I'm currently in the hospital with my 11th lung collapse awaiting a surgery and somehow never knew Claire had a Ted talk, through her young age she managed to bring more awareness about Cystic Fibrosis than anyone ever has. She may have passed too soon but she helped drastically increase the life expectancy of everyone else with this illness. 13 months after she passed a breakthrough in cystic fibrosis medicine came out called Trikafta as a result of the awareness and funding the CF foundation was able to use for research. In my doctor visit before having Trikafta my lung functions were at 38% and the doctors started the conversation with me about a lung transplant. The next visit just weeks after I was on the medicine my lung functions increased to 58% and said I may never need a transplant and if I do it wouldn't be for decades. The medicine only works for about 90% of mutation types so I'm not sure if she would've been able to use it but it's heartbreaking that she didn't make it to at least see the medicine come out and see the true impact of her legacy. I'm so thankful for her as well as countless others are, Rest In Peace.
Thank you so much for teaching me to live life to the fullest even when we're sick. Thank you so much, Claire. Everyone is saying Rest In Peace. I pray for you to be here in spirit. I know you will be here every day doing the work of teaching people how to be fully alive.
GOD I LOVE this young lady! She touched SO many and she reached the world with her magic. I would always tune into Claire just to keep a good head on my shoulders. SHE had the wisdom people chase and live their whole life trying to obtain. The world lost an angel and one of the purest souls I have ever known. Love and peace Claire, you left us with SO much, thank you.
Me too!! At first some tears of sadness because no one deserves to be ill but she converts those tears to tears of strength and joy. Claire was such a light and she did a pretty great job in transferring that light to all of us!
She is a true angel. RIP Claire. You have taught me and others so much. Miss you and your talks. September 2018. God called you for something important hope to see you again. You are a true angel. God Bless.
Claire is an inspiration to all of us! I feel enriched by watching her speech, I learned a lot. Living in the moment is so important and Claire emphasizes that!
When she put on those large ear balls, she didn't realise that they would keep hitting her microphone. I would have taken that right ear ball off, but she didn't care. She gave a wonderful speech, and she was always so happy and inspiring, and awesome. Here, at age 15 she's so amazing. Love you, Claire. I wish you were still with us.
Whoever shall be the first to downvote this is a miserable soul, indeed. But I hope no one finds cause to, because by the end I was completely won over and pretty much in awe. That was so great.
Thank you so much for inspiring me this morning. My illness provides me with opportunities that I wouldn't have otherwise, and I would not exchange this for a pain-free life. You have helped me to see this as a blessing and an opportunity instead of a challenge to get over x
Claire did a great job with this speech even with her noisy earrings! She was gorgeous, brave, hilarious, and unbelievably wise beyond her years! I hope the future daughters of the next generation will/can learn from her! Especially those who advocate for themselves with class with or without serious challenges!
You are truly doing Gods work here. No doubt in my mind that u are an angel here on earth. Such a beautiful inspiration you are. Thank you so much for what you do and the inspiration you share. xoxoxox
Shaggy 1260. you know what's funny? I'm not religious really either. lol. I just felt like she had such a beautiful and clear message to people that can help them in their lives and that it feels as though she must have been given this gift by a higher power to help others.
I don't know why people consider her so inspirational. Of course she's very likeable and cute, so why not like her. But she is pretty nice looking, smart enough, has a loving family and good medical care. She actually has it better than many others, just by luck.
Sonia S no. She's dying and she is able to have such a positive outlook and a zest for life that some people live 70-80 years without ever finding. She's an inspiration to those like me without a terminal illness who look at her and wonder what my excuse is for being lazy. She encourages me to get up and go live. Our life circumstances are so different, and yet I find I'm so much like her. I see myself in her, and it is a wake up call for me. I'm her age but I have 60+ years ahead of me. She has 3-5. She has a passion for life that's sort of rare to find in people, let alone people in her circumstance. If you can't see why that's inspirational then I don't know what to tell you. She's igniting sparks in hundreds of people in just a 12 minute talk, what did you do today?
Noel L I've done my physical treatments, cooked for my kid and had a doctors appointment for new meds. Maybe her 'lifestyle' is kind of familiar to me so I don't find that she holds some sort of hidden wisdom. She's just a person who thinks something and says it out loud. She is a good speaker, no need to disagree with that. And, it's always good to make your view known if you have something to say, especially for a large audience, so I respect that.
Is her voice not the most comforting thing on the planet?
YES!
I hope she's okay.... Hasn't been a video in a while :/
saw a video on one of her instagram accounts today! she's ok!
Karin Chappelle if you're allowed, can you share what her instagram is? if she doesn't want that one out, I totally respect that.
@clairesplacefoundation on instagram!
She’s amazing!! I have 52 percent lung I’m function !! I’m blessed I’m alive

I'm so wishing trikafta had been available in time to save Claire. Best wishes for your healing
Incredibly talented speaker for a 15 year old, how cow! What a gift she has.
She's dead
@ScarketKnight yes, we know. That's a very insensitive way to put it.
Yes Abbey Autry, she has a gift and I'm feeling so lucky that I had the chance to know her and learn from her-always alive!
Rest in peace Claire. Your are deeply missed.

Tears were brought to my eyes, she's amazing. I'm so glad I came across her tonight.

Wow. Just Wow. You amaze me. Can't wait to have you on life by me.
She'll be sorely missed! (passed after a failed lung transplant on Sept, 2, 2018.
Actually, her lung transplant was successful, but she had a stroke caused by a blood clot.

Sonia S because the world is full of negativity. So someone who could die be so positive is inspirational.
sydney szmuc she's interesting because she's dying faster? still don't get it
