capturing.
Most of my long rides happen in organized brevets (audaxes) with group departs. Sharing the experience with others is great. This video has inspired me to attempt more solo trips. They are harder, but I'd like to see of there's a different kind of satisfaction I get from them.
    Thanks always KK.

I sensed it already when you said "ultra" event. That entailed excitement and impatience but also pain and agony, so it instilled in me a sense of anticipation but also fear and discomfort at how much suffering you were going to endure.
I know I would falter at wrestling with sleep; I need my resting time and I cannot imagine how gruelling it has been pushing against exhaustion.
But you did it anyway, and I got the feeling from the start that this was going to be yours, that was going to be fine.
However many miles you may have ridden, one's greatest achievement will always be lighting it up wherever one is marching through, to bring that lightness and gentleness to people that so need it and crave some of it even in silence.
You do it so splendidly and naturally.
That's your sweetest deed and I want to keep some of it for me, holding it within me and cherish the thought of it when you will have moved on from all of us supporters.
Stupendous effort, exceptional endurance, exquisite editing skills.
And now rest, lots of it, and some well deserved pampering time 😃😄😁🙂 👌👍
    🌼🌝

Can't help but compare my own mini event yesterday - no rain but wind that tore your heart out. Haydon 100. Haven't ridden 100 miles since my 20s (Haydon 100 is km but there's an extra skyroute and a commute back home to add it up to 100 miles) and nearly gave up on the Killhope climb when I'd just had enough of the wind. We went from doing 50mph downhill with wind behind to doing 4mph on a slight rise into the wind. Great feed stations at my low ebb, and sat at the top at Killhope talking with the broom wagon. But found some resilience to finish. And actually enjoyed the rest of the ride. I'll never reach your standards of epic adventures, but I did at least have my own challenge in the beautiful north. The Military road is often directly in line with the prevailing wind, and of course is Roman-straight. So easy to underestimate the quality of your events - superhuman, not just in distance, height gain and weather but in the mental approach. Tremendous achievement. Bravo.

Well, that was simply smashing! My favorite part of your "adventure of the heart" was when you were talking to us while eating your bagel. I couldn't understand a word you were saying. 😲 But I knew that whatever it was it must have been brilliant...because I trust you. 😘

Well done Katie, absolutely amazing!!! Such an inspiration and even explaining how your legs weren't sore after a 1000km thanks to your gearing is great, it makes people rethink their set up and not just put up with what they've got and assume the pain is normal ( obviously with the right training too ) Thankyou for yet another great adventure shared.

OMG what an inspirational feat you have achieved. I have been following your adventures for quite a while now but this takes the cake! Absolutely fantastic, don't know how you managed it, with the weather especially. Keep up the great work. I can still barely believe that you did it! Well done, Katie!

Unbelievable effort and so well done. You are not only an inspiration to mature cyclists but your videos should be shown to elementary age children to see what determination, drive and persistence can achieve. Not only a sports lesson but a life lesson. Congrats from Seattle

I was introduced to your RUclips presence by algorithms a couple of years ago and couldn’t watch them as they seemed to be an “all about me” kind of thing. In the mean time, not only are the movies you make thoroughly entertaining but the experiences and efforts you clearly so enjoy completely inspirational. Lang may yer lum reek! That from an over 70 pedal pusher trying not to fall off the cliff after 100km.

The Military Road is relentless. Had to smile at that bit. Please don’t let it put you off the rest of Northumberland. There’s some great roads.

@@KatieKookaburra Worlds most boring rollercoaster! You went past the bottom of my street again. Next time you’re up this way I’ll come out and give you a wave. Or draft in behind for a bit.
